These wedges are phenomenal. The CG change is a dramatic effect that is going to help square the face
Nicely done video Mike. Always enjoy seeing you outdoors.
Great content again Michael! Love your reviews!
Can’t wait to skull my chips with these
Doing it in style
I just got the SIM2 driver and losing balls in the trees has never been more satisfying.
My SM7 wedges are great. Can't wait to try these. Great outdoor review!
They certainly are beautiful, clean looking wedge. I really want to try them out!
Love the review of wedges...I bought a pair of Hogan Equalizer wedges after you last review on wedges...A 46 ' 52' and a 58' to go with the Hogan PTx Pro Irons..Works well and long....Thanks...
Great review! definitely want to try these out
Used the SM8 today for the 1st time, 👌
Excellent review, great to see you up at PGH today, joined a great team at a fantastic facility. Stick in.
Yeh good to see you too Simon!!
I have Cleveland CBX2 wedges and love them
Nice to see you at Penrith and first class review👍
looking good Mike! nice pare 3 hole
Unbelievable rhythm and swing
How much spin OMG - love the different ways of using the wedges.
Bought the SM8 54F Tour Chrome last year. It was my first Vokey wedge. Just ordered the SM8 52F Brushed Steel and 56F Jet Black to complete my wedge set tonight! Time to retire the old TaylorMade TP wedges.
Great review- just ordered the 50-54-58 wedges, got them in the new Blue slate finish. Looking forward to these wedges for the foreseeable future in the bag.
how are you liking the blue slate finish?
@@ryanp6999 to be honest, I really love the look and how they have held up, I like that these SM8 are just perfect to be real. If there is a mishap with these wedges, I can feel it in my swing, so I can drop another ball, swing the wedge correctly and get the desired result. Without a doubt, my best purchase.
3 new wedges in the bag as of the 4th of march. SM8 - 60 m grind 8 degrees of bounce, 56 m grind 8 degrees of bounce and a 50 f grind 8 degrees of bounce and they are everything I have hoped for.
Great review as always .. I sold my SM7’s after i seen TXG’s wet wedge test and saw the Ping Glide 3.0’s were the KING of spin.. playing with a little dew or light rain the Glide 3.0’s will only lose about 1,000 rpm’s compared to all others that lose about 1/2 of their dry spin... that kind of technology is a no brainer... How can you not take advantage of it !
@StephenDiBari how do you like them I am thinking about switching I just got an iron and wedge fit and asked to be fit for the glide 3.0 wedges I have the sm7's right now I do really like them, but I do live in San Francisco California and play and some sort of moisture all year due to the fog that we have... Most mornings and evenings? Your opinion would be appreciated thanks, I'm also a huge fan of TXG I started watching those guys when they had like 2500 subs
Mike Merino I don’t have them yet. I had shoulder surgery in dec. 2019 and can’t swing a club until at least June/July. Like I said I sold my SM7’s after watching TXG’s wet wedge test. For me it’s a no brainer to get into the Glide 3.0’s based off their ability to retain almost all of their dry spin. No other wedge even comes close to the wet spin.
More than likely come early summer at my custom fit at 2ndSwing I’ll be getting into Ping i210 irons 4-GW so the Glide 3.0’s will blend in perfectly. I’ll be getting a 54 & 58 deg. since the i210’s go thru the 50 deg. gap wedge
Good review! I put two in the bag today :)
Nice!
Still have one of the best swings on RUclips bar none. Great review and yes that was really close!
Thanks 👍
Good review...mine on the way soon? 👍
Great video Michael, I think I still want to check out the Cleveland wedges though
Kevin w and affordable
I just get sm8 -60 from my father and I can't wait to drill it😁
Great review as always! I went high bounce this year. 50 F 12, 54 D 12, 58 K 14. Hoping to get a little lower on my strike location and have the confidence to attack bunkers a little more aggressively.
Picked up the 50/8F, 54/10S and a 58/14K. Playing my first round with them Saturday
How do you like the 58*, with that particular grind and bounce?
@@seanm3226 well, turns out they didnt have it in stock and went with a 58/12D, so far so good, using it green side mostly. Like a 3 to 9 o clock swing. Hard pan bunkers where I'm at mostly so i usually pull out the 54
How does the v-sole on the Ben Hogan equalizer wedges compare to all of the bounces and grinds that vokey gives you? Do you truly think there is much benefit or do people just get lost down a rabbit hole with all the options available? All the best and thanks Mike!
Love my brushed steel SM7’s.... but it would be rude not to test the SM8 after Bob went to all of that effort.
Yes - I think they call it Incremental Improvements. Not sufficient for me to change up on this iteration.
I nominate you sir to play the next James Bond.
Hello Michael i normally play with forged irons ie 5 to pw. Will these feel like house bricks?
waiting for SM9 cause they're gonna be better and feel better..
Going to by 4-pw irons so will get sm8 52 56 and 60 wedges not sure on the grind or bounce will have to try before I buy them. Hope golf shops will open soon
Make sure you check what the loft of the PW is as 50/54/58 might be better gapping combo 👍
Is it better to bend a 50 degree wedge one degree weaker, or bend a 52 degree wedge one degree stronger ?
with wedges its always better to bend them weaker rather than bending them stronger than their stock loft
5:33 What year was that wall built? Old stuff is cool!
good question.......a long time ago I'm guessing.
Would you throw them in your bag
I posted essentially the same comment on a similar channel four times asking if the guy was interested in reviewing some component clubs like Golfworks, Hireko, etc. I never got a response or even a comment from other subscribers....not even a thumbs up.
OEM's simply are too expensive for me if bought new. I've been making clubs for 25 years, and for the most part am happy with what I make, but I would live to see how these stack up against the big boys. I can usually assemble a customized set for less than 1/5th the price. Of course you can go thrifting and find big dollar OEM's for almost nothing that are just a few years old.
Anyway, I'm wondering if this is something you're interested in doing? Maybe there are some politics involved that prohibit this. I know that pros and teaching pros would not be caught dead with anything but a brand name, so maybe there's the expectation of not giving them a platform.
More better
58degree…yeah let’s cut those clips
sm6 46 came in 6 , 8 and 10 bounce...sm8 46 is only a massive 10 bounce that will break your wrists.on summer concrete fairways..unless you play like phil mickelson but you dont....so with the extra bounce(metal) very easy to claim a lower cg..bob isnt soft...his nonsense has even fooled michael newton the pro..but not matty the engineer/golfer
These wedge carry to much🤷♂️
Say again? What wedge, which wedge?
@@MichaelNewtonGolf the Sm8 never been able to hit a 48degree 150y and a 58 120y in my life...i always hit them too hard and always getting up pass the greens sometimes....i guess ill have to practice more to learn how to control them! always great review Mike!!!keep it up!!
