There is absolutely only 1 thing hammer can't do, and that's cut off tails. But for everything else it's the best
If you can't let go off the blunt, Hunting Horn I think has one single move that can cut tails, in case you REALLY need that lash

If you use hammers charge attack midair you can change directions immediately. Hammer is a very good mounting weapon. You can also do a radical beyblade attack by attacking while sliding.
