This is nothing short of a masterpiece. What the average person doesn't know or see is the fact when doing work like this, even if it's a simple cutting board. One slip or over cut requires adjustment to other work pieces as well or the pattern will not work perfectly. Also the titanic amount of prep work involved is nothing short of crazy. Great work my man.
What I most appreciate about this channel is you’re not using high end Festool tools and industrial equipment to achieve a remarkable result. Just every day affordable stuff and homemade jigs. Brilliant!
Then you're blind, son. I caught at least 4 Festool devices. Also, what HD isle you finding bandsaws like that? Come on bruh. This is FAR from a common setup. Not even most pro furniture shops have this many goodies.
You are the hi end or the low end in your shop. Your attention to to detail determines your skill level no matter what tool is in your hands. You can have the finest tools in the world and still not turn out a piece of art like this. Ryan Hawkins did a fantastic job here!

But, knowing how to do these things, even if we wont be able to practice the full stack project, is still great.
I like a lot about this project, but I have to tell you it is your well-organized, spacious, and tidy workshop that really caught my eye. I make my own beehive equipment, and for just a second I thought you could be making the worlds fanciest beehive.

This table is a masterpiece of a forgotten generation. Nobody goes so far to do things like dove tailing and the like. This is a beautiful table and you have done a job that most professionals in this line of work would be stroking their beards in envy over. What a talent you have my friend. Your video alone is a masterpiece. Keep up the excellent work and good luck with your next job.
Oh, sure they did. You just don't see the pieces anymore. ...mostly because when you completely entrap 5 different species of wood inside of one another with glue the orient their respect grains literally every which way, it's a matter of time before you get a really humid summer and the piece will start to tear itself apart. You don't make a piece like this for your great-grandchildren. It's be falling apart by then (and pretty much impossible to service). For the same reason you wouldn't build one for a client unless they insisted (you'd try to steer them in a different direction, because f'real: you're NOT gonna be able to service this thing). No, this is a labor of love, for the sheer fun of it. It's pretty amazing marketing/advertising too. But outside something small, like a cutting board? A piece like this... as exquisite as it is... is really just a novelty/impressive flex. I'm not knocking it, at ALL, mind. But compared to some of the intarsia from the Elizabethan era? Oh, trust me: nobody's forgotten how to do it. It's just a damn nightmare TO do (and 10x WORSE when one has to do all the video post afterwards, TOO, if I don't miss my guess.)
@@brandonbennett127 It appeared that when he was making the drawer, he used dovetails for the joints of the boards. If I am mistaken, it's ok, the entire job is still excellent.
It's really refreshing to see someone building something without the "best" tools. Nothing against creators that have a wall of Festool products, but you don't need all that to make cool stuff. Great job man!
@@Scott_A you’re right, perspective is important. My point was that he has tools that are more affordable for most people. His table saw is a $700 Ridgid not a $5000 sawstop. He’s got a $400 dewalt planer and not a $6000 Hammer planer jointer combo. It’s a good of example of using what you have to make something beautiful and to not fall into the trap of thinking you need the most expensive tools to do anything.
This is really a very nice table. It seems so simple, but in reality it is a lot of work. There is also a great eye for details. I call this a masterpiece, thanks for sharing. It was a pleasure to watch.
Yeah I was just thinking this is fairly simple, but you need really well tuned equipment to pull this off. You see the full setup with the planer, digital angle finder for the perfect miter etc. Yes a lot of people could build this, but no it wouldn't look as perfect without some real craftsmanship, and those minor details can really scream about someone's experience level. It's crazy how even if you're just missing 10% quality, that can be a big difference when you're comparing work.
This reminds me more than most woodworking videos, that it doesn't just take skill to create such a beautiful complex piece, it takes patience, a LOT of patience.
I don't really like woodworking, never subscribed to a woodworking channel before but this guy deserves it. Unique work, extremely skill and time intensive, no song and dance just letting the work speak for itself. Well done!!
What an absolutely marvelous end result! I love the pattern of the top, how you constructed the bottom--the whole thing is absolutely gorgeous. The *only* thing I, as a customer with a touch of OCD would ask for is that the handles on the drawers should be symmetrical. Flip that right hand drawer pull over and this is 100% perfection.

the table will be beautiful but too much wood has been wasted :-( to make it, campaigns are carried out to raise awareness of the waste and then ......., the work of art and create with waste material, give it new life, like my amphora-shaped vase in 6kg stratified wood, one meter high, made entirely of waste wood, oak, fir, walnut
A few thoughts: WOW, what a great looking table. The time and attention to detail is amazing. Its nice to see a craftsman that does not need the BLING tools. A masterpiece built with "everyman" tools. Awesome
watching videos like this is what got me into furniture and woodworking. seeing works like this off the affordable contractor equipment convinced me I could in fact do it too. 6 years later and now i have all the bling tools and while it may have removed some extra sanding or planning the end results are the same. the bling tools speed up the setup and assist in repeatability but its the skill and creativeness of the craftsman that truly makes the difference.

The coffee ☕️ table turned out awesome, and I know I'm a year late seeing this video but hayho 😊. It must have taken you days if not weeks when doing just the table top, let alone the copious amount of woodglue that you had to use, I'd love to see how it has held up over the past 12 months etc. Had this been my project and with it turning out so good honestly I'd have been following everyone around with coasters and telling people that they had to use them otherwise they had to re-sand and finish the table top from scratch. Too nice to ruin with coffee stains !!!. As always buddy 💯% 👍 🇬🇧.

Dovetails? I see no dovetails in this table. Looks like your mistaking finger joints as dovetails.

Love this table, and I appreciate how you stepped through the whole process. One question I had about the build: how did you decide to connect the base to the top?
@24:50 you see slots cut in the base so likely Z clips .
I used offset clips that screw into the underside of the top and rest inside a small dado cut on the inside of the base frame.
