- Stoked to finally get out and host an e-bike group ride! It was a great time covering 5k vert and 18 miles in the briones pilot zone.
Less than a year ago all these trails were unsanctioned and now we have legal downhill MTB trails in EBRPD. This is a major win for us MTBers and it's important we continue to treat other trail users with respect so we can keep these trails sanctioned.
If you wanna learn more about the pilot zone here's the info:

If you'd like to know more about the Stewards of Briones, who maintain these trails:

Thanks to everyone who came out and thank you to Mike's Bikes for supplying me with the demo heckler, this couldn't have happened without your support!

Missing the sharp right turn into Curl the Burl
😂 I said at the top, please don’t blow the corner it comes up on you fast. Seems like nobody listened to me!
@@justin_niemi I tell myself that every time and still find a way to blow it LOL
Really enjoying all these posts from local e-bike riders. Finding new places to ride is amazing. Thanks guys!
Thanks man! I appreciate the feedback, have fun out there ✌🏻
The jump
Over the log on Briones. Glad I’m not the only one who found that line. So sick!
I had been eyeing it lately I swore there was a little bump there but never really stopped to look. Drew making it look far too easy 👀
siCk Sesh! Stoked to see the crew enjoying the goods in the park and many thanks for the shout out and link in the description! See you on the trails! 🤘
Anytime y’all! Credit where credit is due. You guys are rad, I enjoyed working with you last month and I can’t wait to see where this goes
Right on, thanks Justin for hosting. I'd be down for a monthly. You youngsters keep this old man on his toes and pushing his limits. .
Thanks for ripping it up with us Banzai, you’re an amazing rider!
@@justin_niemi I just found out you're friends with Lance, lol small ass world.
Condition are only getting better from here🤙🤙 super rad footage
Can’t wait to see what happens over winter with access to water and helping hands 🪓 hope I can get out and do my part!
Good times, def going back out soon💪🏼
Hellova good turn out 💪🏻 had a blast riding with all of you guys! I was following Drew on Lagoon and he’s got some serious steeze.
Yeewwwww! Thanks for coming out, because I don’t recognize your username what bike were you on? 😂 drew is loose I love his style.
@@justin_niemi I’m Nick 👊🏻 I was riding the black Levo with high viz green gloves.
This place looks sick. It's pretty far from me in socal but I'll have to check it out on my way up to OR/WA
Yeah it’s a good one! Not sure it’s destination stop worthy over some other spots in the Bay but it’s not too far off the beaten path if you’re in the East Bay on your way up.
Sweet trail man! Live the little gap jumps into berms hella fun
I cleared the run out at 2:20 last friday. It had tons of sticks and logs pilled at that turn.
Hey man just a few questions. Was this mx or 29er? Low or high mode? And when you set it up do you just go with 30% in rear 20% in front for suspension? Thank you in advance! Keep the content coming! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
This is the MX and I set it up pretty close to how I would setup an analog with some added pressure. Ended up around 25% sag rear and I just tossed 100psi in the fork with 3-4 clicks of LSC.
Cool! I just got a Heckler last week from Mike's Bikes. Might hit me some Briones before Christmas. You have a Strava link?
Heck yeah I hope you love it! What build did you get? strava.app.link/KwYCqWNmFFb
Hopefully that works for ya!
@@justin_niemi Woot! Woot. Thanks. I got the S build on the 29s. What did you demo?
Of all the Santa Cruz Emtbs you’ve tested (Bullit, heckler, SL), which do you prefer for owning long term as a second bike?
It’s been a little while since I’ve ridden a bullit, but it’s definitely one of my favorite e-bikes of all time. If I was buying one right now I think I’d have to choose the Heckler SL because of just how good it felt on trail. Range is definitely close in comparison but it won’t go as far as quickly. I’m hoping to do a heckler vs heckler SL comparison soon hopefully that’ll solidify it a bit more.
beautiful
Thank you! 😊
Just found you, just subscribed. Could you do a side-by-side comparison of both the hecklers, full/SL? Thanks !!
Thanks for the sub! Working on doing a back to back video ASAP, thanks for the recommendation. Hoping to bring my buddy Conner along for the comparison too ✌🏻
Overall, this or the SL?
Right now, I’m on an SL hype hardcore. Waiting to do a day of back to back between bikes then I’ll know for sure. The SL is more manageable on the downs and has a pretty similar range.
Also looking forward to the full vs SL thoughts! @@justin_niemi
Great to see them putting a lot of work into these trails, but what's your take on them destroying lots of other awesome unsanctioned trails and ticketing riders for riding them?
No one wants to see trails destroyed, cookies was one of my favorites and it sucked to see it go. It’s a part of the growing pains in the pilot zone but it was decomissioned for legitimate reasons. Trails that continue to erode like that and run into watersheds are a big no go for CEQA and the EBRPD so we can’t really argue against it.
@@justin_niemi super reasonable response. Admittedly it’s been hard for me to get over some of their seemingly anti-MTB actions and policies. So many other places in the bay have amazing building communities and sick trails that aren’t managed by a parks department, so it’s hard for me to see why they can’t do that in Briones, especially since the community was already there building. But, you’re right, there are legit reasons for why they’re doing what they do, and once the growing pains are through, it’ll be better off.
