James Dewar was criminally underrated as a singer. His soulful voice haunts me to this day.
It’s not that Dewar was underrated. Most people just didn’t know who he was. Amazingly, many listeners assumed Trower was the vocalist until they saw the band live. Dewar’s voice was the most important ingredient in this band’s overall sound. I went to see Trower after Jimmy passed and was greatly disappointed. No other vocalist could fill his shoes. Another shining star who never had the opportunity to realize his full potential. I’m a big fan of the Scottish vocalists- Alex Ligertwood, Dan McCafferty, and, of course, the unparalleled Jack Bruce- the epitome of vocal excellence!
What a great blues singer. He blends so well with Robin's guitar work.🙏👍
Trower Trio : Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame . Vote 🗳 For This To Happen ! 🌹
I agree what gives this trio should be in the hall of fame already
Yes it’s very in the soul
Trower for the rock n roll hall fame.
The RRHOF is a political organization, nothing more. At this point it's more of a compliment to not be there.
True
James Dewar. One of the most soulful vocalists of all time.
Goosebumps every time.
Agreed 100%
I just.did
Robin is smiling after the solo, and James looks at him like, "yeah, this is a good version"
For JAmes Dewar is the greatest rock'n'Roll blues vocalist ever.
@@Trower22 yes !!!
Robin Trower is a hero of mine...but Jimmy Dewar was the key to this band. He was one of the best vocalists in rock history, shamefully unknown and under appreciated.
James Dewar is exceptional!! And Robin is near Jimi!!
Would've loved to have sat down and had a drink with James Dewar! What a cool fella! RIP.
@Chris Manzi They also complemented one another!!
Yeah this is just totally next level only Voodoo Chile (the long version) am I aware that is better...
Robin's sound is so intoxicating and powerful
Someone should start a FB or website of under appreciated and underestimated guitarists. I also nominate Prince (formerly known as).
I couldn't agree more. Paul Rogers had to of fashioned his voice after Mr. Dewar
No one just wakes up and says I want to be a bass player singer. James did.
Always been a big fan of Trower!
And James Dewar, well he'll send chills down your back with that voice.
Shame he's gone, he was great!
James voice and Robins guitar playing are euphoric. These 2 musicians were made for each other.
William Shilling Like Rodgers and Kossoff.
Euphoric but tragic, deeply.
I think Robin trower is probably the best guitar player I've ever heard and his singers are always good too I really enjoy them
James and Robin were the perfect match.
@@queenoflight6033 right
Robin Trower- Waiting to Live the Dream.
James.... what a haunting voice, RIP brother...
Dewar and Trower, two of the best in rock and two of the most under appreciated for their talents. Go figure.
He picked up the the guitar and he went. With. Him. Playing. Great.
I remember in '74 or '75 I saw Robin Trower, had 3rd row, he opened for Slayed. About 5 minutes into Bridge of Sighs his amp head blew up and caught fire. He was not pleased at this, his crew brought out a new head and he started Bridge of Sighs from the beginning. It was awesome watching that band basically playing that song twice back to back. Robin Trower is a true perfectionist! By the time Slayed was done, I could not hear out of my left ear. It took two weeks to have some of my hearing back on that side, and to this day I have very little high frequency hearing out of my left ear. Was it worth it? Hell yeah! Loudest concert I have ever been too, and I have seen quite a few!
Yeaaaahhh baby. Sweet sweet sounds. Wait a sec... 1975. San Francisco. Trower. How is it that the camera isn't just capturing a smokey haze? Must be good ventilation in that place at that time.
Like below mentioned we're in our own club. There's Trower die hard fans (and FZappa aficionados too, Me !) that absolutely love these awesome toonz that others can't grasp the depth ? Guess had to be a hard rocker from back in the day : )
I was 17 years old when I drove from Fremont to Winterland with high school friends . Mirror balls Sticky fingers -Dead banners, black lights .Now in 2023 at 65 this sounds better than ever..
I was 15. My brother took me and a couple friends. Eternally grateful!!!!
Love this song, its a classic. What about James Dewar ? Singing without trying, One of the finest Blues Vocalists you will ever hear. The X factor my Arse !!!!!!!!!!!!!
James Dewar ---- so, Soooo OUTSTANDING as a vocalist !🙌🎸👍🙋🔥
James Dewar , Robin Trower, Bill Lordan,..not forgetting Reg Isidore,...they produced music that was on a different level,...I grew up listening to every song,..every vocal nuance, drum beat, guitar string bend,..it was a magical time full of hope,..I will cherish forever,...thank you Robin Trower band,..never to be repeated.
I couldn't have said it any better. This was my first paying indoor concert. I was 15 and had listened to Trower so I knew most of the songs. I was up at the stage, right hand side Trower's sound setup was legendary. Today I'm 61 and wear hearing aids. Go figure.
Trower is one of my all-time favorites....
Most under rated Guitarist all time
sanitycrze ?
Lobe to see the man . Help
Ye all Fuķing dead rock on
You better believe it. Not once, when discussing Great Guitarists have I ever heard a Single Person, besides myself, bring up the name Robin Trower. Where have these people been and who have they been Listening to? They've been asleep and listening to too many Commercial Acts. My Top 2 Guitarists of All Time are Robin Trower and Terry Kath.
Mick Taylor and Dave Davies are also underrated but i Agree.
Saw them in concert in Santa Monica in '74...I had a departure of 102 degrees.. Went to concert anyway..and glad I did!!!❤❤❤❤❤
I can't wait much longer.
Robin has proven that just because a Guitarist is super fast dosent mean it’s something people want to hear . Rather Melody , Rhythm Played Slowly is actually very Difficult to do . This is Deep Blue Soul Music At it’s Finest .
So, so true! Case in point, Bridge of Sighs. Slow as molasses, but it is oooooh soooo good to the ears!
GawdDAMN, Robin Trower always gives me goosebumps… This song, and “daydream” in particular! And James Dewar, and Bill Lordan - my favorite lineup. I wish somebody could clean up the sound on this though, hell, I might attempt it myself!👍❤️☮️🎸
It's interesting to note that you don't hear a lot of people or any really, who attempt Robin's songs. His playing is so much the sound and feel of the song that one would really have a hard time coming up to that level even just a little bit. But song after song, Robin expresses so much raw and soulful intensity that he transcends the instrument. I think it comes down to how modern artists just don't have as much to express. I'm not aware of any modern artist or group who come even close to the power, song craft and intensity of Robin Trower except for Chris Duarte and Frank Marino.
Probably will never see a Robin Trower cover band
This live version is better than the album. Funny thing is when ever I’m playing Trower in the house or car, everyone says “Who is that singing”?
Danke für deine tolle Einschätzung,Joshua....ich kann sie nur mit dir teilen... 👍👍
patience and more patience. the difference is you probably got a day job to keep up with too. Rock on
We did 3 of their songs. People went nuts trying to figure out who it was. Lol. Day of the Eagle, Bridge of Sighs and Too Rolling Stones.
Does it get any better than this?? Huh?? They must have played this awesome song SO many times - yet they are still into it
Hell, a revelation on every level.
every day's goes and goes....................... and then they don't
Robin gives it all on this one.....WOW..what a great guitar slinger.........RESPECT....
For the younger, Robin was the guitarist for Procol Harem before going solo. Check out "Skip Softly my Moonbeams" and get a perspective. He is in a league of a few. Those whose music can take you places deep inside the mind.
Robin when i have a bad day your classics pull me through dont know what it is you hit the best notes. The lyrics too. Man. Just great. Its like a rock i can stand on. Life without music would be a big mistake
The intensity of that second solo is hair raising 😱
Back in the day, 70s and early 80s I attended a lot of their shows I wish now I could have appreciated the greatness I was witnessing on vocals. What a knucklehead I was. James, what an incredible voice. Thank you, RIP
You’re not alone.
I saw the Bridge of Sighs tour in Hampton,VA. in 1977 when I was a 19 year old sailor. Still sounds awesome.
Miss that voice. Rip.
James Dewar was one of the best rock vocalists that ever lived !!....easily the equal of any of the frontmen that gained more fame !!....Trower also was a guitar god !!
This line up was my first ever rock concert. And to this day the best I have ever seen. 1975, Liverpool Stadium.
That's funny. I looked up Robin Trower, my first concert, was on August 3, 1975. Then you saw him in Liverpool three weeks later on the 28th. I guess we are both older than 35, right?
@@kenshiloh A tad. 😁
It's sad that Trower isn't more successful than he already is. But at the same time it's cool that he has die hard fans. It's like we are in a club that the rest of people can't understand. Robin belongs to us!
Amen! Starcina Band!
Lol heck yeah
I GET THAT! Cause if U weren't there U would not get it.
Some of THE MOST "Spellbinding" music of all times.💧🙌💓
@@theresatyler4043 And you might be in a "Daydream"
can you see the bridge!
Reg Isidore - the Heartbeat Rythmn of the Such - in Which - and - As too Be...
This is just so zen like Robin, Jimmy a perfect combination!
My favorite song of his. Listen to the soul pouring out. Amazing job by my Namesake .
Holy Fucking Christ, did you hear that shit??????

Jaa! zeg ik ook! Saw Trower live in 1978 with James Dewar rip sir.
This is my absolute favourite Robin Trower song . I can play most of it
Very great track one of the Best by Trower! The Best version is made Illinois from state to state accrocs america!

Yes - Agreed
Got to be one of the best voices ever. James Dewar’s vice just makes me feel good. Not too many can sing this good. Definitely the best days where with Robin Trower Band!
What is it about this song -- I get the chills when RT hits those unison octaves...
Never fails to happen!
I have not heard this for years and years -- and right on cue, " Brrrrrrr......"
Thank you for ALL the absolutely incredible stuff from this show.
Blessings
Lauren Peot Great Song For Sure
I understand!!!! Hit me back..Chris!... putzilla!
Itz because he kills it n we get to listen !!! N feel!!!... putzilla!
Tears come to my eyz! Putzilla!!!
This is Im sure my favorite song from Mr. Trower.
Should have been on Rockys workout song in part 1. So happy I found this music genre.❤
I would like to see another guitar instructional CD from Robin Trower so he can teach the magic of some of his songs before it’s too late , we are all getting older.
Gut Wrenching Blues By A Gifted Guitarist And Dewars Vocals To Match Perfectly
It doesn't get better than this! Rock genius!
Just getting back into listening to Trower! I almost forgot how great he was.
I've mentioned early Robin Trower with James Dewar on vocals as some of the ultimate concerts I ever saw, and I saw Zep in 1977, original Lynyrd Skynyrd and many others. Robin is a true guitar and music God, at least in my opinion.
Was....is.....and always will be Sean
Might be the greatest rock collaboration of all time; Trower's guitar, Dewar's in-F'n-credible vocals, the drum work and the song writing on this one in particular, number 1 side 1 of the first album. Why is this band not in the hall of fame? It might embarrass the other acts enshrined there.
Every day gets stronger.
I can't wait much longer
Oh beautiful!
Jimi Hendrix would have been very proud of R.T.
Apparently they were friends: I only found that out recently
Trevor
Robin was playing like that in Poco, before Jimi!!!
Poco? I'm lost.
@@timhuggins7069 the band Poco Harem, Robin was the guitarist before he left to form his own band...

This song still brings tears to my eyes, after all these years. Delivered with so much passion and musicality!
I saw Robin Trower in January 1975. I was in the 8th row right in front of James Dewar. The band opened up with Day of the Eagle. They were so powerful and sounded incredible. When they played this song, I was floored. You know how some songs/bands have a tremendous impact on you - almost life changing. Well this song was like that for me. I think this is the most powerful piece of music Trower ever wrote. It's up there with Stairway by LZ. All three of these musicians were exceptional that night. Until I saw Rush, the Who, or LZ, I didn't think three people could make such a big sound. It's not about volume, it's about chemistry and musical ability. I've read the comments here on how good James Dewar was on vocals. Trower was a giant, and still is. I can't believe how few people in America remember or know who he is. I'm a guitarist and play several of his songs in my band. This one being my favorite.
First song out of the box lady love people went nuts in the concert second time and seen it
We know my friend, we know, but I hear you. Lol
Yes… This is one of my favorites… Another is “daydream”…
James Dewar was a rock vocal giant who died too young. Robin Trower is seminal in the world of rock guitar - sometiems more like Hendrix than Hendrix himself. Unreal tune - classic!
Almost 63 and I've been listening to this band since 1974. Seen them in 1975 on 15th birthday still one of the best concerts I've ever seen
Thank you Jesus.
Ive been listening to robin and james dewar since I was 23 years old
Jimmys vocals stunning
When you play great guitar but don't sing that well, you hire some one of Dewar's caliber he wasn't heard enough I don't think .
I was just about 14 yrs old my Cousin turned me on to Trower an some awesome smoke now I'm 50 yrs old still listening to Trower rock on
James Dewar - The Chords and Voice of Future Past.
Nothing better than these three masters of music! Always love me some Trower! So lucky to have seen him a few times in small venues.
JD best vocalist ever in my book and he played a precision
So good
Keep the spirit of James Dewar alive. Buy his Stumbledown Romancer CD.
Great album, some really cool tunes on it.
this is just so words dont even come to mind this is just too amazing
EXCELLENT Great Blues tune.
Like all great bands it’s the sum of the parts. What a sound from three musicians! Trower wouldn’t sound so sublime unless supported by Dewar’s powerful bass playing and soulful voice set against the understated drumming of Bill Lordan. Possibly my favourite Trower track?
The first solo was mind-blowing..the second...whatever's better than mind-blowing.
Would love to have this full concert on dvd.
I did a tab for this version. Not the solos, but the main riffs.

Best guitar ever! The live LP recorded in Stockholm got the juciest, most dynamic version ever captured on vinyl! Can not beat that!
How magic works in the Real World
This soug is timeless. Go Robin.

jimmy dewar was way up there with paul rodgers as a vocalist
el bib Definitely. That’s just what strikes me too.

Better than!
Remember when the much admired and sorely missed Bill Hicks screamed from the stage " play from your fucking heart !! " . .well thats what Robin Trower does . .sublime
Robin Trower has great material, is one of rock's great guitarists and James Dewar so unique and magical a vocalist. But so underappreciated. If you love music, seek out GREAT music.
the DLT years were the best. Dewar, Lordan and Trower...
Robin is, like Satriani, a hero of mine, seen him tons of times. However, Jimmy was part of my
musical upbringing. Saw him play in Stone the Crows in a wee bar in Glasgow where the
band regularly played. I keep wishing he was still alive and treating us to that marvellous
vocal ability. Trower and Dewar were a match made in heaven.
Like I tried to tell people in 1975! Eric Clapton was God! Robin Trower is, was and always will " B" God of the Electronic Guitar! Now can he please get the Noble Peace Prize and we can get on to the next USA Freemasonic 1933 Nazi Covid 19 " Olympics!"
Oh I always agree! James Dewar we one if the finest English Lyrical Harmonie Blues white boy Singer of all time and space! I just always wanted to learn how to play Guitar like that with a Wah Wah pedal and a phase shifter and distortion to Al Stewart's " Nostadamus, get it!

Trower's guitar work is dope...and James Dewar's vocals are magnificent.
She hasn't yet made up Her mine.
Trower is simply the best unknown guitarist in the world. This trio is all about power rock.
I'm telling ya. This was the bomb....mrdewar.rip
I honestly feel sad for those who've never heard one of the greatest pairing of singers and players ever. Can't help to wonder if things not seen, things not heard and things not felt ultimately find such loss in diminished lives and shattered futures.
Unknown? Who says this, come on man or girl where you been?❤
