    Strong lesson thanks. We have talked about rhythm and bebop before here. Your description of these devices makes clear that devices like enclosures depend for much of their effect on rhythm. They tend to be spoken of and taught as hunks of harmony. I found your approach very helpful - especially given that the feel of that ever elusive term "language" (sounds great to academics but what does it actually mean - without sound, not necessarily a lot) is hard to capture. Your approach is a valuable "in" and very easy to tell if you've "got it".

      Thanks, yes I think that’s one of the big things I got from Barry Harris… the harmony is often very simple in fact.

    it's cool how you can resolve to the major seventh, with chromatic neighbours and stuff, even though it's kind of a tense note to begin with...JAZZ!!!
