thanks Nick. Great effort and sharing. Keep up the good work. you got any videos on intro to vSAN, NSX, vRealize Suite?? Am doing labs to test out these VMWare products and features.
Dear Nick, thank you for the detailed info about vmware 6.0. Currently, we have vsphere 5.1 and I am planning to upgrade it to vsphare 6.0. I just need to know whether it can be done directly or first it should be upgraded to 5.5. thank you for yor support.
Shafi Uddin Raheel You are able to update to vSphere 6 directly from 5.0: www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/sim/interop_matrix.php However I believe you are likely to have more success if you are on the latest vSphere 5.1 version (Update 3) prior to the upgrade.
Thanks for this video. During the upgrade i got an error : Error: Internal error occurs during upgrade setup. Resolution: Send upgrade logs files to GSS for further assisstance. I have a vCenter 5.5 with latest update. This error occurs in Single Sign-On step....
Matthew Johnson I didn't find any solution for this error, after a lot of search, decided to start vCenter from the beginning, so completely forgot the old version (after backing up and clone the VM) start it. But if you want to do same, remember to check your confirmation to set them again.
Myxinius a SAN firmware upgrade is not required for vSphere 6 support unless you want to use Virtual Volumes. Always check the VMware HCL (vmw.re/1EG74TL) or your hardware vendors for support statements.
Nick Marshall ah thanks..... only by virtual sans is this special config....Yeah i looked about our hosts server in the list and check this days now the other components in our enviroment... So i found your video and it helped to get a overview about the new vsphere
HI Nick, good job.I was wondering if I have paid for essential plus 5 and one instance of vcenter, I have to upgrade my license and pay more or I can do full upgrade to 6. thanks in advance
Alberto Atzori It depends if you have SnS as to whether you are eligible for vSphere 6 without a license renewal. Check this page for details: vmw.re/1BtQg07
Hello, I have a question, we are currently planning to upgrade to version 5.5. Makes it may already be here the latest vCenter 6.0 to use for this purpose? Due to the age of the hardware, the use of ESXi 6.0 is not possible. Would be great if you could give a tip here.
Myxinius It depends on which version you are upgrading from. vCenter 6 only supports direct upgrades from vCenter 5.0, 5.1 and 5.5. Regarding hardware, just make sure you have enough resources available for your environment size and you should be fine. Check the vCenter 6 hardware requirements here: vmw.re/19PVHAO
Nick Marshall Thanks, we use or ohter said thinking about using the virtual aplliance..... so i research if some problems can be with some older host who only can max 5.5.... so i think about using the new virtual center to be prepared for newer esx hosts

Hi Nick! I was wondering if this video covers everything based on your book...
Hi Nick. Please help me provide video link of v Sphere 6.0 from beginning. It would be very helpful for me to understand full course.
Thanks for this video.
During the upgrade i got an error :
Error: Internal error occurs during upgrade setup.

Mehdi Rajabi If this is production, best give GSS a call. Have you tried with both an external and embedded PSC (SSO) instance?
Mehdi Rajabi Getting the same error. What was the fix?

Nice video, are vcenter and esxi 5.5 license transferable to version 6?
No, they both have to be upgraded through My Vmware.
And i see the part about storage..... if we would use vcenter 6 must be made a SAN firmeware upgrade?
