Remember last year when Apple said they redesigned the Neural Engine on the A17 Pro, yet nothing seemingly changed? Remember that…… I saw this coming. Probably they made the A17 Pro’s NE match the design of the M1’s.
A17 NPU is as strong as the basic M3 chip (it has the same amount of cores and manufactured with the same 3nm technology), the difference there is only the way how they measured, like the M3 18 TOPS is measured in FP16, but the A17 35 TOPS is measured with INT8. Apple changed it after X Elite started to claim that they have better AI capacity, so now they are also displaying the bigger number, so the INT not the FP numbers, but still Apple use the INT8 (64bit), meanwhile Snapdragon use the INT4 (32bit) measuring. So the 18 TOPS (FP16) is about the same performance like the 35 TOPS (INT8) and 55 TOPS (INT4, this INT4 is where Snapdragon X Elite have 45 TOPS..), and this is the M3 and A17 performance, just not in the same metrics (like 100mph is about 160km/h, the same speed, but measured with different metric, so the numbers are not directly compareable)
I'm not ambitious, so a Calculator app for iPad is just what I wanted. Looking forward to that and Sequoia for my M1 Mac Mini. I don't use Siri at all, but making it an AI app sounds good for people who are into that.
You can see that ChatGPT was only mentioned towards the end of the Apple Intelligence presentation along with mentioning of other LLMs as a potential add-on feature. Which makes me think that Apple Intelligence alone has nothing to do with OpenAI, and that it's Apple's own Model which specifically is good at doing the things shown in the presentation with context awareness. And LLM like ChatGPT just have a bigger knowledge base in comparison, that's why they showed that when you want to generate something like a menu recipe, Siri will then relay the question to ChatGPT for this kind of info based questions. You can see that every time that happens, Siri will ask for you permission to relay to ChatGPT. The ChatGPT apps we currently have on the iPhones most likely takes no computational power at all as they simply send the requests to the OpenAI server and just display the response, where Apple Intelligence is running on device, completely different in resource requirements.

Actually, most AI features don’t really have anything to do with ChatGPT directly. For example, the images that they showed in things like iMessage and the image playground are created on device by on device diffusion models, and Siri’s better contextual understanding is due to on device AI and Apple’s owned server models. GPT-4O will only be used in very specific cases, when you want a more in-depth explanation for example, and you will know when that is because Siri will ask for permission to send your query to chatGPT.
Would like a deeper dive into all the iOS 18 features, as much as you can find out and more about Apple intelligence and what exactly it does and how it will help in day to day 👍🏼
I also don’t understand what apple is gonna do to the OG HomePod, the newer HomePod and the HomePod mini. Guess those are sticking with “OG” Siri?! That seems odd to me that they’re fragmenting Siri.
Andrew Tsai figured it out. Apple got AVX2 working on the Mac as part of Game Toolkit 2.0. That's the remainder of the Windows-only game catalog. Game developers are working late tonight.
I’m running the beta on my m1 iPad Pro, m1 iMac, iPhone 15 pro max, Apple Watch series 9, and Apple TV. Almost every feature announced is unavailable right now, and what’s here is graphically a mess, they’ve got a long way to go to get everything to run as smooth as iOS 17. I find it strange Apple Intelligence will launch as a beta in the fall, but new iPhones come out in the fall as well, will the new hardware even ship with any of the new stuff? Since nothing cool or groundbreaking is available right now to test, it’s a super basic boring update.
I will be honest, Apple Intelligence not coming to the iPhone 15 and earlier and iPhone 14 Pro and earlier is not surprising. Even though those phones could run this features, it is likely that the lack of RAM is the culprit.
I’m surprised personally. Many Apple intelligence features are incredibly basic and simple. Like removing people from the background of photos. This isn’t intensive work yet they claim an iPhone 15 can’t handle it
@TailosiveTech In terms of cloud based AI, any phone can handle it as long as they have a good internet connection. However, on device AI is a different story. Even though the iPhone 15 and earlier can easily handle on device AI, you need at least 8 GB of RAM since it's RAM intensive. This can also apply to Android devices. For example, the Galaxy S22 and S23 series are able to do on device AI because these phones have 8 to 12 GB of RAM. I blame Apple for cheaping out on the RAM on their previous iPhones.
It’s crazy to have been told software support for a 13 pro max would get at 6 years of support will not get many of the new features. I will not upgrade do to the physical SIM card being eliminated. Currently trying to get with android and get more familiar. I like making videos for ministry and iOS is perfect. However im looking for android work around. Great video
“AI” will likely launch standard on the iPhone 16. As is tradition with passing down pro features for one year being the standard phone for the following year. It’s likely a combination of NPU and RAM the same way Windows required 16GB of ram and 45 TOPS for all the new copilot features.
The reason Apple Intelligence is limited to 15 Pro is because it's powered by Apple's in house AI model NOT ChatGPT and almost all the processing happens on device which only the latest A17 Pro can handle. If you request something it can't perform it will ask for your permission to send that request to ChatGPT.
Despiste Apple AI not making it on the 14 pro, I downloaded the iOS 18 beta. Use to have 16.6 jailbroken but had to update because of my usb-c AirPods Pro to 17.4. Despite the customization being not as good as jailbreaking it, it’s really close. We’ll see how battery performs since with 84% health it gets 5 hours
People are forgetting that apple’s AI will be free to use forever as long as your device is supported unlike Samsung’s. Galaxy AI works on more devices but you guys forget that you only get a 1 or 2 year subscription to be able to use the Galaxy AI features
How dare you compare this abomination with Monet theming? Monet theming is much more graceful in 90% cases, Monet theming not only themes the icons, but the entire system somehow looks totally different.
I get why the 2017 iPad Pro didn’t get iPadOS 18 but am also annoyed by it. I’m watching this on my 10.5” iPad Pro and still works amazing (besides battery life). I know it does but have the neural cores but it’s so overpowered and still plenty fast for most people. I’m a little surprised that the new Apple intelligence Siri isn’t coming to Apple Watch. I have a hunch that it’s only gonna be available on the new Apple Watch. If it is, I actually will buy an Apple Watch and have a use for it.
I have an Iphone 14 pro and its disappointing that they're gatekeeping their new A.I. features only to the 15 pro models. They should've at least had it for the 14 pro and regular 15. I was really looking forward to a smarter Siri with this years IOS update.

One of my personal favorites from the event was that on an iMac you can FINALLY snap up to four windows into each corner of the screen as you’ve been able to do on PC’s for years 😂 Apples split screen was so poorly executed that I had to purchase an entirely separate app just to make it function like my old surface pro.
Here’s an interesting thing: iPad 7th gen runs an A10 processor, yet the iPad pros from 2017 also run an A10X processor. I don’t quite follow why one gets the updates and the others don’t.
I need iPhone mirroring on the iPad
Just get a Mac.
@@edd9581 I have a Windows PC and a Mac; I’m trying to stop using the Mac completely as the PC fulfills my needs in that regard (was forced to switch sides as I’m studying game development)
I’m probably not the only one that doesn’t care about Apple Intelligence.
One small note iPhone mirroring has there in Android since 5 years microsoft got this and later most android oem offers this and recently in 2023 motorollr also supports this now
Actually, most AI features don’t really have anything to do with ChatGPT directly.
Would like a deeper dive into all the iOS 18 features, as much as you can find out and more about Apple intelligence and what exactly it does and how it will help in day to day 👍🏼
"A is for Apple" is wild 😂
I also don’t understand what apple is gonna do to the OG HomePod, the newer HomePod and the HomePod mini. Guess those are sticking with “OG” Siri?! That seems odd to me that they’re fragmenting Siri.
Sad they didn’t elaborate on the hiking mode for maps. Should be cool for backpackers.
Andrew Tsai figured it out. Apple got AVX2 working on the Mac as part of Game Toolkit 2.0. That's the remainder of the Windows-only game catalog. Game developers are working late tonight.
I was hoping that I could be able to use it on my iPhone 14 Pro but I guess my soon to be 4 year old Mac will do I guess.
3:12 that wasn’t part of the AI talk, right? The schedule a text?
Also that feature exists under shortcuts..
I hate that they aren’t bringing so much to the base 15 but it definitely is smart. Gonna make me want the 16 I’m sure
GOOD MORNING-NINE!!! 🤣
You should make a video on 3rd party apps/devices iOS 18 just killed
The reason Apple Intelligence is limited to 15 Pro is because it's powered by Apple's in house AI model NOT ChatGPT and almost all the processing happens on device which only the latest A17 Pro can handle. If you request something it can't perform it will ask for your permission to send that request to ChatGPT.
Wait, the 2017 iPad Pro, the first iPad without the home button???
No, I believe that was the last one WITH a home button
First iPad without home button was from 2018
@@hey_bucklebob ok good because i’d hate for my grandpa to have to buy a new ipad
@@TailosiveTech ok sigh of relief
Despiste Apple AI not making it on the 14 pro, I downloaded the iOS 18 beta. Use to have 16.6 jailbroken but had to update because of my usb-c AirPods Pro to 17.4.
Despite the customization being not as good as jailbreaking it, it’s really close. We’ll see how battery performs since with 84% health it gets 5 hours
Before the samsung fans come 😂
Samsung Knight through and through but I was pretty impressed😎
Any changes to the iOS keyboard? 👀
I was looking for that too. Like a numbers row option, for starters?
I’ve been waiting for your video 😂
People are forgetting that apple’s AI will be free to use forever as long as your device is supported unlike Samsung’s. Galaxy AI works on more devices but you guys forget that you only get a 1 or 2 year subscription to be able to use the Galaxy AI features
It seems Apple launched a new version of Android today. Complete with Google Pixel Material You theming.
How dare you compare this abomination with Monet theming?
Monet theming is much more graceful in 90% cases, Monet theming not only themes the icons, but the entire system somehow looks totally different.
iPhone mirroring is SOOOOO cool!
I’m just annoyed it won’t keep on getting software support since apps will slowly start getting worse on it.
Off topic but your voice is deeper????
10:37
Still... No micro-Sd Card Support...🤔🧐
I find the WWDC this year was good. I find it great with AI being iPhone 15 and newer. I still have my iPhone 11 Pro Max. I might even upgrade this year or next. Maybe i16 or i17.
I got engaged in Bora Bora this year 😅 but the Vision Pro is still not worth it in my opinion.
So the new intelligent siri is only available in 15 pros and m chips?
Yea
Apple single handedly killed their m4 iPad Pro sales today. I can’t think of any really compelling reasons to buy the m4 iPad Pro over older models. It’s wild to me that they didn’t really bring any os type upgrades to iPadOS. Not necessarily macOS but … hardly anything. They upgraded some features within apps like notes and all but cmon!
This is definitely just the iOS: About time release. Glad I have the 15 pro I’m excited to try the AI features
You don’t sound too enthused about any of this or is this just the way you communicate?
It wasn’t the most exciting keynote. Would you rather have people react the same way to every single news story?
I wonder if Apple went seven years of support because Android did it. RIP iPhone X you missed the cut off.
Ive been to Bora Bora. Its in Tahiti. So fucking dope
Why would you want the Home Screen looking messy with randomly placed apps? 🤷🏻♂️
Why would u want an app to be forced to the top left corner?
Freedom?
Exactly 😊. If I was a kid still I’d probably care about how well I can decorate my phone OS but I could care less at this point
In case you forgot, a couple of years ago I told you that A.I. will be the “next big thing” from Apple and you didn’t believe me 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
nice big changes
So stupid that Apple Apple intelligence doesn’t work on any iPhone really
