Martin's Analog Photo Channel thanks Martin, good question. I never test this with my portraits. Good to hear about SnapShot, thanks! 👍🏻
I recently bought the 28mm for my minolta CLE. The 28mm is equal to this?
Hi, I like my 40mm Minolta but is it the same as the Biogon.. no.. that lens design has quite a special look... but i'm sure it's still good, just different.
Hi
Surprise surprise i use a 25mm voigtlander but also have a Zeiss 35mm f2 and 50m f2 .
I believe right or wrong that both Zeiss and voigtlander are made in the same factory?
Ha thanks Alan and Karen! We have good taste it seems! Yes I think I remember hearing that they are all made in the same place but i'm sure someone else will confirm for you. (I've not Googled it).
Yes, made by Cosina in Japan.
Paul Matthews thanks 🙏🏻
have you tried it on the SL ? if so how are you liking it there ?
Hey Marc, Not yet, i'm always testing lenses so i've not had chance to use that combination yet. I will keep the lens so I will use the combination at some stage.
would you consider reviewing the Zeiss 28mm f2.8?
If I owed one yes, if I get to play with one in the future I will no problem 👍🏻
..but I would expect the same amazing results as this lens.
If you already owned a 21mm would you go for 25mm or 28mm?
There’s no fixed answer. I use all 3. 25 can be the sweet spot sometimes.
Leica stopped the production of all 24mm M Mount Lenses view months ago. If you like this focal length maybe you can find it a bit cheaper now. For me personally 35mm is already wide. But I think 35mm is a great allrounder for me. But I also have the Voigtländer 21mm color skopar, but I don't use it very often.
Thanks Alexander! Great info as usual, thanks! :) Interesting to hear so thanks for sharing. Yes everyone is different.. for me it is very location specific. Out in the desert I shot 50/90/135mm ..London 15/21/25mm for example..
Zeiss me silver or black? What fits best with leica m?
Personal choice for colour depending on camera body colour. You need ZM lens to fit M mount
How it perform on a M 240 with the use of EVF2 and tripod for landscape photography?
I love it, you can use LiveView being a wide lens.
Hi Matt very good review and great samples as usual but as a CL user I 'll stick to my TL23 f1.2 or my Elmarit 28 f2.8 as most of the time I do not need to focus less to 0.7m
Hi Jerome! Yes for you the TL23 is a no brainer. It gives a great AF small setup. (I'm not sure if you have ever been tempted by my Patreon but I chat more on there week to week about feelings on cameras + all the other usual stuff, Leica, models, money saving tips etc etc. I wrote about the CL last week and have more to say soon as just used it for a trip).
@@MattOsborne-MrLeicaCom Hi Matt thx for your respons ... I 'll subscribe to your Patreon .. did not have time today to do it :) I'll join very soon .. cheers
@@jeromearnould9940 thanks and sorry to try to hook you in! You can cancel after a month if no good but yes some CL thoughts (more) coming. :)
@@MattOsborne-MrLeicaCom no worry I 'm sure I can get lot from it :)
Jerome Arnould 👌🏻🙏🏻
How’s the color shifting on the edges with M240?
Ryan McGinty no issue with this or 21mm Biogon. I use both for client work (weddings). Only lens I have with issue is Voigtlander 15mm old M version.
Matt Osborne Thank you Matt! Wide angle primes can be tricky in a digital era when original designs were for film. I hope Zeiss makes another 90mm, 45mm similar to the Contax G90 and G45. My two favorite Zeiss lenses to uses on mirror less. Kicking myself for not getting them converted to M’s when I could.
@@GrainyByNature Thanks Ryan, yes good point. Sorry to hear.. yes I think in hindsight we could have donw many things different! :) I would have a Bessa R4M.. as one example (when they were cheap) :)
Matt, do you know how the 25mm Biogon performs on the X1D, even considering 24x36mm crop?
Eszet I’ve not tried it but that should be a killer combination!! Such a good lens 👌🏻
@@MattOsborne-MrLeicaCom I am concerned the Biogon may not work too well on a sensor not specially design for this type of lens. What do you reckon? Did you ever adapt it to any other digital full frame body?
Eszet sorry I’ve not. Maybe try to find some Sony shooters that use it or ideally test it in a shop.
How does 25 mm work with leica framelines?
Good question, I use 25mm finder on hotshoe as some Leica only go as wide as 28mm.
biogon has more 3d pop than voigtlander?
For me yes
Great informative and enjoyable video. Please can you put the sample photos up for a moment longer as there’s some great shots towards the middle of the video in particular and they’re gone so quickly it’s difficult to enjoy them / consider the effect of the focal length. Obviously I’m nit picking. Keep up the great work.
Marcus Blank thanks Marcus, I guess I didn’t want to waste people’s time so try to show it fast ha. Ok yes I will try this in future as see how it is received. Thanks.
I think I need this lens
Me too! Check eBay links, if see one under £600 grab it! :)
Matt Osborne wanna go halvies?!?! Lol!!!
Haha maybe I’ll start a rental scheme one day 😆😊
On my M8 it's basically a 35mm lens
Yes the M8 has the 1.33x crop
This lens sits on my M 262. Makes my M into a Q. The 28mm on the Q is proportedly closer to a 26mm.
Thanks and ahhh interesting stuff!! Thanks for sharing that Q info. + great lens isn't it! :)
28mn is for me
I love the Elmarit 28mm and it’s size but for weddings I prefer wider (and walkabout too).
