Nice. When you buy garden centre/ supermarket Chinese Elms the resemble a tree but 99% of branches are a tangled mess and in the wrong place. I’ve stripped mine back to almost nothing and I’m starting a rebuild. Luckily they are prolific growers so that should help speed up the process
So true David. You have to be very picky when choosing, make sure you start with a good base to work from. A healthy tree with strong character as we all know we're going to strip it back to the trunk. Thanks for watching my friend 😊
As the tree grows that gap under the base should disappear as long as you keep it pulled tight so it doesn’t lift away maybe rafia or a wire with a rubber sleeve to help prevent the wire bite
That's a good call. I'll see how it's looking come spring. Truth be told I'm not the biggest fan of root over rock. If it's not to my liking I'm going to air layer the tree as the tree is coming along nicely and would prefer that style.
I am really looking forward to seeing you expose more of that rock next year. Great stuff :)
Thanks Xavier. If this doesn't work I'm just going to air layer it as I really like this tree 😁
Very nice Chinese Elm great work :-)
Thanks man. It's coming alone nicely now. Hopefully I will be saying the same about the roots next year too. 😁
Second
