Mr. Marentes... I can't thank you enough for taking me back to the scene of the crime on that bridge right off Indian School & San Mateo. I'm kinda speechless after seeing this. I've been waking myself up in the middle of the night, screaming at the top of my lungs, since this happened in '92! My life was completely altered because of that incident, which led me to move to a small town in Colorado in '94, where I spent the next 12 years, which ultimately lead me to the Pacific Northwest. Funny how you make plans and something happens and sends you in a different direction in life. On a lighter note: I really look forward to your videos. I think it's definitely a healing thing for me to revisit ABQ through your videos... I remember when the tv show, Breaking Bad came on. A friend showed me an episode and I was instantly hooked, because I recognized a lot of the film locations. Now I'm hooked on your channel and can't wait for the next video... Be safe out there brother! Btw, I'm joining your channel for membership perks👍👌🙏
@@PNWdude777 Thanks for sharing your current situation. My heart breaks for you and your continued night terrors. I’ve just got to offer a little advice because so much has been accomplished with PTSD treatment modalities, including using Ketamine. In 3 sessions people are so much better. If the reputation of liberal attitudes and values pervades in your area of the PNW, there IS a specialist that can help. And covered by insurance!!! Please google search it. As I mentioned in another comment, I walked that trail all the time 20 years ago when I lived close (I’m in the Nob Hill area now). Once though, I’m recalling, it was too cold and dark so I chose to walk East on Indian School. Around Pennsylvania a car pulled up and it was actually a police officer letting me know he’d keep an eye out for me. I told him I’m headed for Juan Tabo (at least) and it was gonna be a 3 hour trip… getting light out soon but THANK YOU! Of course, his location meant he was close to the walking path at that time of day. What I’ve loved about Albuquerque is all the bike paths that make it easy to get around without encountering vehicles BUT it is a different story and experience now. You may not want to consider it but I’m still blaming Reagan. Right up thru my time at UNM we cared about and for vulnerable populations in a much better way. I know it’s a polarizing subject and there is no ONE solution. Many that choose to remain “criminal” (illegally occupying public / private spaces and panhandling, mugging, and stealing) SHOULD be in long term inpatient facilities, “maybe” in prison. Others just really need serious, not bandaid financial support. Without enough housing available it’s actually more expensive (decent hotels, etc). What I’ve been VERY BOTHERED with is learning food stamp programs don’t allow for the purchase of COOKED FOOD. WTF? A gaggle of homeless could gather resources: one get a roasted chicken. Another mashed potatoes and vegetable. Another some decent drinks… tea or soda. 4 people could eat and not worry about trying to prepare a meal; or mug someone, either. And… if they’re psychotic and KNOW they must avoid people… they just get McDonald’s. They’re mentally unstable, not monsters or stupid. We treat people so badly they’ve got little choice than to act out. And I hate that you were attacked. I’ve been mugged at gunpoint 3x. I know! So much more than my fair share!!! Now that I’m older I’m just not willing to go out at night. Damn shame, actually. I’m struggling but still trying to remain in a positive mindset without fear. Getting and staying there takes therapy. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is treatable. PROMISE. Considering it’s NYE I’m offering up a salutation: Happy New Year!!!
That is Kennedy Middle school over on Tomasita. Jefferson is on Girard and Lomas. I went to school at Jefferson. But wow, that path is kinda confined with almost a mile between ways to get off. I have never ridden that path. Probably because I hit the foothills and the Bosque when I visit.. That sucks about the fellow getting jumped.
Yeah, I meant to say Kennedy, but said Jefferson by mistake, my bad! I was talking and not thinking, as usual. I am too busy with the bike. Thanks for watching brother!!!
Wild. 20 years ago I lived close to Winrock Shopping Center and I walked that trail often on weekends… beginning at about 6 am, heading East to Tramway… total of about 6 miles to / fro and wouldn’t see anyone. IF we weren’t so focused on shunning homeless and “making them hide away” maybe they’d seek those hotel room vouchers, those beds at the shelters, those treatment programs at The Gateway Center. Shelters kick people out at 6 am and they’ve got no place to go so… isn’t it easier to just find a place where you’re gonna meet up with friends, junkies, dealers and people to prey upon for the duration rather than go, set up and then get kicked out? You bet it’s “better” to try to “possess” a place with a tent, or inside a tunnel. Mayor Keller inherited a problem and any other politician will, too. At least the Mayor’s support and City Council approved the zoning upgrades to duplexes and ADUs in locations close to transportation hubs (and didn’t have to take a lot of those projects to the public to vote on… like I said at the beginning… there’s a lot of NIMBYISM. Anyway… what is this massive systemic problem? Housing. Albuquerque is 30,000 units low. More and more people live alone so it’s adding pressure as well. Homes are generally still zoned and limited to people related. Halfway houses for people out of rehab, out of jail, out of any mental or physical health care can’t easily join together to become roommates. Thanks for the video. As your popularity grows… perhaps you can do bike tours. I say this as much as a concern for your safety as another way to highlight just that: safety in numbers. Travel with a buddy. Peace!
That empty lot that was on the corner down on Alvarado that used to be where my mom's house was ..We were in the middle of remodeling it and the people who were in the area at the time took over it and it was deemed as a problem house and the city knocked it down a couple hrs ago... the area has gotten worse during the summer especially

i used to live at the appartments at the 415 mark. I got broken into 10 times in 5 yrs. Management never fixed the holes in the fence. Needles and trash all up and down that side of the ally. Glad i left because that ally was a problem
I had a guy in a ski mask with a gun try to stop me on while biking on the winrock side of the pedestrian bridge over I-40 by the movie theater in broad day light. Luckily i was going fast enough to avoid and ditch him. There were actually two guys, one with a mask on and his pudgy friend without who looked 15 years old, i dont believe they were homeless. This was a year and a half ago approximately.
Your chest camera is the best view. Can you do a 2 picture view. One helmet so we see what you see and chest view. Chest view is main and helmet cam in the corner top right corner
