I think the people that like Nanci,love her and really connect with her emotionally as a storyteller. Most folks don`t get it though. I have tried to introduce some of her songs to friends without much success. Their loss.

Yes, tall and model-esque. I fell in love with Nanci at the 1990 Bumbershoot Festival in Seattle, where she played solo. Great show, she had everyone on their feet. I can't count the times I've teared up listening to a Nanci Griffith song, and I'm devastated by "Gulf Coast Highway" every time I hear it.

I totally agree. I was just watching If These Walls Could Speak and people are making crass comments about what she is wearing!!! To say they don't get it is being kind.
When on Grafton street, be sure to take the " Literary Pub Crawl". It`s a great walking tour of Trinity College and numerous pubs of historical significance being led by a couple of actors that act out passages of famous Irish plays and novels.
Absolutely lovely, I used to stay up late just listening to "Flyer" (the album from which this track is from). The years have past, and its been a while since I last heard it, but it still sounds beautiful and unique.
Saw her in Newport Rhode Island in on an august summer night in 2005 and she and the band were just incredible. Nancy was taller than I thought she was. Her ballads are the sweetest. Her and Emmylou Harris my 2 favorites for all time.
Interesting. I knew her segment had to be taped because of the time zone difference, but a few weeks is quite a difference!! Magic indeed. Must have been a fun mix gig.

If you're ever coming to Ireland again, give me a shout and I'll reserve ye a spot on one of the side streets which are ohhhh about 20 times morre congested now as they were in 95. We almost lost Bewleys. They closed for good at some stage but there was such an uproar from the public that they reopened again bigger n better than before. I mean c'mon, where else were folk gonna meet n chat over the best coffee in the world? @carolynA2..great playlist.Subbed big time!!
@macphreshie It was pedestrianised in the late 70s or early 80s not sure. But it was supposed to be the peoples street, you know, for buskers and street theatre, but I've never had a day on Grafton St busking or sellin' whatever I was into at any given time without getting harassed by the gardai...thems the Irish police.Its a very upmarket shopping st mainly, with a few hardened buskers and backpackers eaking out a daily living, just as long as a single shop doesn't complain to garda/gardai.
