Lol that's the exact stall i used 3 years ago and met Robert Llewllyn too at the Novotel, however the Tesla at Bourg Achard is much nicer, there is a supermarket with a cafe and a McDonalds right off the motorway so no faffing driving through Rouen, maybe a consideration on your return
Yes, lovely food and dig friendly too. The problem I had was as soon as our good arrived on the table the phone pinged for me to move the car off the charger cos the charge was complete 🙄
I must say my Kia E Niro 4+ was used to drive through France and it was super easy with my car performing far better than I expected. Charging was easy as well. You should be able to have it showing miles/kWH as well. Safe travels.

15 grand for 3 years Ouch that's a lot of money to get to work and back Id rather have bought a 2 year old low milage EV for 15 and kept it 8 years at least
@@boyasaka I thought that too, and tried that route, but I needed an EV that could tow a caravan of 1400 kg, and got scared when the main entertainment unit started glitching in the Polestar 2. Couple that with the fact that EVs should hopefully be cheaper to buy in 3 years, especially Model Y ... and range is likely to improve a lot in that time which is key when towing. I agree that it is a lot but not so much in EV terms and I can invest the value of my sold Polestar 2 in the meantime and offset part of the remaining mortgage. Still much cheaper than buying a motorhome, and we prefer caravans. Also I'm banned from considering anything ICE ... but wouldn't anyway. I'm expecting EV capabilities to increase rapidly over the next few years so older EV values are likely to be depressed (I think) though Jonathan P should know much more. I had been waiting to buy a used Model Y for under 30k ... but I reckon that paying this over 3 years won't be much worse than having a used Model Y.
@ thanks for the reply Sorry to hear about your polestar My mate bought a 22 plate polestar 2 last year and he absolutely loves it I’m still sitting on the fence at the moment , my Honda civic I’ve had 8 years is still driving like a dream and with no finance on a car I’m enjoying being able to afford 4-5 holidays abroad a year , My other mate is a sparky and well unit his solar panels and battery banks and said he would love a EV but like you he’s a caravan man , so has just bought a bmw diesel Maybe he didn’t know about the teslas towing capacity I’ll ask him as he’s telling everyone else to buy a ev
@@boyasaka mine was a 70 reg dual motor with towbar which I bought privately then sold a few months later. I did love the acceleration. I came to it after having a used Model 3 SR+ and a used Model 3 Long Range AWD. I loved the latter but it would only tow 1000kg so I switched to the Polestar. I did like it a lot but there was not that much luggage space and while it towed up to 1500kg I became concerned about the glitches on the console and potential resale value and parts amid rumours of Polestar going bust. In the end I decided that I could easily lose 15k on the Polestar over 3 years with repairs (paid 21k) and thought that Tesla PCH would make sense until the market settles down a bit. I like the Android Auto integration and it works with most of the charging apps but you lose that when you get a Tesla. One feature I miss that works great on Android Auto is the speech command "Navigate to ......someone in your contacts" use this feature all the time on Android Auto but not on your Tesla but you do get other features like linking Google Calendar appointment's destinations to the navigation just get a Tesla you know you want one :)
If your going to be selling the Niro, I'd be interested, although I am 780 miles away. Enjoy your travels. I keep missing your actual live streams. Any idea how finicky Kia are with regards the timing of services and the warranty? Would it matter if the services are a bit over 1 year or the 10,000 miles?
Did you get a Crit Aire screen sticker to navigate the increasing number of towns where this is needed. Its only about 6€ and posted to you at home. Worth getting for your next trip in a model Y!
I started with an MG4 (thought it would be my last ever new car) and now have a Model Y as well, one issue with them is they are too big for UK parking spaces and poor turning cycle my other half won't drive it. Used ones always have kerbed wheels and scuffed front bumpers so they are OK if you never want to park in crowded underground car parks, you need to be prepared to climb in the boot when you are boxed in :(

You ought to have Winter tyres for the final slog into Spain. Legal requirement this year for a lot of France but you will only get your wrist slapped this year if stopped. Something to think about for your next trip. Tony
Mrs P has just looked this up on google , winter tyres are not mandatory in spain except on specific roads , which are signed , and we're sticking to motorways !
Enjoying your road trip videos. Winter tyres more of an issue in France. I drive via Rouen to the Med nr Montpellier. I can no longer get there legally in Winter without Winter or All Season tyres. Something to think about if you do another escape to the sun next Winter depending on route. There is a penalty in miles per kWh over energy efficient tyres.
@@JonathanPorterfield You should be fine for France, its only mountainous regions, and if the tyres have the 3 Peak Mountain Snow Flake you should be good anyway.
Definitely great chargers the Teslas. I plug in my niro and seem to get a faster charge. Definitely worth the monthly sub. Hyundai i 5 instead of a Tesla??
I can fully charge my mx5 in 2 minutes and get a true 400 mile range.Don't bother telling me its 0.0000001 pence a mile to charge your car.You can't do it on the M1.And don't tell me its nice to have a break at a service station for 3 hours whilst you have a piss and something to eat at exhorbiant prices.(me and the wife regularly have 4 hour picnics at EV charging places) can get 7000 miles range for the price of a home charger. My 2024 MX5 RF Homura was paid with cash out of my bank.Remind me of the adantages of owning an electric vehicle please.Dont mention money saving.I want to die skint not loaded.I look forward to everyones reply.
