I lived in the Central City Mall as a kid! I never did adapt to the name change! It was one of the funnest places to be back in the 70's I will miss it, as it was a piece of my childhood. I first went there in 1973 at eight years old...now I'm 58. So yes 50 years ago. Every Christmas the place was so decked out and magical. There was a tree that reached high to the ceilings and fake snow would come floating down from above it. This was such a beautiful site. 1:56 I remember running around in the Mall endlessly up and down the stairs, elevators and escalators for hours. So much energy so long ago! The architectural design was stunning. It will always remain in my memories!
FINALLY... There's a new home community near UC Riverside that investors ask me all the time why the houses are not over $1 million yet, similar to UC Irvine area. It's because of the San Bernardino mall, that's why.
So many memories of carousel mall. I remember when I was a kid in the 90s going to shop at this mall with my mom. Pulling up in the station wagon. To this generation y'all will never know what it was like to shop at this mall but hear the stories . Let your friends and family share memories. I want to say I got my first girlfriend when carousel mall was around by the way haha . Forgot that one.
Never should of built this mall. They tore up half of downtown San Bernardino to build this mall in the late 1960’s. Now they are reverting back to the way it was before.
what a waste. I proposed yrs ago that I could turn it into a aged community located right at city center with room for police stores and condos with access to transportation and I would have included medical facilities and pharmacy but no one was interested. but I'm sure they'll put something useless instead. I have the same vision for inland cntr mall. I think can be applied to all abandoned malls and shopping centers..cities aren't interested in anything that helps the community
So many memories of going to this mall! Saw so many cool 80's movies there! I do not see them putting nice new things there when you have such a bad homeless problem and crime in that area? who would want to shop down there or live?!
Finally flatten by November...guess the fix is in. I remember people would try to steal shoes from the Foot Locker store. This mall was the hang spot, till Ontario Mills opened. By then it was to late.
I remember when it was Central City Mall and not too great even in the 1980's. The closure of Norton AFB sealed the fate of the Inland Empire. What will happen to the old Harris department store building? The Inland Center Mall was a lot better but Central City had the old GTE phone center to where I picked up and returned my phones.
The old Harris building along with the Andreson building next to it should be incorporated into the new plan for downtown. Did you know when they built that mall they tore down several blocks of downtown buildings and close several streets. Now hopefully they will open up the streets they once closed and offer a mix of residential/office and retail structures. Should be a great turnaround for the city.

The couple they interviewed is too cute. I’m glad they took that cement as a souvenir to remember all the good times.
The destruction of this mall is a great symbol for what is happening to the once beautiful California dream.
They need to tear down this white elephant of a structure. Open up the streets once again. Build residential/commercial buildings in its place
There are 7 malls within 50 miles of riverside. 😂 I think it's more like too many malls.

“affordable housing” in other words; nothing will change.
That area will just get worse.
Affordable housing just means low income homes with low quality people

gonna be replaced with "affordable housing".... aka section 8..... aka: that neighorhood is DONE.
Not all section 8 people are bad,,, its better then havin homeless on the streets,,they should build manufacturing jobs for people...
Times Changed !

Homeless gotta relocate now
Well, it looks like AMAZON claimed another victim? 🤔🥺
This is proof of a recession
She said affordable housing, so I'm other words unsafe projects for more crime is what history tells us
lets hope that happens though we ned all the housing we can get for the poor

Downtown San Bernardino never looked good at all
Didn't they film movies there?
Yes, pornos.
I think back to the future. When JC penny was there.
🤯 hello apartments and condos
oh hey those are my parents!
