The problem with this list is that when it says "Best," it's referring to "Most Well Known."
i swear if i could like comments more then once i totally would on this
Exactly. There's a couple that deserve to stay in here, but I have an entire list of musicals that NEED to be included. These are just popular musicals
Yeah... Clearly no actual criteria and ranking system to work this one out. Don't get me wrong, I like a lot of these. Just would be nice if it wasn't predictable.
@@oliviam238 Hi! What's on your list? Could you share? Thanks. :)
I think these shows are so well known and popular BECAUSE they’re of the best. I’m not saying they all should be on the list, and yes there are others that deserve a spot, but there’s got to be a reason why so many people are familiar with these shows.
I am a die hard fan of Hamilton but I'm not gonna sit here and act like Newsies and Fiddler on the Roof were ROBBED of at least an honorable mention.
Fiddler on the Roof was spectacular. This is too influenced by modernity.
AGREED
Yeah, this entire list just seemed like a "Well Known" list, Newsies is PHENOMENAL and deserved at LEAST number 10.
And "Hairspray" is not better than Hamilton, either!
Mcfunion :3 they could have taken of Cats.
"Hamilton proves that musicals are anything but dead"
Funny, considering so many of the characters were.
...
...
...
...
...
What about classics like Evita, dreamgirls, gypsy, Miss Saigon, into the woods, fidler on the roof, and so much more.
Recency bias is strong in this list.
Agreed. Miss Saigon is missing in this list... and they had no business creating this list if they haven't seen it yet.
@@McWerp it's not bias just a subjective topic
My Fair Lady? Get two leads in that and it crackles, not to mention being based on Shaw...
Sister Act?
*DOES ANYBODY KNOWS LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS?*
I was just wondering about that XD
Delusionaloctopus yes it’s good not sure if one of my top 10 but good,
YES
That's my all time FAVORITE musical. The 1986 film adaptation was just as good!!!
that’s off broadway
Types of people:
1) I only know Hamilton...
2) Wicked is the BEST MUSICAL EVER.
3) I hate Broadway.
4) I’m the biggest broadway fan ever but what is “Phantom of The Opera?”
5) All of you have no idea what your talking about.
Merry Da Berry 2 is somewhat reasonable.
Why am I so 4?!
Nahhh, you forgot one:
6) **suggesting good/bad broadway/off-broadway musicals
#2 because IT IS
I’m 5 dude!! I love broadway. Musical theatre is such a great genre of music and ahhhh
You missed "Miss Saigon"
You may want to consider it
🙌
That show is so underrated tbh
Miss Saigon and In The Hights
True!!! And the first kim, Ms. Lea Salonga nailed it!! She's only 18 back then she played it, yet she can handle that kind heavy scene, and how they performed it, it feels like like its really real, how they give the emotions, and how they sing the songs!
Agreed!!!!!
Miss Saigon should have been on there.
It's incredible. Haven't seen a musical like it since.
Why am I not surprise Wicked, The Phantom of the Opera and Les Miz are the top 3.
Literally, all three of them deserve to be in the first place together.
I was expecting Hamilton to be in the top 3. Number 10? Wtf
Jennifer Ferguson it's probably because it's still technically a newer play and isn't as legendary as some of the others. But still, I can't believe it was number 10.
@@thediyscavengers3022 it was created at 2015.....
Another Obsessive One agreed
DJ Deedge YT les mis was released in 1980, Hamilton is new
*I CAME AS SOON AS I HEARD*
Rebekah Celeste Roldan
All the way from London
Elle Realyay dAMN
Rebekah Celeste Roldan Angelica, thank God. Someone who understands what I'm struggling here to do.
Rebekah Celeste Roldan XD I think we're all on the same page here.
Victoria Sostre i'm not here for you
Hamilton is better than #10!!!
Edit: Even though he is the 10$ bill
Loco Land hamilton is way too new to be one of the best broadway shows
@@sammyi.257 I agree. Let's see if it is still popular in 15 years or so. Even though its good- very good- I don't think it will survive as long as other musicals have been able to.
look i like Hamilton but it doesn’t even compare to some of the legendary musicals who were and weren’t featured on this list. i get that its popular but that doesn’t mean it’s better than most musicals.
Yes I totally agree Hamilton is awesome
True
This list is a popularity concert, and has very little to do with "best."
Not seeing Newsies, Into The Woods, and/or Sweeney Todd anywhere on this list upsets me. Good list nonetheless, though it left out my 3 favs.
I agree with Newsies and Into the woods
They too should be there
I don't know the third one though
Might have to watch it
@SOPHIA TORRES
I don't have enough guts to watch it
I know this might annoy you, but Dear Evan Hansen deserves a place too
Looking back I feel like I made a pun
LMAO THEY SAID HAIRSPRAY WAS BETTER THAN 😂😂😂😂😂
There was another riot in my theatre dorm thanks to you
This comment has made my day!!!!!😂😂
Y e s
Omg me and my friends tho
I feel this so crazy hard
I feel like I should point out here that West Side Story was written by Leonard Bernstein, not Stephen Sondheim.
Stephen Sondheim wrote the lyrics.
CLARIFICATION:
SCORE by Leonard Bernstein,
LYRICS by Stephen Sondheim,
BOOK by Leonard Bernstein, Arthur Laurent’s and Stephen Sondheim.
It is???
@@timothysmith7888 book by Arthur Laurents alone
@@nelson348348 It sure isnt. But he did write the lyrics
NOTHING Rogers and Hammerstein? That is honestly a sin if you are actually a fan of musicals
Ikr!! I'm literally obsessed with the king and I!!
Yeah... they should have maybe done The Sound of Music or Oklahoma!
I am not a R & H fan, but Sound of Music, King and I, South Pacific not even an honorable mention...
Of all I would go King and I with my R&H pick
THANK YOU!!! I thought the same thing!
So you show a clip of Jesus Christ Superstar, but then it doesn’t even get an honorable mention? That’s a low blow, Ms. Mojo. Low blow.
I LOVE JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR
Audrey II TRUE
Well, technically it isn't a musical, it's a rock opera ;)
@@Quembembole they did not even show a clip of Jekyll and Hyde
Jcss easily the best ever.
A Chorus Line should not have just been an honorable mention. It is the ultimate Broadway musical about all the people who audition for Broadway musicals... all the hope and dreams and sweat and agony and jubilation that each person who has ever danced or sung for those producers and directors feels. The characters are so rich and vibrant and the story shows the cutthroat competition of landing a gig on Broadway... Even just to be a member of the background chorus.
I'm not saying it deserved to be #1, but it definitely should have made the list.
That’s your opinion
@@stxrrynxght319 That's like you hearing someone say Beethoven's Ninth is the greatest music ever written, and you saying 'That's your opinion'. Some things are not just a matter of opinion, they are objective fact. Chorus Line is one of the top five musicals ever written, and should have been on the list ahead of dated, derivative crap like Rent, Hairspray and The Lion King.
I was talking about personal taste "that's your opinion", not statistics.
@@stxrrynxght319 So was I.
Jason Hurd No, you're talking about results from surveys taken and popularity. Just because it's popular doesn't mean that EVERYONE likes it or thinks that it deserves to be #1.
None will ever be defined as “the best”,
This is the list of the most popular ones
"Broadway is where you see the Best of the best"
UMMM HELLO THE WEST END!!!!!
Amazing shows that should have been mentioned:
Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812
Falsettos
Fun Home
Hedwig and the Angry Inch
Spring Awakening (especially Dear west)
In the Heights
Oliver
Cabaret
Next to Normal
Into the Woods
And there's so many more
Asa Nestlehutt yes, how could they not have any Sondheim
Aye spring awakening
Clare McCrory I liked In the Heights and Next to Normal
They had West Side Story which was a Sondheim score.
Lafeth Lazuli Yeah Sondheim wrote the lyrics for WSS but Bernstein composed the score, I just would have like at least one Sondheim score as he's a an amazing composer and he's such a huge influence in the development in musicals
I feel like miss Saigon should be in here
I know right?! That musical is so underrated and it's one of my absolute favourites along with Hamilton and DEH
Gigi Louise true
same i love it so much and it didn’t even get an honourable mention?!
Nope
AMENNNN
Miss Saigon? Little Shop of Horrors? Anastasia? Fiddler on the Roof? Newsies?
((Although I do agree with the top two tho😂))
Edit: also Into the Woods?
Of the ones you mentioned, "Miss Saigon" should definitely be on the list. "Anastasia"...really? "Into the Woods"? No.
The Phantom of The Opera is my favourite... thanks to it I started watching actual opera
Me too,The Phantom of the Opera is one of my Top Three favorites.
NEWSIES, MISS SAIGON, SOMETHING ROTTEN, DEAR EVAN HANSEN!!!!
Joojyohncel DEH isn't Broadway
Asha Dear Evan Hansen Is On Broadway.
RIGHT AT LEAST GIVE MISS SAIGON AN HONORABLE MENTION
Asha Dear Evan Hansen IS A BROADWAY it’s one of my favorites besides Tuck Everlasting, Newsies, and Mean Girls
Joojyohncel HAMILTON
"The Phantom of the Opera" is the best musical of all time! End of story! And where is "Jesus Christ Superstar"?!
I hated Phantom (no dis-respect to you) I didn’t like the creepy story and the music was excruciating
Agreed
@@tjwash5118 well to be honest a while ago I hate the phantom of the opera it creeped me out and the music was alright but now I love it and I watch it all the time
jc superstar was mentioned in the beginning, kinda as an honorable mention.
I LOVE The Addams Family. I was casted as Pugsley, and we did our last show today. It was so emotional after
CATS?
CATS is my life
Mr. Mistoffollee (that’s a really hard name to spell)
Mine , too.
Yes!!!
EXCEPT THE LIVE ADAPTATION
Same, bro!
miss saigon doesn't even get an honourable mention??:(((
Jenny Hutchinson IKR MISS SAIGON IS LIKE ONE OF THE BEST MUSICAL EVER
Jenny Hutchinson i agree... Miss Saigon, not only deserved an honorable mention, but deserved to be on this list...
Dude right? Miss Saigon is the best!!!
Jenny Hutchinson EXACTLY
*EXACTLY* But at least its sister musical Les Mis gets #1
Phantom should be number 1.... there's a reason why it's the longest running Broadway show.
leciel YAAAAAAAAAAAAS. THANK YOU
leciel Because of middle aged women and teenage girls that won't stop going to it literally every night? It's good, but overrated.
Sorry what Hazel Grey? That is NOT true
Hazel Grey. Are you serious? If we're gonna talk about overrated, then we're gonna have to bring up Hamilton.
Y'all chill, both of them are overrated. At least MsMojo got #1 right.
I mean...
We all knew Les Mis was coming first
as it should lol
Yes, quite glad it was.
I was expecting Phantom of the Opera, but Le Mis deserves it as well.
yes, such a masterpiece
it is the best
I will never be satisfied. God I hope your satisfied…
Omg I LOVED the lion king musical! It was great
Opal Wolf me too I went to go see it and it’s beautiful I got a shirt!
YES! I've been lucky enough to see it twice
Opal Wolf I am going to see lion king I beat it’s good
Me 2
I KNOW IT WAS SO GOOD
I’m thinking the reason Hamilton isn’t higher is because it’s so new and Les Miserables, Wicked, and Phantom have been around a lot longer.
E. Chadwick How?
E. Chadwick how can a musical not be a real musical? -.-
Mackenzie Esslin
Yea probably but give it a few years and it is gonna be higher for sure
Hamilton: An American Musical isn't a Musical.
How does that shit make sense?
E Chadwick uuhhh how is it not a musical? They sing songs that tell a story. That's like the definition of a musical.
Rent is 5 and I’m like that’s fair
30 seconds later
Number 4 Cats
Throws phone
Matthew Coloma actually same haha
“rent, a beautiful story that touches on several important topics, okay next up we have cats! we love seeing those kitties run across the stage!! uwu”
Hamilton & Cats should switch places & then the list would be perfect.
I think this just proves that ms mojo should stop doing broadway videos 😂
Promise. They seriously need to get off of Hairspray's nuts. It's a fine show, but it's not remotely close to a top 10 show. They completely neglected 80% of the 20th century. Fiddler, Carousel, any of the shows Sondheim did between 1970 and 1985, The Sound of Music, and at least 10 others that aren't coming to mind right now.
Love your profile picture!
@@mjhalloran3083 that's true, but 10 is a really small number, and if they did lots of Sondheim shows, it wouldn't really make room for the other ones. That's why they made a separate video for Sondheim
why?
@@mjhalloran3083 I agree I hate hair spray but I really agree with number 1
I was going to say, if Les Mis didn't make this list I would have been so depressed! I saw it 5 times, and always get goosebumps at the final note of One Day More! Even when I was just watching it through the screen!!
Falsettos has been robbed again
georgia williams Y E S
georgia williams YES.
Yeah but what's new the best things are underrated
Kagamine Auror FALSETTOS DESERVES MORE LOVE UGHH
georgia williams PREACH IT HON
After seeing Les Mis live earlier this year...I'm satisfied. Absolutely earth-shattering and timeless musical.
They ranked Cats over Hamilton, Lion King, West Side Story, Chicago, and RENT!
How tf is that possible?
Hamilton is pretty bad, Lion King is literally just the movie. People always overlook Cats. Although I do agree West Side Story, Chicago and Rent should be above itz
Thanks fo warning me this list wasn’t worth it, I just came from a Hamilton binge
It’s all about how the play is put out. And the choreography and songs.
The Lion King should be #1. It's literally the most successful musical of all time, not only on Broadway but worldwide.
It’s Top 10 favorite musicals of ALL TIME, so as a Musical you have to be groundbreaking and be around for a longtime even to have had a Revival, so I understand why “ Hamilton” received the #10 position. However, Evita and Fiddler on the Roof , Sweeney Todd, MissSaigon, The King & I, Dream girls, Hello Dolly, La Cage aux Folles should also be honorable mentions
1) Les Miserables (winner Best Musical, 2 revivals and internationally renowned )
2) The Phantom of the Opera (winner Best Musical, longest running broadway show ever)l
3) Wicked (lost Best Musical to “Avenue D”, but still running strong)
4) Chicago (lost Best Musical, winner Best Revival, longest running Revival )
5) Cats (winner Best Musical, groundbreaking, 1 Revival)
6) Rent (winner Best Musical, groundbreaking, 2 revivals)
7) West Side Story (lost Best Musical, lost 2 Best Revivals / 10 Oscar winning musical)
8) Hairspray (winner Best Musical)
8) The Lion King (winner Best Musical, groundbreaking puppet moving for animals/2nd longest running showing Broadway)
10) Hamilton (winner Best Musical, groundbreaking, sensation, but too soon to see legacy)
R Rodriguez what's avenue D? You mean Q?
Thank you!
Wicked is amazing! So is Phantom!
JAYLA ROSE YEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSS
I saw wicked at Broadway!
So overrated
JAYLA ROSE truth!! The first time I saw Wicked was on Broadway, and I nearly cried when Elphaba died!!! And this year, my school's theater club did Phantom, but the people who did the sound were bombarded with negative reception from the audience (because the school's cheap-ass microphones went on and off at random times)
I haven't seen Wicked on Broadway (yet) that's on my list! I did however see it twice on tour and it was fantastic!
I definitely think that Fiddler on the Roof should be at LEAST an honorable mention.
I went to the lion king on Broadway in new York when I was 8. IT WAS AWESOME!!
Everyone is moaning and groaning about Hamilton not being #1, I’m here shouting with happiness that Les Mis beat both Phantom and Cats on a Ms. Mojo video!!!
Robin Bellmore Sorry but Phantom is just a touch above Les Mis if you ask me.
Cats shouldn't even be here, like WHERE IS EVITA
Blah personally I think Les Mis is just a bit better than Phantom purely because of how moving it is (and I'm biased since it's the first show I ever saw live) and how brilliantly the ensemble songs are put together. I adore Phantom just as much as I adore Les Mis so it's a hard decision for me
Robin Bellmore ME TOO! FINALLY SOME ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER FANS ARPUND HERE!
Cats sucks... Les Mis would always beat it, but how did Cats even get on this list? Much less beat RENT!
Have you guys even heard of Gypsy or Into the Woods?
SarahTennyo GYPSY IS LIFEEEE 💘
Into The Woods is traaaash
Thank you. Thank you for fighting the good fight.
Into the woods. You are joking right?
They probably did hear of into the woods because it's soo over played and hyped and done and it's 4 hours long and trash
Hairspray was a pick I was not expecting but, A Chorus Line deserves more than an Honorable Mention. It takes the nameless, faceless members of the chorus in a Broadway production and brings them to light. All the confusion, the heartbreak and fear is shown wonderfully in the show. You don't have to be extraordinary, you are you and that's the best you'll ever be. A Chorus Line was also one of the first Broadway musicals to include gay characters that weren't jokes.
Evidently, Mojo's definition of "all-time" isn't the same as mine.
Omg I just saw Phantom on Broadway and I cried, it was an absolute dream come true to be there
Phantom has that effect on people. :)
They should include:
The Sound of Music
Mary Poppins
Into the Woods
Jesus Christ Superstar
Shrek (musical)
Beauty and the Beast
Raf Sen and frozen is absolutely fabulous
And heathers
Carrie, Heathers....
Lily Kennedy Heathers wasn't on broadway. It's an off-broadway musical.
@@lilykennedy3777 Heathers was actually not on Broadway
My list
Hamilton
Heathers
BeetleGeuse (Yes, that's a musical)
And Avenue Q
Not to be that guy, but the show is Beetlejuice and his name is Betelgeuse. Good pics, though
BJ IS AN AMAZING MUSICAL!!!!
Beetlejuice is soooooo amazing
My personal favorites (just gonna do top 5)
1 NEWSIES: this musical is my biggest inspiration, and has quite literally saved my life in my darkest times. I just love this show with an extreme passion. The dancing is incredible, the story is inspirational, and the music is the catchiest and bounciest thing ever and I love it.
2. Legally Blonde: ITS BEAUTIFUL ELLE IS MY DREAM ROLE I LOVE HER
3 Waitress: Do I need to explain this... no. I SOBBED at this show. I COULDNT STOP AT THE END I WAS LAUGHING AND SOBBING AT THE SAME TIME AND THERE WAS NO STOP I LOOKED AND FELT LIKE AN EMOTIONAL MESS
4 Something Rotten: I got to see it on Broadway, and I fell in love with it
5. Falsettos: This musical was a big punch to my heart
(My favorite genre is dark comedy, so thats why I'm not as into the classics. I still love them though, just these ones affect me a lot)
I feel like no matter how you do this list, it will piss people off.
Also The Lion King needs to be higher its Magnificent, also where is The Rocky Horror Picture Show
The Mad Hatteress I didn’t think it was a broadway musical
Rocky Horror is not a Broadway show
The Rocky Horror Show had it's Broadway version on the early 2000's, with Raúl Esparza as Riff-Raff, but, tbh, it wasn't really good (or, at least, the official album wasn't)
Actually, Rocky Horror had two Broadway productions. The show premiered in Los Angeles in 1974, and enjoyed a successful run, but a Boradway transfer in the spring of 1975, was not well-received and closed in about a month. The cast included Tim Curry, Meat Loaf (playing both Eddie and Dr. Scott), and Richard O'Brien (under the name Ritz O'Brien.
In an interview, Meat Loaf said that they began rehearsals in Los Angeles without Tim Curry, as he was playing Frank in Britain. Because of this, none of the cast (except for Richard O'Brien, of course) knew quite what the show was, as they had only rehearsed their own material. On the day that Tim joined them, Meat Loaf was sitting in the house, and they started playing the opening of "Sweet Transvestite". All of a sudden the back door of the theatre flew open, and Tim came down the aisle performing the song. Meat Loaf was so shocked, he jumped up and ran out of the theatre. He wanted to quit right then, but eventually was convinced to remain with the show.
The second Broadway production was more successful, running for 14 months.
The Mad Hatteress exactly
My dad’s friend plays scar in the lion king musical and we went to see the show last year it was incredible
book of Mormon deserved to be way higher, it's an amazing show. also what about sweeny todd
I feel like these are the most popular not the best
Giraffe you are so right
*YES*
*THANK YOU*
Very happy that Les Miserables is number one, I’ve seen it at the west end and it was truly incredible.
I watched this in my theatre class with my theatre friends. And let's just say we all had a riot because of this video
9:00 GATENS SO CUTEE
but on another note dissapointed on the
absence of newsies and the low ranking of west side story
Phantom should be 1, Les Miserables 2, Chicago 3, Cats 4 and Miss Saigon and Hello, Dolly! should definitely be on this list!
thank you for having good taste in musicals
Ryan Rafuse YEEEEESSS! I COMPLETELY AGREE
What about Wicked?
Ryan Rafuse I completely agree! Also, a chorus line should have gotten a spot. As well as Seussical and ragtime
ℓιттℓємιѕтукαт Definitely A Chorus Line! But I haven’t seen Seussical or Ragtime yet (I have heard about Ragtime so much and I really want to see it!)
what about newsies
Mary Leslie Bessenger jack Kelly is awwwwwwwweeeeessssooommmmee
Mary Leslie Bessenger Dancing was energetic and music is perhaps the most epic collection of songs Alan Menken has ever written
I love Newsies! One of my most favorite songs is in this musical! ❤️
I love Hairspray but Newsies should've been in its place!
Mary Leslie Bessenger SAMEEEEEEEEE SANTA FAAAAAAAAA
"Showboat" "South Pacific" You notice that all are within 20 years. Maybe 10 years.
Obviously, this list was comprised by people under 30
Phantom of the Opera should be the number 1 play on Broadway l'm a New Yorker l seen every single play
Phantom of the Opera is everything
It's just my personal opinion
I hear people rave about that show and I just don’t get it. Maybe it’s a love it or hate it thing but I hated every minute of that show. The story was creepy and the music was just terrible to my ears. I’m obviously in the minority, I don’t think I’ve ever been so clueless about something that people love.
I just saw Miss Saigon and I think it should be up here! The choregraphy was amazing in it and so was the heart touching story.
There's a distint lack of Sondheim in this list. Sure, he wrote the lyrics for WSS, but certainly Sweeney Todd or one of his other shows should be here. Other than that I can understand most of the choices here (with the exception of Cats) but would have ranked them differently: Les Mis, Sweeney, Hamilton, Lion King, Rent, WSS, Phantom, Chicago, Wicked, Hairspray...
My top three
1. Hamilton
2. Phantom of the Opera
3. Les Mis
Miss Saigon. Very ground-breaking not just in technical splendor, but in casting and opening ticket sales as well.
The Music Man?!?! I MEAN....COME ON....YOU NEED TO HAVE IT AS AT LEAST AN HONORABLE MENTION!!
Right!
YAS I did music man last year for a theatre production
Meg Ham
The Music Man sucks.
OKAY THEN you started a riot at my theatre company!!!!
BOI WTH the music man is a classic A CLASSIC SO YOU WALK IN HERE WITH YOUR PRISSY COMMENT BUTTYTY NNNNNNOOOOO MUSIC MAN IS A TREASURE ITS AMAZING I AM HERE TO PROTECT AMD DEFEND
I want Newsies to be on this list, wtf
I just saw the Lion King musical and it was FANTASTIC! Definitely a MUST watch!
I question your choices how can you not mention a Musical composed by Sondheim or Rogers and Hammerstein
Isn't Ŵest Side Story Sondheim
@@angelusthornful WEST SIDE STORY IS BERNSTEIN YOU IDIOT!!!

The Phantom of the Opera ❤️❤️
I agree with the list for the most part but a Chorus line should be on the top 10 it changed they way people look at musical theatre and its just a great musical
It reminded me of Family Guy's intro lol
What about Spring Awakening!? I worship this Musical! The songs are just spectacular and it's a wonderous tale of love and loss that holds a mirror up to modern society by touching on the issues of adolescence with Moritz Suicide and Wendla getting pregnant at 14. And don't get me started on the amazing Rock-Folk score with beautiful tunes such as "My Junk" and "The Song of Purple Summer" And it's not even an honorable mention😔
"But Broadway is where you see the best."
Broadway:
Heathers ❌
Shrek ✔️
Did these people never hear of Rodgers and Hammerstein, Kern, and the other pre-1960 authors and composers who built Broadway in the first place?
Or Rogers and Hart.
Nope. Their idea of an old musical is The Lion King.
LOVE HAIRSPRAY 🖤
So is the lion king it’s so incredible when I saw it in 2011
JAYLA ROSE saaameee
JAYLA ROSE The NBC version last year was Best Hairspray ever
Hairspray is one of those shows where I sometimes forget just how much I freaking adore it, and then I listen to the soundtrack (because I do love the movie soundtrack most), and I'm just like * *smiles and sings and dances along like crazy* * every single time :D :D IT IS SO INFECTIOUS AND I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!
JAYLA ROSE OMFG me too omfg
Perhaps this should be the 10 best modern Broadway shows.
No Rodgers and Hammerstein...pure bs
Amazing! I would have liked newsies on it and fiddler on the roof! I am in Les Miserables rn as Eponine!😊💕
My dream role is Cosette from Les Mis!!! I'm doing Newsies at my school
So glad Wicked is high on this list. I saw it in New York two years ago and still can’t get over how well they did it!!
No Rodgers and Hammerstein? Really?
Aida? Once on this island? Dreamgirls? Sweeny todd?
I👏AM👏SO👏HAPPY👏CATS👏IS👏ON👏HERE people think I’m so weird because I love it so much. I had a VHS of the “film” of it and I watched it all the time as a small child and still do to this day!
Same
*Phantom is the most popular* show on Broadway, and it is the longest running musical in the history on broadway! So technically its the Number 1.
False.
Actually, when you think about it, les miserables is basically the French Hamilton.
Jackie Dorn more like the American Les Mis ;')))
Jackie Dorn i never thought of it that way but that’s pretty true
yeah no it's not
No. It's not. You know what Les Mis is? A REAL MUSICAL.
E. Chadwick they are both "REAL" musicals??
What a wonderful tribute to the entertainers who have given us something Brilliant to think and feel about in these crazy times. The show must go on.
I remember when I went to see Les Mis for the first time in theatres, it's a masterpiece
I hope that in a decade the revival of The Great Comet will be high up in this list
w The Great Comet was amazing! I'm sad I wasn't able to make it out to see it performed.
Wicked will always have such a large place in my heart, and I feel like as I get older my love for it grows and evolves in so many ways. I can accept Phantom and Les Mis being over it, being the veterans that they are, but Wicked will forever, and always be, #1 to me.
*waits for Spongebob The Musical, Wicked, Mary Poppins, Hamilton, Heathers, and much more*
Spongebob the Musical is actually kind of great.
I watched the lion king two years ago and bruuuhhh I cried at the first note they sung😍😭 an out of body experience really
Showboat? We wouldn't have the musical form as it currently exists. Oklahoma? The first to really integrate dance into a show is important. Of Thee I Sing? It was the first to win a Pulitzer. Chorus Line should have been on the list, too, for its new take on what a musical could be.
Wait, so the Producers, the musical with the most Tony awards, is only an honorable mention?
Yediney Roo Actually Hamilton is now the show with most tonys and Billy Elliott won the same amount as the Producers
The Producers won 12, Hamilton won 11, Billy Elliot won ten
Sorry my mistake, I was thinking of nominations, although I do think Billy Elliott deserves more recognition
No problem! And I agree, it definitely deserves more recognition, especially within the casual theatre-going community.
I was shocked that it didn't make the actual list.
Les Misérables being #1 brought me more joy than I could ever imagine
People who say that Cats is weird need to know that it won 10 Olivier Awards, ran on Broadway for more than 15 years, had over 7,000 performances, and got a movie adaptation.
Where is Newsies?????
