  • The Ryobi P421 One+ Angle Grinder is an awesome battery-powered tool for grinding or cutting on the go. The grinding wheel is a little difficult to remove once it tightens on from use, but that's a minor complaint considering it is self-tightening for safety.
Overall this feels like a solid tool great for small projects that would be a hassle to use a corded tool for.
You can find the grinder here on Amazon: amzn.to/2H1ndiJ

Thanks for this review. Took me a min to fig out the wheel stop. The factory had tightened the clamp nut pretty tight....Other reviews didnt cover this 👍

I've been using that angle grinder for awhile now and it is the weakest grinder I've ever used - but I still really like it. I use it almost exclusively for cleaning and sharpening my mower blades, so power and run-time are not an issue for me. If I need a more powerful grinder, I have corded grinders. Dewalt, Makita and Milwaukee make cordless angle grinders that are almost as powerful as a good corded model, but of course you're going to pay the price. This grinder is only $40 and if you're already into the Ryobi system I think it's a no-brainer.
I should also mention that Ryobi makes a brushless version but it's 2 1/2 times the price and they changed the power switch to a lock-on type switch which I don't like. It has more power that the brushed grinder, but it's certainly no Dewalt.

Exactly, you're not going to do any heavy duty work with this, but the price and power are perfect for the occasional use DIY'er or use in areas where a corded tool would be impractical.

I also have a Makita corded grinder, which as you would expect is a really good tool, but I recently picked up a Ryobi corded rat tail angle grinder for the regular price of $40 and it's probably the best grinder, for the price, that you can buy. Believe it or not the $10 Harbor Freight grinder is pretty good for light duty work. I pushed mine way beyond what it was meant for and it still runs.
The whole thing is to recognize what you can, and what you can't do with a light-duty grinder. You have these clowns who buy the $10 HF grinder and say that it didn't last a week in their fab shop. No kidding.

What is the amp hour rating of the batteries you are using? That seems pretty quick, maybe a bad battery or tool.
