Have you ever considered using the Festool hand planer with the rustic cutting head? I do a lot of box beams, faux timber trusses, etc. and found the Festool rustic cutting head a real time saver along with the Porter Cable version of the Restorer. BTW, I love your channel and have developed a real passion for working with barnwood. You have perfected so many techniques that years to learn by trial and error. I can’t thank you enough for sharing your skills with us.
Dusty, you’re the only person I know who understands wood like David Attenborough understands animals. Every video just mesmerises me. Your attention to detail is second to none & your knowledge.
Excellent video. Just a tip for anyone doing this - use a pre-stain wood conditioner before applying the dye and the finish will be much more even. It prevents the excessive take up of the dye/stain in the tear up parts etc
Dusty, I’m trying to find the video of these beans where you showed your “secret sauce” for the coloring and weathering…can’t find it any, ore…can you lead me to it or make a video of making and using it again. Thanks, Mike
