  • In this video I share our last excursion during our week in Tamarindo Costa Rica, the Pacific Coast. We drive 2.5 hrs north, to a place just south of border with Nicaragua, called Vandará, a resort like natural springs park nestled in rain forest.
We ride horseback up the mountain with local guides, then a series of switchback zip lines take us down, expertly and gently handled by our guides. I then opt for the water slide which is a cement half chute lined but still it’s recommended to wear a rubber diaper like item to protect your swimsuit and bottom which I was glad to have. Afterwards we enjoy a cultural experience where local expert Herson explains the history, culture and cultivating and processing of sugar cane and get to sample their products made from it. We are accompanied by Caramelo, a beautiful Ox who adopted the resort and is having the best life of nothing but food, love and leisure.
Finally we enjoy the various baths of different temperatures from natural hot springs and cover ourselves with hot volcanic mud which we leave on to dry for 15min and then bath in the outdoor baths that include a swim up bar able to provide whatever your heart desires with local fresh fruit. We soak, rest and drink in not only our fresh beverages but the gorgeous surroundings of various colourful butterflies and tropical flowers and the sounds of the waterfalls and birds, literally paradise. We finish with lunch and head back reluctantly leaving the oasis behind. Perhaps my favourite excursion during our trip to Costa Rica, pura vida! As they say.
