ARMY in 93 and Coast Guard 2001, in my opinion Coast Guard was much harder
I agree 100 percent. Bergdahl failed uscg basic after 26 days. He then joined the army, and passed obviously.
How is it hard?
Gabriel Guzman aside from physical fitness, the mental and academic aspects are extremely intense. If you mess up, not only are you going to sweat for it, but along with messing up comes the possibility of being put on probation, sent to RAMP, or straight up reverted a week or more back.
As a Coastie I've always felt Marines had it the toughest in bootcamp/basic I was in back in 91, my daughter is a Marine. We didn't have the Crucible, so there is that, but interestingly enough my CC was formerly a Marine (I know, I know, once a Marine always a Marine) and he said CG was the second hardest and the Only branch that I've ever heard give CG credit for being the second hardest is the Marine Corps, so, from this Coast Guard Vet (romeo 137) And Marine mama Semper Paratus and Semper Fi
Honestly mentally and physically the toughest is the Marines. Highest rate of people going crazy or getting Suicidal or even faking injuries at boot camp. Hands down
I have the mental part but not the physical part do that aint me
13 year Coast Guard Vet, #1 Toughest been USMC, #2 Always been USCG. Marines tougher due to physical, USCG is more Mental than physical..
In 1983 we had a boot come on the Sherman who made a Marine glad he went to Marines Boot Camp.
Lol i thought you said you were a 13 Y/O vet 😂
yeah man reversion and probation was horrible. Wearing that red belt is wild, required knowledge was overwhelming
OMG finally someone who recognizes the Coast Guard boot camp. I am at the academy to be an officer and the stories I hear from the enlisted people are insane. The stories I hear from other military boot camps are so easy in comparison.
Great video Andre. I agree with you. The Coast Guard and the Marines have a long-standing competition to have the hardest boot camp. I believe the Marines have the most physically demanding boot camp followed by the USCG as a close second. But, when you factor in the mental aspect and the required learning of the Coast Guard AND the factor of the high percentage of reversions in the Coast Guard it appears the Coast Guard is the hardest boot camp from which to graduate. My impression is that the drill instructors in the Marines will stick with their recruits and won't give up on them. They will kick the recruits’ asses but they won't leave a man (or woman) behind. On the other hand, the current Coast Guard Company Commanders will revert their recruits at the drop of a hat. This practice is a relatively new development in the Coast Guard and is unheard of in most other branches of the service. Both the USMC and the USCG are great branches. Kudos for your fine videos.

Coastguard here proud to be
Semper Paratus 1986-2007🇺🇸
In GC boot camp Alameda, circa 1969, we were told CG was second in toughness, and first in mental requirements. Every few nights someone would flip out and try to escape by swimming across the Alameda estuary. Was like something out of a prison movie. They always got caught, and punished. But it was the best thing I ever did. Now 67 years old. Lots of great memories and friends.
gjforeman omg
Thanks for giving The USCG some attention. Semper Paratus!
I had a guy that was in in the coast guard for 12 years and he went to the marines and he said he it was harder going threw the marine boot camp. Also the marines is the only branch that you have to restart in rank if you change branches. Not offended just giving my opinion.
Should’ve waited a day to walk into the Marine Recruiter office.
naw son
When I was in marine boot camp at good ol Paris island...there was a few coast guard personnel watching us because they wanted to model their boot camp off the marine boot camp...I'm guessing....USCG boot camp is probably the second toughest
Bergdahl failed USCG basic at 26 days in. Due to the stressful training environment. So he then joined the army and passed basic and infantry school.
So that explains that.
Is this true??
I feel like the coast guard definitely doesn’t get enough credit for what they do. Although personally I disagree with it being the mentally hardest. I’ve heard of horrors stories from my buddy about getting Hazed in the middle of the night by drill instructors, getting smoked for hours straight and even getting “corrected”. Great video though man. I ship out to Parris Island in a month
I really hope you made it through
Lmao CG boot camp isn't 8 weeks, they just say that, I was in for 14
They say it's 8.5 weeks how is it 14
Gabriel Guzman you can be reverted multiple times
u can be prehased/reverted several times or stay longer due to injuries
I've heard it goes
1.marines
2.uscg
3.army
Everything else..... lol
Kevin Osorio ehhh... I guess it depends who you talk to haha
Yeah ok bro. I didn't sleep my first 3 days of USMC boot camp and we got smacked for falling asleep standing up before getting sent to the sand pit to get itd while getting yelled at, spit on, and smacked simultaneously by my Drill Instructors. I can tell a story and exaggerate too but there's no point. The Marine found dead in the dryer should say enough.
Thanos Car what’s the easiest ??? I have a friend who wants to partake and he’s a little bit out of shape
@@TheProrage509 air force is by far easiest
Bergdahl failed uscg basic! Then joined the army lol
I served in the Marine Corps. Graduated from Parris Island on 21 January 2000. I do know the Coast Guard has a Tough Recruit Training and their Instructors actually have been down to MCRD Parris Island to learn the Marine Corps way of training Recruits.
"The marine recruiting office was close So I went to the army"
Or just wait till they open back up the next day
No
It's so nice of him to make free videos on RUclips to help people like me thinking about joining the military one day =)
I was in bootcamp for 17 weeks!
I thought it was 8
James Rants! It is
U must be had hard time
Sounds like mentally the Coast Guard may be tougher, I can only speak on the Army which I entered in 1974 and it was the hardest thing I've ever done.
in the air force people get set back 3 weeks at a time for making mistakes, we had one guy who had been there for 16 weeks as well in an 8 week BMT
Nice video, Andre. I've been super busy lately, so I haven't kept up much, but working with my personal trainer, I'm down another 4 or 5 pounds in the last week and a half. Contacting my recruiter again tomorrow, hopefully I can try to set a ship out date soon. I've gone from 9 sit ups to 25, and I'm working on building my pushups from the ground up (no pun intended) and picking up my running pace. I've got a ways to go, but I'm excited to see where I can go from here. Keep up the content!
John Kuebler keep at it brotha! Keep me updated on your progress!! 💪🏼
Just graduated with Kilo-196. USCG boot camp is NO joke. Semper Paratus!
Joseph C congrats man yankee 193
Joseph C , what do you do right after boot camp, when you are a non rate, like what happens??

NOVEMBER 159ER SEMPER PARATUS
I'm a marine people have been in bootcamp for 2 years due to bootcamp injuries
Yeah nah
I have to agree, coast guard boot camp was the hardest thing I’ve ever done
To be honest if you haven't been through all the other branches boot camps you can't judge which one is the hardest
boden13 are you in the military?
USCG VFW Vet 1970 -1974
boden13 awesome! Thank you for your service 💪🏼
Andre Milla your welcome and thank you for yours...I like what your doing here I'm sure it's helping many young men and women considering joining the CG..when I went in we had nothing like this..things were different then..the draft Vietnam military was not liked when we flew into the AFB at Oakland CA from Saigon they said when the bus takes you to San Francisco airport they will be outside the gate cussing you and throwing shit at the bus
boden13 I'm doing my best to educate and help the future Coast Guard men and women ! 💪🏼
In 1971 the USCG was second only to the Marines for military presence, precision and reflex response. That is also dependent upon how the individual going through basic will be "programmed" and how it will be maintained. I still have it in me after serving 4 and leaving in 1975. Met many officers in all branches through the years and was told how much respect they have for the CG. I always tell young people who are squared away to check out the CG and see IF they can join, because it's the best - but it's also the most selective. ALL branches have important and specific roles and each branch deserves to be recognized for their commitment to service to this country. God Bless our veterans, past and present.
you was just afraid to go through the crucible in the Marines which is 54 hours long
The forge for the army is the same. If u go infantry its 7 days

I'm a late to the conversation, please forgive me. I served in the Marine Corps from '75-'81. Back then the rule was, if you were prior service in the Marine Corps you didn't have to go through ANY other branches boot camp. If you were prior service in another branch and wanted to join the Marines, you had to go through recruit training. When did that change? My older brother went from the Marines to the Coast Guard reserves and did have to go to their boot camp. I went from active duty to the ready reserves but but got fed up with career reservists. My God son's dad was in the Air Force reserves and when I shipped over I didn't have to go to boot camp. They just issued me uniforms. I kept my rank and everything. Thanks for your time.
Ooops, my brother DIDN'T have to go to Coast Guard boot camp.
Good boy. You didn’t forget the coast guard
So In a list of hardest to easiest
1.marine corps
2.coast guard
3.army
4.navy
5.air force
6.space force: most likely it's going to be easier since the us is the only country with space force they don't fight no one
I guess its all about who you ask. I was considering joining the Navy, but back when I was in middle school, I had heard that out of all my family (A military one at that), nobody had gone into the Coast Guard, and so I wanted to be the first. Not only that, but I was also interested in working on boats since I was very adaptive for that kind of environment, or at least so I thought but I did enjoy my experience. But yeah, from all I heard, the Coast Guard definitely was all about getting into your head, but I do give kudos to the Army and Marines as they would have a far more rigid physical routine. But I think all the different branches would probably turn away anyone who doesn't have any sense of personal discipline. I've been honorably discharged since then, but I can't help but think that I enjoyed the lifestyle while I could. Semper Paratus
1. You don't have to go through another boot camp in another branch if prior service Marine.
2. You have to talk in third person in USMC recruit training to drill instructors.
jmacdonald3ac that's cute.
Thats what I thought when I saw a video of coast guard recruits using stationary bikes in boot camp
Number 1 is not necessarily accurate. Depending on how long you been out and which branch. For the coast guard, they don't care, you do theirs. Want to be Army infantry, you going to Benning. Otherwise, its the discretion of the branch.
jmacdonald3ac, I served in the Corps from '75-81. "Back in the day", "wall to wall counseling" was standard. I remember the "Sir, the recruit requests permission to speak to Drill Instructor Sgt. Whoever". Do the other branches get "thrashed"? Do the other Branch's Drill Instructors make it "rain"? Do the other branche's ever have "inclement weather"? What killed me the most was their final PFT was the minimum requirements to enlist in Corps! Semper Fi, Bro.
I was company Zulu 161 in the Coast Guard April 2002 to June 2002 we had five prior marines who went through the entire boot camp with us and four failed the swimming test so they had to get up every day at 0400 and have swimming lessons till they could pass.
I've been to both Great Lakes and Cape May. The rules and regulations handed down to Coast Guard recruits make their Navy counterpart rodeo seem like a cakewalk.
Semper Paratus! "The beatings will continue until morale improves!" 🤣🤣🤣🤣 #memories
LMAO! Cant remember how many times I heard my CC scream that
Petty Officer (SS2) Chris Fonde - Company Alfa 122 - 1978 - Training Center Alameda, California. When I joined the USCG 40 years ago, the CG had 2 training centers, Alameda, CA. & Cape May, NJ. At that time, Alameda was considered the far more toughest boot camp, and was only second to the Marines boot camp (Pendleton) in San Diego. Even Coast Guardsmen joked among themselves if you went to "Skate May, New Jersey". In 1978, women were just starting to join the military in considerable numbers. All female CG recruits were sent to Cape May. At Alameda, we didn't even SEE any females for weeks on end. One day, they were busing us 30 miles to the rifle range. The bus pulled into a gas station, and there were a couple hot looking girls filling up their car. A couple guys whistled out the windows, and the Company Commander made them get off the bus, and go give the girls "50 cranks" (push-ups), right on the pavement in front of the laughing, embarrassed girls. The CC then apologized to the girls, and continued yelling at the guilty recruits. Yes, Alameda was tough! I'd never get through it today, as I've put on 40 lbs since those days, but if I were 19 , I'd do it all over again! Semper Paratus!
Just graduated bootcamp with November-195 on Feb. 2. Man it was touuughhhhh...
Hell yeah bro I just graduated

Mike McElrath congratulations!!! Where did you get stationed, shipmate?
Hell yeah, India 195 here

Hey now lets not make fun of the airforce, they probably gotta deal with a calculus test after a recruit fucks up.
5. Air Force (Easiest)
4. Coast Guard
3. Navy
2. Army
1. Marines (Hardest)
Marines is definitely the hardest basic training. At least it was in 2004. I cant account for it today, but i had family in the other branches, and we had this dicussion many times. Marine corps isnt about physical challenge. Even though its PFT standards are tougher then that of other branches. I broke my leg 6 weeks into training. Having spent 7 months on Paris Island, and only getting to call home twice. While my brother in law talked on the phone regularly in Army boot. My sister in the Air Force same thing. I was shocked to learn about the things Army, and Air Force boot camps aloud that could not happen at Paris Island. I know we were slapped, thrown through racks, sand pitted to an inch of a heart attack. Everything the recruiters tell you wont happen will. I always see the movie Full Metal Jacket as the movie that was close to getting it right. Except instead of one Drill Instructor in your face it was usually 4. I'm not disrespecting other branches. I served in Al Anbar, and was on of only a few Marines attached to an Army FOB Camp Corregidor. I learned alot about the similarities, and major differences of Army vs Marines. Now, my other brother in law was in the Navy. And even admitted to not even firing a M16 in basic, but shotguns, and pistols. Marines must qualify on dry sights at 500 yards, or get held back. Army I believe is 300 yards. Marines PFT run is 3 miles, and Army/Navy was two miles at the time. Again, this may have changed. Air Force may not have high PFT standards, but they will kick you out quickly if yiu dont make weight just like the Marines. While in the Army, and Navy I've seen some beer guts that simply wouldn't happen in the Marines. I do know the Coast Guard Boot Camp is extremely challenging as well. Like the Marines you may want to go there knowing how to swim, tread water, and float. I wouldn't go to either Marines, or Coast Guard Boot Camp without knowing how to swim. Its probably more important in the Coast Guard, but there is swim week in the Marine boot camp, and going to any boot camp prepared physically will make things a lot less challenging. Thats where I have to critique the Marine Corps a little bit. At the time recruiters were sending people that simply were not ready. I would say upon the intial physical fitness phase 25% were sent to PCP. We called it fat boy platoon, and it didnt look like a place you would want to go. As a retired Marine Sergeant now I often counsel family members, and friends that want to join. The military truly isnt for everyone. Every branch will have its challenges, and its all up to you, and what you want to get out of it. You dont want to realize you made a mistake 3 weeks into boot camp, because then its too late. To anyone wanting to join the Marines I will tell you its truly an adventure. And I'm not trying to be cliche. I started off in MCAS Iwakuni, Japan which is a playground on the mainland of Japan. From there I went to Camp Lejuene, and was medically retired at NAS Pensacola. I became a MCMAP Instructor, and got hurt. The Marines has the most advanced mixed martial arts program. You can excel in this program as I did, and learn a lot of unarmed/armed combat. You receive your tan belt in basic, and by the time you're a Sgt you ahould atleast be green. I made it to Brown belt Instructor before my injury. Hope this helpful to anyone looking to join. God bless the Army, Air Force, Marines, Navy, and Coast Guard. Somewhere in this world they stand post tonight for our freedom.
For the army it is pretty easy depending on what training site you go to. Fort Benning is infinitely harder than say Fort Jackson.
Demetrius Gooden
USCG
Started in Zulu 191 got hurt and rephased to Bravo 192. This was definitely a tougher experience no offense to marines but 1 out 2 of them washed out of my boot camp class. They decided not to take depot. They always told me this was harder than what they did. It was the perfect mixture of mental and physical way more things to worry about that will destroy you in uscg boot. So thanks for making this video for the newer guys coming in.
I’ve been in the USMC & USCG... USMC WAY HARDER BY FAR.
Rich C depends if you're talking about the physical aspect or the mental aspect of both Boot Camps. what year did you go to Coast Guard Boot Camp?
How many of the branches can you be?
I didn’t know you could switch
Gho St You can switch. You can also just transfer at the end of your enlistment. For example near the end of 4 years in the Marine Corps you sign an enlistment contract with the Coast Guard. So you are technically reenlisting but just to a different service. Like the Coast Guard.
Is it still super hard if you show up with the 11 general orders, ranks, way of talking, etc. memorized?
30 Years of my life is this camera on me.
In the army you also can get recycled right before graduating. It is a lot of people that get recycled for xyz reason. A lot of people fuck up before graduation
USCG November 163 basic training graduate December 2002
Definitely marines it was hard in young marines so actual marines is probably the hardest
In my opinion the USCG boot and the USMC boot is harder or easier depending on the individual. Some people are really good mentally but not physically, and some are good physically but not mentally.
Years ago, the U.S. Coast Guard sent in CC's to copy all the physical aspects of the Marines boot camp. So you're absolutely correct, Coast Guard boot camp is the 2nd hardest. Here's the article from the Marines website proving it: www.tecom.marines.mil/News/News-Article-Display/Article/528168/corps-training-spreads-coast-guard-teams-make-final-observations-of-corps-basic/
Hey Andre! Been watching your channel for a long while lol and have been very thankful for all the content you put out. I was wondering, if you don't mind answering, which rate are you insteredted in going? Thanks in a advance and keep up the amazing work!! -DM
So I should study the helm book the recruiter is giving me for required knowledge before going? Is that what you mean by “wish I studied”?
Dm on Instagram
Study that hard, in the same boat. Study or get sent home
dood dont forget ramp that shit looked inhumane

The navy's boot camp was hard as hell, the amount of knowledge you have to cram in your head is ridiculous and you do have to talk a certain way these guys aren't just yelling they are very intelligent and the way they are able to give instructions without slipping up They were on point with everything and there was absolutely no talking at all.
You were in the Coast Guard. There is absolutely no way that the Coast Guard has a harder Boot Camp than Paris Island. This video was edited to R. Kelly’s remix to ignition. Stop playing #semperfi
It was hard. Whiskey Company 136 1991. He is telling the Truth. They will revert your ass for one misstep
Are you saying they made it through marine boot camp tried the coast guard and didn't make it. Coming from a coastie that believes the coast guard has for sure the 2nd hardest bootcamp
Usmc boot camp is 12 weeks long, and the fear of getting dropped is ridiculous specially when your more than halfway through boot camp, I have never done uscg boot camp so I can’t judge it just from the videos, because I bet a lot more goes down during training that the video will not show, just like boot camp in the marines
Looking to join the coast guard next year, however I do have an annoying problem. I was diagnosed with cold induced asthma when I was very young, however I’m looking to get rediagnosed in a couple weeks considering I haven’t had symptoms in years. I do cardio work (swimming/running) everyday and am fine. Do you think this will be a problem.
Sean Riley my answer is too long to type. Follow me on Instagram and dm me your number! Let's talk 👌🏽
Really sounds like the army at that time dropped the ball. Lowering your expaction of true professional training. My experience of marine boot camp came compleat with constant suicide attempts, recycling, and drops ! One guy that I knew of spent an extra month getting sent back. But it does say something for coast guard I guess ? Semper fi
1. Coast Guard (1 or 2)
2. Marines (1 or 2)
3. Army
4. Navy
5. Air Force
I went thru Coast Guard Boot Camp in Cape May, Company: Quebec 122 in 1986, Retired 2007
Fuck no, Marine boot camp is the hardest
Frank Hill, I said the Marines are 1 or 2👍🏻
Idk. Iam not even saying it because iam army and Iam trying to make it sound harder than the coast guard, but I've watched them in person train at boot camp and that shit looked easy as shit. Still way harder than the navy and chairforce though.
Spaceforce best branch.
This list is very difficult because
The navy seals probably have the hardest boot camp but the navy is not the hardest same with the fact that an Air Force Carrier pilot may have an easier time than a fighter pilot

@@y0Iaintevenmadbr0 your bugging the navy was hard as hell trust me when I tell you. Brains and grit

I only have one question. Why if I go through Marine Corps Boot camp (I did so in 1994) can you join or transfer to any other branch and never go through boot camp again? If you come from any other branch you will never ever become a Marine unless you go through their Boot camp? Why? Because a Marine is a Marine for life and they have the overall toughest boot camp. Physical, Mental, Prac app, Knowledge. Sorry Dude I know we are all on the same team but I am telling you that 2% of Americans can even make it through Marine Corps Boot Camp. Yep I am a 2%er. The facts dont lie. You have been through 2 boot camps. Had you Joined the Marine Corps 1st you never had to go through #2. This is actually very hilarious. Talk to any other branch member or anyone that ever attempted to join the military they will say "Well I ALMOST joined the Marine Corps" Well sad sacks I did join the Marine Corps and will die a Marine. If you call a Captain in the Army a soldier (Busted, Call a Captain in the Navy a Seaman Busted, the other one the AIr force call a Captain a Airman Busted. Call the Commandant of the Marine Corps a Marine he will puff out his chest and say just don't call me a Soldier I am a Jarhead. Here is a copy paste from a prior service website. The Marines pretty much require all prior-service from other services to go through Marine Boot Camp. In the Army, former members of other services (except the Marine Corps), are required to attend the four-week Warrior Transition Course at Fort Bliss, Texas.
That's ridiculous reverting somebody on graduation. I know it's true and seen it happen. It makes it very unfair to somebody who has done all the work and everything right until that day. Nobody's perfect including the commanders.
Marines tried to go through Coast Guard training? That doesn't make sense. I thought Marines were the only branch that if they joined another military branch, they wouldn't have to go through another boot camp again.
kricket 53 you thought wrong.
Air force and navy shouldn't even come up. I would've been made fun of by my whole family if i joined those branches
You can't be dumb to join those branches you have to have brains and grit to overcome it.
@@Fightfuryfilms air force yes, but Navy and army are pretty much no brains necessary.
@@rossvanluven6533 your out of your mind guy you obviously don't know what your saying and on top of that all the other branches wouldn't have a chance to beat the Navy if they all went to war. Navy has more air power than the air force, army and marines only have a few amphibs nothing close to the Navy and when it comes to ground war fare the Navy seals are the best so what are we really talking about here.
First comment.Another good vid andre
From my experience being a minority in the Coast Guard I'm going to tell you, the person thinking about this branch, STAY AWAY for the sake of your own mental health! The USCG is the most racist place to be in the US military and almost completely white. And don't even think the Equal Opportunity Complaint process works; they are experts at sweeping stuff under the rug and retaliating by making your life miserable in more ways than you can ever imagine, if you dare do what you're supposed and report. I was there, I can vouch for it! Go to the Air Force, Navy, Army or even the Marines in that order; there is diversity and even the Marines have a sense of brotherhood that you will never find at the Coast Guard...
I don't know about them being a racist branch, but you do make a great point. They definitely do sweep things under the rug. I've seen it and I've experienced it, but overall I think the Coast Guard is an awesome military branch.

Good for you, but you notice the contradiction about what you are saying yourself about the USCG, I suppose.

@@jacks5033 they are in boot camp with everyone else but there training is much more physically intense I used to see them all the time running for 5 hours straight
The USMC pushes your biceps (and other muscles) until they explode...the USAF pushes your brain until it explodes. We have more long ass tech schools...it can be a trick to study ALL day...then PT. Betcha the Marines would also have hard time studying/learning in our long ass, difficult tech schools and then PT all day... wouldn't happen. On the other hand...guys that join the Marines instead of the USAF...would get good at PT'ing...when that's all you do. C'mon guys you are smarter than that... aren't you ?

The coast guard isn't a branch. They are dept of homelamd security. Marine recruit training is so much harder. And marines don't not attend any other boot camp when going to a new branch.
What branch of the military are you in?
Nick Thomas you should tell the Marines that were in my CG boot camp company that they didn't do it. Also tell all the Coasties that are over seas that they're not military.
You are clueless
Of course your branch is the hardest, coast guard boot is a joke
