right now he is just getting destroyed to make him winning against the final boss even more satisfying.
Sonata controls the ball by 'hitting' it multiple times in the air. Activated by hitting melee once you hit the ball it can then be controlled by hitting a direction again (Up, Down, Forward, Back) until it collides with a surface. This gives her a large number of possible mixups, including dodging bunts and hits, moving the ball towards or away from the opponent, or making the ball hit a wall to catch it again herself.

Yo Fruit! The boombox tells you how long the ball is in possession of a player. You'll know when the ball will go flying when someone hits it, especially useful when the ball's going super fast. Just pay attention to the boombox at the bottom of the screen, I suck at explaining things sorry.

hopefully you will see this this time since im not so late, but you can tell when a ball will be released after being hit by looking at the volume on the jukebox at the bottom. when the volume maxes out the ball is released.
