One of the most successful.actors to play the character was Orson Welles who would arrive at the studio and played the script as written. The character lasted for decades.

Today especially he's a bigger legend because the hated mafia has been driven underground, many store owners now the "no pizzo" sign, pizzo is the word used for the "protection racket'. Unfortunately you were wrong about the locations where he was murdered. Caltanissetta is too far from Palermo to matter. He was actually murdered at Marina plaza in Palermo
"bloodhounds may lick you to death" I love that. The same can be applied to Basset Hounds, which is why they're not the most amazing guard dogs..at least that's what my mom told me about her hounds. Completely irrelevant here, but a Bloodhound won best in show at last year's Westminster show.
