Steve Purcell is the creator of the original comic from the 80's has the rights to the characters. So no TellTale needed to make more games.

I know its still early in development but I hope they are working on rendering it more. It defo could use lighting like in Devils Playhouse
...as well as some aspects of sam’s voice, he sounds a bit like a robot.
The pistols could use some work to, kinda look like pre made setholders
Me personally. I think they need to work on the facial animations, because while sam talks in a deadpan way, he usually has a slight bit of emotion on his face, and here max just lacks all emotion, in both his ears and face movements.

THIS WAS MY CHILDHOOD!! I don't have a VR headset but it's sooo great to see Sam and Max finally make a comeback
Not to mention the writing and humor in just this preview is much more in line with Hit the Road than the Tale Tell games :D

lampen på gulvet I really liked the Tell Tale games two. Especially Season 2 and 3. But I love the old Lucas Arts game and to me personally, the Tale Tell games never reached the peak of Adventure game puzzles and laugh out loud humor that Sam and Max Hit the Road did. I will never forget “Edutainment!”, or broken golf ball retriever in the World’s Largest ball of twine, or any time you got to use Max as an inventory item, or letting Max loose on people! Also the Star Wars crossover comics of that time were great!

So very happy to see this continue. Was worried after Telltale shutdown that Sam & Max would fizzle out. One series I was sad I never got to work on. Really happy to play this when it releases!

It’s a franchise from 1987 with comics shows and games from different companies. Trust me it’s not over yet.

@@GamingExpert9990 Yeah, The voice act for Sam is probably my favorite iteration out of the three. But I'm really curious to see if any other telltale characters like Sybil or Paperwaite will return along with the voice actors.

The only thing that was missing from this was the use of Harvey Atkin. he was the original voice of Sam during the short-lived cartoon series. Unfortunately he passed away back in 2017.

usually that's the sort of riveting gameplay I expect from CallMeKevin, not a the video game trailer.

I’m no lawyer, but I doubt we’ll see them, or any other Telltale-made characters. Telltale wasn’t allowed to use any elements from Hit the Road because, while Sam and Max are owned by Steve Purcell, Hit the Road (and everything that originated from it) was a separate license owned by LucasArts. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Telltale games are now tied up in a similar licensing nightmare.
I’d love to be wrong, though.

I just started watching longplays of the telltale games a month or two ago and fell in love immediately - the fact that Sam and Max are being revived in any way so soon feels like a divine gift. My only question is, which Max is this? Oh, and also, will Bosco be back?
Sam and Max have a long history of not sticking to any one continuity for very long, from the TV Show, to the Comics, to the games. We can hope for some Telltale characters, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's an all new cast besides Sam, Max and (presumably) Jimmy.

It’s not based on Telltale series, it’s more comics-like and Hit the Road. Their office straight out of comics and Hit the Road (also TV series) is a proof to that

Going to miss the point and click style, but a case with these guys in VR sounds fun. Hope they release a regular version as well since I don't have a headset.

Well, that was a pleasantly understated teaser trailer sequence.
My mind is a swirling miasma of scintillating thoughts and turgid ideas.
I first learned of Sam & Max when I read about their first game Sam & Max Hit the Road through those PC Gaming Monthly magazines we used to get (as well as PC Gamer). However, Sam & Max didn't officially enter my life until that cartoon of theirs which aired on Fox Kids from 1997-1998 came on when I was 12 years old and in the 7th grade. They were a great way to help me get through the struggles of the most frustrating school year of my life.

Man (sighs to self while moping music plays) I sure do wish I was a part of a currently going fandom. But I love these point and click adventure games! I can't just let go of the likenesses from games such as grim fandango and Monkey island, or dare I say that cartoon dog and rabbity thingy. But it seems that the world has forgotten their greatness. (slowly looks to computer screen) will somebody ever remember besides me... wait (see new Sam and Max Game announcement)

Sam and max are a unique set of duo characters. I haven't seen anything like them(at least not yet).
You think they wouldn't be interesting because they always agree with each other and hardly get into fights (except in the series).
However, they have traits that makes them stand out from each other even if its a little bit.
The possibility of what life will be like if this game becomes popular.
Maybe a new game or a series. But thats if this game becomes a success; which I think it will.
Anyway, I can't wait for this game and to see what friendly giants have in stores for us

Sam & Max Hit The Road is a classic, but Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse is even better, thankfully they are going to be faithful to that version.
They need to bring back content from all previous versions, the comics, the LucasArts game, the Telltale games, and the animated series.

This is gonna be awesome when it drops, but the graphics need some attention BAD imo. Max looked more wonky than usual, Sam looked kinda disfigured, and the Desoto looks like it was modeled on the same platform as the cars in Call of Duty. It has potential, but it needs a lot of loose ends tied up for my taste
