- This case was referred to me by a local periodontist for broken implant screw evaluation and retrieval. The patient was already informed by her previous dentist to have a new dental implant placed surgically in the same area. She wanted a second opinion and to know if the implant fixture could be saved. Microscopic examination revealed a classification "type 3" level screw fracture. The fragment showed mobility and was located below the first threads of the implant fixture. I pre-soaked the area with tarter and stain solution. This step was followed by testing the fragment for mobility. Confirmation of fragment mobility was made and the broken implant screw fragment was successfully removed without any trauma to the implant fixture. SUCCESS!!! The patient can now have a new abutment and bridge without having the need to go through any surgery.
Fantastic Demonstration 👏 I have my first retrieval tomorrow afternoon at the end of the day 🙌🙏
Good luck!!
I just got my first screw out. Just remember that when looking through the mirror, the direction to turn is opposite!
Thanks this video helped me a lot.

Thank you for this video. I had two multiunit abutments break. I used your technique and both of the broken screws came out. Soak and explorer only. Thank you again.
My pleasure. Glad to help!!

What you use as a presoak liquid? What ratio did you mixed it?
Whould regular chlorhexidine digluconate 0.02% salution would work?
Got a fractured one too.
@@Bleideris0 I use tarter and stain remover for short 10-20 minute duration.
@gmcuomo its something you pour in ultrasonic bath, right?
You mentioned chlorhexidine gluconate in video, or am I mistaken.
I ended up presoaking with chlorhexidine. I let it soak for 10 minutes like Dr. Cuomo mentioned. Good luck!@@Bleideris0
Doctor what's that solution you are using?
Is It wise to use anche ultrasonic tip for the retrieval?
Thanks from a colleague 😁
Crisco shortening for drilling out a screw, tarter and stain solution for pre-soaking,
