  • At the main library downtown, sheriffs have done a good job of clearing the homeless outside, but inside, the same problems persist.

    Why can't homeless people just simply pick up after themselves? Being homeless doesn't mean you need to be a pig.

      There is usually a reason why they are homeless. Most of them are drug addicts, mental patients or petty thieves. They don't have anywhere to go since all petty crimes like thieving have been decriminalized and most mental hospitals have been shut down thanks to pharmaceutical companies lobbying.

    I agree homeless people should not be kicked out in the rain but I also agree just because they're homeless that doesn't mean they have the right to do whatever they want to libraries is a place you go to read books and use computers and get educated not to have nap time

    So my taxes pay for people who don’t pay taxes. Also, make it uncomfortable for tax payers to use the facility that their taxes pay for. Way to go government

    We should focus on helping the homeless instead of ostracizing them.
    If we see a stray dog on the street, we feed it, give it comfort, and shelter it. If we can't do the same thing to our own kind atleast don't make it worst for them. Let's them stay and rest in the library.

    I feel so sorry for parents bringing their children to the library only to find it overrun with drug addicts, mentally ill people and flat out criminals.

    as long as they're using the facilities as they should be and not causing a distruption i dont see why there should be a problem. whether we like it our not remember homeless people are apart of our community. There's variety of reasons why ppl are homeless so intead of shunning them & branding them as lazy make an effort to support them to get back on their feet. many ppl are a paycheck or less away from being homeless themselves as it is so the lack of empathy is surprising

      Yea, there are a lot of nice homeless people. However, a couple of days ago, I was using the restroom when a large homeless man was literally screaming at me saying a bunch of nonsense. The scary thing is that what if he had a knife, or a gun. How about other children that use the library? What if this guy snaps and kills somebody, anybody?

    I work in a homeless shelter, and before you judge any homeless person in the entire world, know their story first and get to know them, do not generalize homeless as drug user or alcoholic or someone who will commit a crime. The girl who was disturb by odor should be thankful she can shower everyday in her home anytime she want if you have nothing good to say about them then just shut up.

      FMS- the issue at hand isn’t homelessness per se, it’s about the library. I agree that no one group should be generalized. However, if that girl who happened to comment on the odor wanted to sit and work at a table that was occupied by a homeless person sleeping, doesn’t she have a legitimate complaint?

    I agree this report is disrespectful, name-calling "Sand Man" hanging this on all the homeless when it is not clear who is making the mess. Blame someone for human waste around the library - what else are homeless to do? The signs are rude and meant to exclude. This is a library free, access, for all??

    • @0bservationist
      @0bservationist 5 лет назад +8

      christa lehnen sand man makes sense, the bastard is bringing sand into the library, just so he can make the facilities dirty? And you are worried that it is insensitive to give him a nickname? Gtfo here

      Free-access doesn't mean you get to trash the place

    • @SK-tz8hk
      @SK-tz8hk 4 года назад +2

      Christa- the report is not disrespectful. It was informative. Let’s say there are 10 tables to work on. 7 are occupied by people working, and the other 3 are occupied by homeless people sleeping (as the report clearly stated occurs). Doesn’t the next person who walks in have a legit reason to complain? The tables are intended to be worked on, not slept on, and now members of the public aren’t able to work.

      Nicole kept it real, many people are turned off by them. The US has a lot of amenities for the homeless - there is no reason for them to be hanging out there as if it's a shelter. Not all of them are there to read.

    • @lucianakueker6027
      @lucianakueker6027 4 года назад +2

      @John Anderson you are a heartless asshole Not all homeless people are homeless due to their own fault. In California rents are so high a d wages are stagnant and just one incident like work accidents having to pay a hospital bill and falling behind just one bit can land a 1person homeless. I have seen reports on the subject of homelessness and there are plenty of people who still have a job and live in their car and are homeless through no fault of their own. So shut the fuck up and have 100 sits. Jerkoff.🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

      @@WhatsUpWithSheila it drive me nuts when 10 of them come in to Starbucks and hog up the place to sleep in the chair with their cups they had for weeks on end demanding refills for .50 cent's. Then they go in the bathroom for hours leaving it trashed and smelling like old clothes and feet. Starbucks will go out of business one day if they don't stop this bullshit. My friends and I al go to another coffee establishment now and they don't put up with that bullshit. In Starbucks you can't even move around because of the huge camping gear these idiot's bring into the store. I had to vent because enough is enough.
