    RUclips recommended this video because I was looking a pool a while ago. I clicked on it because it looked like that big one Costco sells, and I wanted to see the scale of it. As I started watching, the area around your house felt familiar. I clicked forward to the sand delivery and I said hold up, that is my old neighborhood and we lived in that corner house past the green one! Small world!

    I use to install ungrounded an above ground pools for over 12yrs. Back in the late 1980s thru 1990s . From top to bottom an you have done a great 👍 job and a very safe job. For your family . I found your video enjoyingandn relaxing to watch . Only other thing I would suggest is a lock for your pool ladder 🪜. Thanks for posting.

    Good job on the install. We did a smaller 9x18 version. You are correct in the ground prep. When they say level ground, they mean 100% level. The pool will not hold up if its on uneven ground. I see you put plywood under the side supports, mine the plywood just sank into the ground from the weight put on those supports. The second year i laid a perimeter of 2x6 for the rails to sit on and that supported them much better. We live in WI so the pool had to come down every year. Each year after, it took about two hours to put back up, super fast. Pool lasted 8 years, best $800 I ever spent. Two things people really should be aware of. If the pool breaks you are going to dump 18,000 gallons of chlorinated water. If the pool is close enough to buildings, that much water can take out a foundation wall. All vegetation will die and your neighbors can file a homeowners claim against you. On the 8th year our insurance company did a drive by of our home "who knew they did that" saw the pool and we received a notice that they would not cover any damage caused by the pool. Kids were out growing it though and we gave it it to friends who lived in out in the country and it lasted them another 4 years. Good memories.

    Bro, you earned my subscribe. I mean, it isnt much these days, but its my way to tell you that you did a great job. Very neatly and precisely done, and I totally disagree with your words that you didnt have an idea of what are you doing; your work was thoroughgoing indeed. I am about half way of rough soil preparation for my Intex circular pool, and I have a solid construction foreknowledge, but good sugestiong are always desirable. I would be sure to use the deepest setting on the sod cutter. I would give more detail to the sand box … make sure it was SUPER sturdy. I would install a solar cover reel from the beginning (essential for me on such a big pool). And once the cyanuric acid levels reached about 25 to 30, I would stop using the chlorine pucks and start using liquid chlorine.

    Great video lots and lots of useful information. One of the best video's out there. What size was your pool? I think you said 18x30 but I can;t seem to find anything that size out there. 16x32 is the biggest by intex. How does your pump do and the final robot worth the money or just manual vaccuum? Also love the underlayment you chose, I see a ton of people using blueboard but I worry about rot with stuff not breathable etc.

      Here is a link to the pool.
      www.splasharoundpools.com/soft-sided-pools/summer-breeze/
      The pool size is 18x30. The pump is great. Our water is always clear (except that I forgot to put chlorine in the pool for a while and we got some algae - made a vid on that too). I love the robot, because it picks up the big chunks like leaves and such. But it doesn't do a super great job on fine particles. Thanks for the positive comment!

      @@myboringchannel What are your thoughts on the robot cleaner after a year? I am looking for a good cleaner to get for my AGP now.

    • @myboringchannel
      @myboringchannel  Год назад +1

      I like the robot cleaner. It is not an all in one solution however, which I was hoping it would be. It cannot pick up tiny particles. So when it is done with a cycle, and everything settles back to the bottom, there are little piles of sediment. It's not much, but if you want it perfectly sparkling clear, you will have to manually vacuum it out.

    used railroad ties for low-level retaining walls are cheaper, and they virtually last forever ... drill holes at each end and drive concrete form stakes, or rebar through the holes to secure them down in place, and cut rebar nails to fasten them together with a chop saw ... best retaining wall for landscaping, as they can be buried, or left exposed.
    wrinkles DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE DAMAGE SMALL WRINKLES IN THE BOTTOM CAN DO TO YOUR LINER Wrinkles should be removed by kicking the walls outwards as it's filling ... IMPORTANT ... if you wait until there's two inches of water in the bottom ... it's too late, and even small wrinkles create big problems ... if this pool lasts two seasons, I'll be surprised ... good news is, the hard work is done

    • @myboringchannel
      @myboringchannel  2 года назад +2

      Well, I guess we will have to see. My neighbor’s pool has tons of wrinkles and it’s been there for seven years. Maybe he’s just lucky.
      Anyway, thank you for the ideas about the railroad ties. That sounds like a nice plan.

    The Intex zx300 is WAY better than the electric ones and it runs off the pressure side, so no suction priming. It's less than 100$ and is wall climing and self naviagting but 100% mechanical. When you get tired of charging your vaccum, check it out.

    Hi I have a 18x9x4 best way Oval pool. Placed on a concrete level slab . But I have two boys and noticed when they play hard the sides of the pool move slightly back and forth. Is that normal movement for an above ground pool? And there is some creaking sound on the right side when the pool rocks

    • @myboringchannel
      @myboringchannel  2 года назад

      The walls will move a bit if people are banging around on them. Mine move around a little bit. And the frame might creak a little bit. That is normal, but I would still check the frame for any signs of wear or damage.

    Is it possible to add a water heater to it?

    • @myboringchannel
      @myboringchannel  2 года назад +1

      Yes it is. We looked at solar heaters, heat pumps and propane heaters. Propane heaters weren’t terribly expensive, but the propane would be very costly over time. Solar heaters require a LOT of space for the solar panels. A roof is best, but make sure your homeowner’s association doesn’t mind. You can put solar panels on the ground as well, but you would have to build a frame for them. A heat pump is the best option in my opinion, but the upfront cost is high. A heat pump also does not work very well when it’s cold. So a heat pump can extend the swimming season by a few months but might not be the best option during cold months.
