Not to take away from his heroism, valor, courage and honor shown on the battlefield of Afghanistan but many of you may not know this: SGT White only served for a mere 5 yrs, what happened to 20+ and 30+ yr careers?!
Wouldn’t say a mere 5 years. This is a different time in history where guys were getting extended to 15 months in country plus Nuristan was miserable I was there in 2009. Most guys I know got out due to deployments. I served 6.5 years and did 3 combat deployments: Ramadi, Iraq 04 - 05, Al Dora, Iraq 06-08 (15 months) & Kunar, Afghanistan 09 (injured 3rd month in country). I medically retired due to injuries on my 3rd deployment but would have gotten out after that deployment due to the deployment tempo. I was back for a year between deployments. That’s too long to be deployed especially for an infantryman especially getting extended to 15 months. Most the guys I know got out for this reason and these were not junior guys. We had e7s with 12 years getting out after my second deployment.
I've talked with Kyle White before on Instagram. He's an absolutely down to earth and humble guy. A true hero.
Why is he wearing boots?
