Visit our website: www.growcarnivo... No terrariums. No myths. No nonsense. Get the straight facts from guys who grow and propagate thousands of carnivorous plants every year, since 1995.
Good to see you back in the video, we missed you. Another wonderful instructional demo. Looking forward to starting one here. Thanks for taking the time doing the demo.
Thank you, Jacob. This is wonderful! I saw your video building your bathtub bog garden a couple of years ago. It inspired me to use an old wheelbarrow in the same way. It's beautiful, and all thanks to you. And now, I have the wheelbarrow and two 30 gallon tubs full of carnivores. I guess I need to put up some more and make rock gardens. So many wonderful ideas. Thanks to all of you at Sarracenia Northwest. Off to see the one talking about water now, though I'm generally fine with just rain water. Keep on growing!
Man I love that they added the bloopers at the end. I always wondered what the cuts looked like. I couldn't stop laughing at the first blooper xD Great channel and great videos!
Love this idea but you need to have the planted established rocks to begin with. I want to make one when we build our new deck. The only things I would change would be to paint the inside of the tub black and to build a wooden box and frame around it. Maybe an air stone and some goldfish.
SarraceniaNorthwest hey guys, ive recently in the last few month got into growing venuses indoors with a sunblaster grow light garden. I know you guys prefer cps grown outdoor but i cant in my area cause i live in an apartment without patio. Can you guy do a indoor care guide maybe show us some overwatered, underwatered, pest issues how they look and how to fix the issues? All videos on yt about indoor care are very limited and also many years old.
Thanks, Zeth, for your feedback. We won't be doing any videos of growing Venus flytraps indoors. We grow all of our flytraps strictly outdoors, and our experience with the growing of cold-hardy plants indoors is very limited. We only recommend methods that we practice at our nursery with successful results. However, we do recommend growing tropical carnivorous plants indoors. There are many Nepenthes and tropical sundews that will grow well in your setup without worrying about keeping them too warm in winter.
I love these rock gardens. I think I need to echo Zachary O, though. We're all really waiting for a tutorial on making these rock gardens. How do you drill into the rocks? How deep into the rocks do you drill relative to the water line? Is the peat moss in the hole partially soaked, or only getting water wicked through the rock? Pumice works, but what about scoria, rhyolites, andecites, dacites, etc?
How much of the rock should be in the water? It said 1/4-1/2 up a pot if in pots in the pond but I didn't hear anything regarding how much of the rock should be in the water
Hi, how to you control the algae growing? I don't have a big bathtub to use in my back yard, but I keep my CP that I purchased from your in a 26" diameter x 7" deep, 9-Gallon small plantainer/barrel liner, I am in zone 6a, and I can only keep them in water like that from April to early October, there are algae growing in the water. Is it safe to use Tetra Pond Algae Control in the water? Thanks!
Jacob. One problem I found with leaving plants in a watery pond like you have is that the water eventually goes stagnant/septic because of the decomposing peat mix. How do you change the water out when it goes bad?
As long as the plants aren’t sitting down in the water, it’s fine. They need to be above the water line with their roots down in the water or-in the case of the rock gardens-where water can be drawn up into their root zone from below.
SarraceniaNorthwest Thanks. I can’t wait. I built a mini rock garden and a mini bog garden after I watched all of your videos a couple of weeks ago. These videos are so educational. Most of my carnivorous plants are from SN. They are doing very well in my zone 9 outdoor. The other plants from a greenhouse nursery are not doing as well. My problem is the algae is also doing well too😅. I’m looking forward to watching each of your new video. Happy Halloween 🎃!
I'm so gentle with my plants watching you rub and tug all over them is freaking me out lol
6:50 my goodness, you even got some lychen on your rocks. these rocks rock, it all looks fantastic. pitty though it can't grow well at home
Good to see you back in the video, we missed you. Another wonderful instructional demo. Looking forward to starting one here. Thanks for taking the time doing the demo.
If you see only Jeff in the video, rest assured that it is me behind the camera! Stay tuned for Part 2!

A wheelbarrow? I love it! A transportable bog garden!

Great hobby..want to see more... Got myself an old Belfast sink...living in the SE of England.

Love it! Quick questions: what type of rocks do you use and how do you drill holes in them? Thanks!

Great video! Do you do anything for mosquito larvae control, or do you count on the plants to rid the adults?
I don't know about this garden, but I mosquito dunks in all of my trays and water barrels, which I pull water from for my plants.

I love it. How do you control the algae and mosquitoes in the pond?
In spring, I will post a video to address these issue. The remedy is very simple.

You can talk a little slower. Breathe while you talk because the loud inhale is kind of a cringe Cx.
