  • Step motors have more than the two terminals that normal DC motors have. If you want to use a step motor and you don't know the part number, you need to ID the terminals. This tutorial shows you how to do that.

Excellent! You just did in 6 minutes what others were taking 30+ minutes to do. This method is way more efficient. Thank You!

Very useful . thank you. Can you please make a video on how we can run the six wire motor with a capacitor?

best use for these motors is generators. you will need a lot of diodes to make dc output tho

No one ever does a 5 wire / internally connected to both coils. How do u do that one?

if we have 8 wires, would the LED only light up for two wires with none repeating ? For example lets say we have wires A,B,C,D,E,F,G and H. When we are trying to find which are connected to each of the 4 coils, we can use the same method and find that for example A only glows with B, C only glows with D, E only glows with F, and G only glow with H. Or would it be similar to the 6 wire?

I have 6v motor 2 wires the timer(control Unit) has 2 wires but one says conect to positive the motor don't show + - the motor works either way (polarity) Is that ok ?

Nice video, what is the ideal way to wire up the unipolar to make a generator? How is the 'center tap' wire connected to a generator circuit?

+rickpercy87 There is no ideal way. You can connect the two internal coils in parallel for more current, or in series for more voltage, depending on your needs.

+Ludic Science thanks for the quick reply. I've spent about 3 hours watching your videos tonight. From your boost converters, Eulers disc and the universal joint. You explain the concepts very well. Thanks so much!

How can the led glow when u turn the motor either way? Wouldnt current change direction if motor change spin direction?

+Mr Ching “chicho” Chong Spinning a stepper motor will give you an alternating current. This is due to how the magnets on the rotor are positioned. Each step you turn it, the current reverses. So it doesn't matter which way you turn it.

Thanks for sharing! Your tutorial helped me when I was figuring out the logic for this discrete driver ruclips.net/video/FHCF-Ft41FA/видео.html I also have another step motor in my junk box, but I can only get it to go one direction with this driver. Any idea why?
