  • Hello and welcome to my channel! I want to introduce my 1965 Pontiac GTO. I discovered this car in Salt Lake City where it was destined for the scrap heap. It will require extensive restoration work and I will do my best to document the process in what will be a long series of videos. My goal is to transform this car into a 10 second street car in the next 12 months!
In this episode I unbox a gigantic parts haul I picked up. I had someone reach out to me though RUclips and offer up a lifetime collection of 1965 GTO parts. I found a ton of hidden treasures in the pile of parts! We'll be cutting into the car and replacing floor pans in the next episode. Stay tuned!
Follow me on Instagram for more pictures of the build. @Rust_Bucket_Restos

The Vacuum gauge was an option, it mounts on top of the console under the dash, basically Pontiac wanted to let you know when you are in "Economy" mode with the RPMs, not really useful, but still cool!!

Exhaust manifolds are 69 RAIII repros, Vacuum gauges were a common dealer installed option on any Pontiac. Yours is missing the front bezel and glass. Keep an eye out for them. The radio was 65 Bonneville. It is different than GTO. I could see one set of clutch and brake pedals is 67. 64 and 65 is different. If you get rid of the inner fenders, make sure your replacements have the plastic inserts. They use a coarse threaded lag bolt to attach to the fender. Seems like this deal was tailor made for your car. The exact sheet metal you need, all the missing parts and sedan parts like vent windows and side trim are sedan only. Funny, I have a 70 Charger and a bunch of Pontiacs among other stuff. I've been doing Pontiacs and GTO parts since 1991. I know a little.

Nice score. My advice would be not to get rid of anything until you complete the car. You just never know what might come up during the build. This has happened to me on my second gen builds. Time to builds some shelves or get a outdoor building. Isn't it amazing at how much space a project car consumes in this stage? Having two second gen projects apart, I have parts in 3 different locations. Lol

Id like to talk to you about those tubular suspension arms, i have the same ones on my car and spent a lot of time with laser pointers and graph paper making sure the wheels pointed in the correct direction through the full range of travel. You need some more pieces to finish the job and then if you fit wide tyres there is some body contact that should be addressed before painting the car, and dont throw those old inner guards out yet as you may end up cutting up a set due to clearance issues there also.

Youre absolutely insane if youre going to pro Street this instead of restoration. You have almost everything you need dropped in your lap.

After making this video someone reached out and wanted me to build this car for them. They want it close to original. So I changed directions a bit on this one!
