In the UK, one has to do 11 years of schooling and then 2 years 'A' levels before going for an undergraduate degree studies. I always wondered how could those who did 10+2 in India join directly in BSc? Many universities offer nowadays foundation year (one year of pre-university course). Wouldn't you have to join the foundation year course before starting BSc?

So, year 1 in the UK is similar to Upper Kindergarten (UKG) in India, hence year 13 is equivalent to 12th grade. I’m enrolled on a BSc program straight after 12 th. Foundation years are usually for those who haven’t met the entry requirements or prerequisites.

@@stephencrasto4130 In the UK, many do 2 years of schooling (Nursery [equivalent to LKG]) and Reception [equivalent to UKG]) before entering into year 1 in primary school. Therefore 11+2 in the UK (except Scotland where 11+1 schooling exists) is not the same as 10+2 in India. For this exact reason, the UK student joins university when (s)he is 18 years old whereas the Indian student's average age is 17 when (s)he completes 10+2 schooling.
