On paper, there was no reason the Los Angeles Lakers should've lost that year because they had 4 hall of famers on their team. Granted, both Gary Payton and Karl Malone were past their primes, but they were still good enough to make it to the NBA finals, and still be considered one of the elite teams in the NBA. However, they weren't a team. Even Phil Jackson admitted he didn't know which Lakers team would show up half the time that year. Hence, a less talented underdog team like the Detroit Pistons was able to dominate them because they were a team. Sometimes it's not always about the xs and the os but rather the Jimmies and the Joe's.

She's an RFA. I don't think they want her value inflated, so they're trying to drop her stock as low as possible. Unfortunately, she's averaging 30 PPG and 6 APG over in China (Ranked 1 and 2 in the entire league) so her value is going to be really high for a team that needs a capable player and have the money to spend. Carter really is one of those players that you either overpay (injury and locker room issues) or you get on a great deal like she was last year when she had multiple games of 30+ PPG. If teams drop a huge bag on her, then they're in a situation where they could struggle to complete their roster. They have two players that are important RFA: Micheala is probably making 160k to 200k on the market. Carter is probably up in the 230k range for her value, but it is a scary situation for them because they have to really pay a lot and this will leave them with little room to fill out the roster. Both players could be 180k to 200k as contracts. It'll be really interesting where she'll go, but LA might be the best option for her--given Chicago doesn't want to overpay.

Sounds like the "award" she got was set up by her agent to try to preempt the Sky management from making a decision. Let's be honest here - she is very talented but has already caused enough issues for other teams to decide she wasn't worth killing team morale and spirit. We know that she got along with her last coach - who is no longer working for the Sky and it seems more and more like TW was only interested in really developing two players to the detriment of the rest of the team. Management has decided that isn't what they want to do and went with a new coach. A player who causes chaos on a team would have to be one of the top two or three best players in the league to make it worth while and be a media/fan draw as well. We know that she got along with her last coach - who is no longer working for the Sky and it seems more and more like TW was only interested in really developing two players to the detriment of the rest of the team. Management has decided that isn't what they want to do and went with a new coach.
A player who causes chaos on a team would have to be one of the top two or three best players in the league to make it worth while and be a media/fan draw as well. Carter is not that player at this point.

Chennedy Carter is toxic. She can play for sure and she’s good. But she’s not someone who makes her team better. She can’t control her temper. She bullies. Everybody seems to forget that messy press conference with all the screaming and banging in the background. That will be the obstacle she has to overcome for any team to want her.
Chennedy Carter is just toxic. If she is doing ok in China, it's because she is the top player. You said she is friendly with Angel, but I think they both expect to be the star player. When Angel was stat paddling, Chennedy wouldn't feed Angel the ball. I doubt any team would want her drama.

If they’re willing to let her go despite that, it really makes me question if the rumor has any truth to it.

Carter on the Fever? Hell no! Can she ball? Absolutely but she appears to have a basket full of behavioral issues. The Fever already has a team with what looks like good locker room chemistry and a loose cannon like Carter just doesn't fit that profile. Of course if Mitchell returns and the Fever end up keeping Grace Berger as PG2, there would be no place for Carter anyway. Indiana needs a power forward. Hopefully that will be Sabally but if not there are others out there who could fill that role.

I would take Chennedy because you will get a hell of a player and scrappy defender. She is physical to players on other teams . I dont think she was targeting CC last year just think she knew she had to try to get CC off her game which always failed . It wasnt personal it was just on the court. Which i know many sports athletes that become like her in the game . Watch some dennis rodman video then you all will see what i mean

I think Angel Reece IS the problem. I don't think Carter likes Reece hogging possession for the team, leaving her role as a delivery driver. Does anyone remember how Carter was 'sat down' by the Sky at the end of the season for a couple of games and then, when Carter returned, Angel Reece got her phantom 'injury'? Coincidence? Or is it more likely they can't play together any more? Or I might be wrong, and it might have been an issue with former coach T-Spoon.
