Lodge Cast Iron Mini Wok Review | Making No-Slime Stir Fried Okra

- In this episode we're doing a review of the Lodge 9-inch mini wok and making stir fry okra with bacon and green onions. The cooking surface of the mini wok has a slight texture. While food didn' stick to it badly, it will take a good bit of use before it is what I would call "non-stick." The pan is a nice size for one or two people. The fact that it is a bit deeper than most skillets is a plus and makes it easier to use.
Side note: We've found that when we cook okra stir-fry style, it isn't at all slimy. It's wonderful. You get all the flavor of the okra without the ick.

Thank you so much for sharing. You are the only one really gave me the image of what exactly the size of the wok.
You're welcome. Thank you for watching.
Love the size. I always use bamboo spatula/spoon.
It's such a super convenient little size. Makes it fun to use. Bamboo is awesome!
did not know lodge even made a wok , good info and video . okra dish looked good
I know right? We were surprised too. Thank you for watching and the kind words.
Bought this today. Was looking for something small for deep frying crispy popcorn chicken , crispy baby squid , fried fish etc. I know I will enjoy using it
Cool! Sounds like the perfect fit.
I ordered one thanks!
Cool. Enjoy! Thanks for watching.
I enjoyed your review and really like the small size. I'm considering getting it. QUESTION PLEASE: What is the measurement of the BOTTOM'S "FLAT BURNER PLATE"? I'm HOPING it measures less than 5" inches on it's flat surface.
Thank you so much. I just measured the flat bottom and it is 5.5 inches in diameter.
@@wobblyotteroutdoors I am so grateful happy that you measured it for me. I believe it would work perfectly with my mini griddle! My griddle currently has a skillet (dia of 4.7" ) but a WOK is so much easier to Stir-fry in when the dia is a mini size so I've been trying to find a suitable upgrade. The LODGE seems to be that suitable answer!
😊 🙏 😊 🙏
Wonderful. I hope it will work well for you. It is such a nice size.
I just ordered this 9” wok this morning. Going to make the okra first.
Aww. It's such a nice little wok. Happy okra cooking.
Here in the u s a
I got the 6.25 size
Gonna have a leather worker make a belt pouch for it, the Firebox nano just fits at the very top,
in its white pouch,
So when i put the lid on
It is silent, no DING, to alert any predators,
" OH, THERE they are"
Where i live, we have mountain lion, black bear, and grizzly,
So guns are like your shoes, put em on,
The weight of the 6.25 size should make a great couter weight with the gun on the other side...
Thanx for the video.
I want the 6.25” to use for pot pies. Lodge’s mini wire-bail cauldrons are just a teeny bit too small for good-sized pot pies; they’re like a portion for 2/3s of a person. They’re so cool otherwise.
Awesome insightful review.
As a single person who cooks on gas at home and while out and about in the wilderness, to include camp fire possibilities, I am looking for a universal cookware piece.
This Lodge 9 inch medium sized hybrid Wok, as well as the IMUSA 14 inch light cast iron Wok both caught my attention as possibly being just right for my situation.
Would you or anyone else have any experience with the comparison of these two pieces of cookware?
Thank you, @Kaido Ojamaa. We haven't yet tried the IMUSA 14-inch cast iron wok. It looks and sounds like a nice wok. Because of the size alone, may I suggest the larger 14-inch size. The 9" Lodge cast iron wok is quite small.
I love my mini wok as its just me and i camp full time
Well how wonderful is that! Couldn't ask for a better recommendation than that.
👍 review those are nice for frying fish and chiken
Too cool. I guess that little extra height comes in handy for frying too.
Great video. Thanks 👍
Thank you, and you're welcome. 😊
Good video another good feature of your cast iron is made the USA
Thank you. Yes!... Like seeing the made in USA mark.
Looked great thank u.
You're welcome, Eutimio. Thanks for watching.
Take that get a lid put some apples little butter yellow cake mix put it on hot ashes then put some on the lid really good
Nom, nom, nom. You're making me hungry. That sounds so good. I want to give that a try!
Hello, how much volume (In Litre) does it contain ? (Please replay)
@Manoj, it holds 2 liters when filled to the top.
@@wobblyotteroutdoors Thank you very much for the replay
Hi, does that equal 4 cups or 32 oz? Sounds big enough. I think I am getting it :)
2 liters is equal to just over 67 oz. So yes, since it is bigger than you are asking about, I hope it works perfectly.
@@wobblyotteroutdoors Thank you so much for the information. So the volume 67 oz, this is for the 9" mini wok, not the 14" wok, right? Wow, that is very impressive.
Hint from a Southerner: flour your okra and fry, delicious.
Yeah, that's the standard way and we make it that way sometimes. We like this too because it's a tasty change of pace.
How many cup of the rice can put mini wok@@wobblyotteroutdoors
I can see doing this long before spending nearly $400 on a Tembo
😁 Yes.
