Interesting! I was sitting here eating Sesame covered honey cashews and realized I never knew how sesame was grown or harvested! This vid was just what I needed
Thank you for this very well done informative video. My wife asked, "Where do sesame seeds come from?" Very appreciative for the farmers and for the work producing this video. Thank you!
You know cross breeding is in the family of GMO. It doesn't mean chemicals are added it means it's been bread & or cross pollinated until they get the desired result. Once you get that you use that seed to make the rest. Be glad this has happened wild bananas & melons are nothing like the trees & vines you eat them from now. Most fruit & vegetables wild natural form are just to make seeds & have far less edible flesh. It's just a trigger or hot button term now. Most things you eat, even fresh off the farm, were modified at some point to get to the edible versions/seeds we have today. Not all, but far more than u would think
@@reemj3675 yup, they breed for durability in shipping, cylindrical forms for processing efficiency, uniformity, sweetness, lack of seeds, it is all "genetically modified". Heirloom varieties (which are not hybrids) are back in fashion, but not for commercial operations.
We in Sudan are in dire need of that non shuttering sesame. We plant up to 4 millions feddans of sesame hoping to reach 10 millions feddans if we got this American seeds, alas, ofc these seeds are copy righted.
Why are they so expensive? The white ones the black ones and the golden ones too. 2 ounces of sesame seeds in my local grocery store cost seven dollars.

Nothing inherently bad about GMOs :) They will save the planet if used correctly!
You are what you eat!
