    Is it still called a cadential diminished when it's the passing chord between a IV6 and I6? In whatever circles I've been in people seem to treat these like they're different but afaict the Idim7 is exactly the b5dim7 which is the only "difference" between something like C6 > Cdim7 > C6 and F6 > F#dim7 > C6

      You can treat them the same as everything in this video. B is quite a nice sub for F#o7. The same is true of biiio7. I think the ‘cadential’ in the name refers to the ii V before it, but these chords all fall into the category ‘common tone diminished.’
