I stumbled across your channel this morning while searching for 1965 GTO restoration issues. I bought a 65 GTO hard top 2 years ago and many of the same issues you are dealing with I am facing myself. Your craftsmanship and clear methodical approach have gotten me so excited to begin the work on my project. I will definitely follow you all the way through. Thank you.
I'm an old mopar person, but will watch all the builds because I do love all the old cars from the 60's and early 70's. Need not worry about your followers, plus enjoy your metal work. 👍
Glad you're going to save the car and very true. That is why I have gotten most of mine, I do all the metal, body and paint work so I can start with cars most others wouldn't attempt.
Gotta say, she's rough, but still a beauty. Love all classic cars. Hoping one day I can salvage one of a few 60's chevy trucks I've seen parked in this one lot where I live. Eventhough I love the 57 below model more. I wouldn't mind a 60s one.
I owned one of these about 7 years ago little better cond thoe put about 15000 into it and painted midnight blue and a big block car auto that I put in it sold for for my Ford can’t wait to see what you do with yours
Just came across your channel and am now watching every episode to catch up!!! Love the channel and the challenges your facing with the builds!! Great content loving every minute of the episodes!! Love the fact your wife gets in with the work (lol) and your son will definitely follow in your footsteps!!! Keep up the awesome work!!
Another epic project to look forward to. Really excited to see the continuation of the Charger build with the 2 others. This is the first YT channel that I really look forward to getting a ‘fix’ through watching and agonising over how slow time passes between episodes! Engaging content, that I can fully take in and understand. Long may it stay that way!. Cheers.
Glad you're back and I'm totally jealous of your awesome garage! I'm looking forward to watching you rebuild the GTO and finishing the 68 Camaro... I have a 69. Great channel, great content!
Just came across your channel. I can't believe you are restoring a fontain blue 65 GTO at virtually the same time as I am. Started on mine in October of 2021 (appears to be in identical condition too). I've had my 65 since 1980 and finally getting to it. Mine is not going to be a number matching car either
Hi. New sub here. Just purchased a 1965 Lemans last fall. Really like the looks of this body style. Mine is a 2-door hardtop in Iris mist with a black vinyl top. Pretty rare car that has not been cloned. It will be interesting to see how these cars are put together. So good luck on this build and I will be watching.
Man - you're going crazy, in a positive way. So much going on in your life! I wish you and your family nothing but the best! Keep on rollin' - Greetings from Germany Marlon
If you are short on time, belden speed and engineering makes replacement front and rear window channels for 64-65 gto. I’ve not personally used them. They have a Facebook page and customers seem happy.
Im not wandering that . Iv seen what you can do. But iv been waiting to see the 68 charger . By the way glad to here and see all the good news. And of course congradulations there, with the new little one.
My father inlaw has a 65 GTO. Currently red ,455, 4- speed. When it was repainted there were no extra holes for the Tempest name so he believes it to be a factory GTO
My Bother...er...Brother had a '67 GTO he paid 1600.00 for (back in 1975) had the 389 Six Pack, but he ran it with an Edelbrock High-Rise with a Holley 850 (if memory serves), Hurst 4 Speed, 4:11 Rear End, guy he bought it from had it set up for racing...nice car it was, but that '65 you have by Northeast standards is in AWESOME shape...I'll be watching this one get done...
IS THAT A 389 OR 421 CAR THERE FELLER?, OK I WATCHED THE VIDEO..HEHE WOW 10.75 COMPRESSION RATIO? THAT MY FRIEND IS PURE MUSCLE! THE SOUND OF THOSPONTIACS IS AMAZING! THEY HAVE A REALLY DEEPRUMBLE TO THEM THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN A SHARP SHRIEK AS THE ENGINE WAKES UP TO HAUL ASS! i HAD A REAL SD-455 TRANSAM (1974) WHEN I WAS 22 YEARS OLD! I NEVER KNEW WHAT I HAD TILL I WRECKED THE CAR RACING A CADYY 500 POWERED CAMARO, THEN SOMEONE CAME TO THE LOT TO BUY THE CARCASS FOR $25,000! THATS BACK IN 1992!!!! SO I WAS SHOCKED AS I ONLY PAID $750 FOR IT WHEN I FIRST GOT IT!..IT WAS LUCERNE BLUE , WITH A BABY BLUE BIRD ON THE HOOD AND A BABY BLUE INTERIOR..I THINK ITS STILL ALIVE SOMEWHERE OUT THERE. LAYING RUBBER WITH ITS 4.11 SAF-T-TRACK REAR!
Are you thinking about building the drive train to the factory spec? And those 14" wheels with a high aspect ratio side walls( probably 70s or 78s from the factory); I could see you cheating a little with 16 or 17" rims. But keeping a goat close to factory spec would be nice...even though this isn't matching up the numbers. Anyway, looking forward to the sheet metal work! That's the best part of restos.
No, I have some pretty wild ideas for this one. If there was more originality there i would go back to factory specs. It will be Pontiac powered, but nowhere close to factory.
That would be cool. I’d love to slap some 71 fenders and a grille on something. Cudas are some of my all time favorite cars. Maybe after I finish these other builds that will be the direction I go.
LOve it.... do not go gasser... so tired of those builds... and the word "Patina" too truth be told but love this car. Maybe get a 455 Pontiac wide block bud! WOOT WOOT!! lol LOve it! Butler Performance for the Pontiac motor gear lol Trick Flow heads? Hmmmm lol Turbo and the holley sniper set up? Turbos ? Two of them? lmao he-he Ya but keep it classy and haul-ass-tastic!! PONTIAC!!! YES SIR!! Noice! PS: calling junk yards for tips on parts... talk same year Lemans... many interchangeable parts... virtually were GTO's but a little less so with the accessories and motor enhancements... Ya love these AND the 68 [a personal fave along with this era].
I was waiting to see all the additional parts and the replacement panels that came with the deal but when you only showed the header I questioned the value of doing the project. All the new panels will cost a lot then you will only have a finished shell with no parts to make a car. I would be looking for a cheap parts car for donor parts. I'm still watching the progress.
There is a 65 Pontiac Tempest up here where I live in a junkyard you could probably get the whole car for six or $700 let me know if you want me to go get pictures for you
Not to take anything from it's speciality but isn't GTO just Tempest with a big block? Correct me if I'm wrong but there aren't really many differences. Or are there?
I've had personal experience with 3 64/65 Pontiac a-bodies where it seems like factory filler was applied to right rear quarter in front of wheel well to door jam . Anybody else see that?
This is the kind of car that makes men out of boys. If a teenage boy spent all of his time and money on a car like this he wouldn’t have any energy or funds to spend on beer, drugs or girls. But when it’s finished he will have one Hell of a chick magnet.
1965-67 GTO is my favorite GTO Body style!!!!!
awesome car
I think so too!

Awesome GTO! Let the rebuild begin…well once you have your tools and you are unpacked! Looks amazing.

I have two 65 GTO project cars. However I'm 80 and in good health but still, LOL. Enjoy your resto's.

Absolutely!
My birth year and how I love Pontiacs!

@@rustbucketrestos6511 I am a Firebird guy first and foremost. But I love the dual stack headlights on the GTOs

Haha they are awful looking… can’t wait until they are off the car. Then again, I may keep them to melt the rubber off…
Wow , good luck, seems to me you got a lot going on now. Thanks for video.

Welcome back

Yep!
love it i have a 69 they are fun rides that GTO is screaming for a Butler 461 stroker
Sounds perfect!
This is going to be sweet with a newer gto ls and 6 speed boss. Watch how far you sway from one project to another, zero cars will get completed.
10k subs soon 👀

Phs-online.com
Where I Can Buy this raport?
Google Pontiac phs and fill out the form. $100 gets you next day turnaround. Pretty cool!
Resto or resto mod?
Resto mod all the way
That car may have been near the ocean based on the rust high in the car.
Just picked up a 65 GTO in way worse condition complete restoration bumper to bumper
Sounds like fun!
YOU WILL NEED A BUTLER BUILT ENGINE OR TIN INDIAN PERFORMANCE ENGINE TO RUN 10S WITH THAT..EHHE, NO 389 SORRY.NEED A STROKER!
462 stoker I’m thinking…
Yeah those wheels might look better on the Trans Am or a Firebird. Definitely not on a GTO. 😂
