- In this action-packed video, we put the new Fendt 1167 to the test as we race the weather to keep up with our drilling schedule! From missing wheel nuts to late-night fieldwork, there's never a dull moment on the farm.
The day starts off with a health and safety reminder for our building team thanks to your previous comments and shortly after we see Kieran’s not so graceful (and unplanned) dismount from his Fendt 942! We get into the nitty-gritty of seed depth and pre-emergent plans, while Graham sets up his drill completing the line up of our 4 drills.
Meanwhile, Cousin Michael checks in on all things agronomy, and the team battle a punctured tyre thanks to James forklift skills. The Fendt 1167, now fully set up, is ready to roll with Glynn behind the wheel. We also showcase the power of the Horsch Sprinter and Pronto 6M while handling some late night repairs on the Horsch Joker 12M.
Plus, the Mercedes Unimog is back in action and the hedge cutting is now complete.
As always James answers some of your questions at the end of the video! Join us for all the action, problem-solving, and behind-the-scenes of farm life.

Love everything about this channel. Banter, machinery, and explaining the choices you make. Cheers.
Completely agree with Michael, the narrower the drill row spacing the better to try and allow cereals to try and shade out and more competitive with blackgrass, etc. Same applies on the Cotswold brash where narrow row advantageous to allow more chance of an individual cereal seed to grow between the stones😮
Thanks for your detailed videos! Not self-evident to share such detailed informations and experiences of an business in your size and position.
Great video as always. I love watching you and Michael discussing black grass strategy that we all wrestle with. Cambridge Rollers were invented in Wiltshire believe it or not. William Cambridge from Market Lavington Nr Devizes.
I loved that comment form cus micheal, I like these drills, James- I don’t, micheal- well you don’t know what your talking about do you 😂😂 that was class. 😊
Great as always.Nice to see the new Monster at Work
Great video. The cultivations have gone well, and the start to drilling. We've had over 2 inches of rain here in Bedfordshire in the last 24 hours. That's gonna hold us a bit. I think the Vaderstad 800s drill is the best drill ever made👍looking out the window and it's still pouring down with rain! 😮🤦♂️
Cheers James for another cracking video 👍
Excellent content as always general Peck! I saw the forecast for the weekend and its great if you are a duck. Fortunately for us on Skye we are actually having a summer at the moment, its been 4 days without a cloud in the sky but it is very noticeably cooler in the mornings. Autumn is nearly here so I hope the weather gods smile on all our arable farmers.
Talking about emergence. I just looked at a field of wheat near my house and its 55-60mm tall already. I don't think I have ever seen it so advanced at this stage of September. The fact that its been warm and that it had some rain a week ago has made a big difference.
Excellent video thanks
Great videos as always would love to have a look round at your set up, especially workshops, credit to you and keep up the amazing work
As always superb video one of my highlights of the week, and the banter is great.. Don't envy you with the planning going forward, need to get a Mystic Megg, Hope all goes well for the coming week.
James when your with mike ,you could be the two Ronnie's ❤❤😂
fantastic video.
James look into wood biomass heating that could also use straw pellets, as your house is connected to the offices you should be able to get a grant plus some people use wood biomass for drying grain.
James is the CAT crawler going into the P.X museum? I no you have a soft spot for it! Thank you for these uploads much enjoyed😊 Regards 😊👍😊👍
Graham came out of his tractor forwards too😮!
Another cracking video, would you ever consider a 12 meter sprinter to get combination of a cultivation element and the narrow row spacing offered by a serto. That’s one of the main reasons we favor a vaderstad rapid on our farm due to its close row spacing and ability to smother out black grass. Keep the videos coming, really enjoyable and informative.
Great video James. Can you explain more about pre merge & what it chems it entails. Thanks 👍🇮🇪🇺🇸
Loving your videos and explanations could you show the two drills and explain the difference in 12.5 and 25cm spacing and sowing differences
The old saying James. Let a lazy man roll and a mad man Harrow
You drop, I click
Could Michael & James review row spacing of crops, particularly spring cereals? The Canadian prairies uses 10/12 inch (25/30cm) but there is a desire to go narrower for yield? What are your thoughts
The complexity of electronics on ALL new kit is terrifying to an old git like me.
What's with the giant rocketeer poster? That was the first film I watched at the cinema great film 👍
Yet another great video. Is all your kit stored in one location for the winter
Hi, I saw in your older videos that you grew potatoes and sugar beets. Seems like you stopped growing them? If so, could you explain why?
Great content, although worrying for my bet as now your talking about being commited to the diet sitch. Horsch need to have a few more events for you to attend so that my man can win.
Hi James, interested that you use 5grains under the hand as a bench make for combine losses, I was introduced to this back in the 90’s when the training group, the farm I worked on (“Mr Waffle” was very young then!!!!) had a course with a chap, I think called Tony Gardener and feel he originally came from your area, any connection here? Now at70years old, your videos are so memory stimulating, as I worked next to your Lincolnshire enterprise , please keep it up.
Have you had any rain we have had over 90 ml in the Midlands
Working hard to get the crops in watching the weather ☁️ ole you're better all right 👍 for baked beans 🫘 from wardies waffle looking like he harvested plenty going on best regards with drilling
Mention be ok
