This is kinda cap, plenty of lyrical black rappers don’t get acknowledged either. Lyrical rapping hasn’t been mainstream since early 2000’s at the latest. And most white rappers I see fail to blow up try to be completely lyrical. Someone like Jack Harlow is white and eating cuz he’s less about lyrics and more about vibes, Melodic music similar to a drake who’s not lyrical either. Look at current Eminem sounding like he’s trying to spit every word in the dictionary on every verse that’s how most white rappers I see try to come out and that’s the complete wrong approach IMO

Ok say he may have a point to a degree but heres the facts: first he sounds bitter. He compares what he does to what a soulga boy does and how he gets less credit while soulja boy blows up. Why? Has nothing to do with color. Its simple! More people can relate and can get lit or have have fun to a soulja boy song over his music! He is upset that some rappers are mainstream while people like him stay underground or just never reach the level of a more commercial rapper. And we can use any rapper it doesnt have to be soulja boy, i used him cuz dude said his name specifically.

And lyrical rappers are still mainstream it’s just room for every type of sub-genre to blow up now 😂 kendrick lamar, j.cole , etc
And Rap now is The NUMBER ONE GENRE from what it was back then, we came a long way and everyone helped put in they part for putting it on top
old fucks got to realize its sub-genres for rap now rap would not stay on top if it’s just always lyrical gotta have some fun, melodies, pain, every expression and sometimes expressions doesn’t need deep metaphors and incredible rhyme scheme🤣😂 just vibe out

Im a old white guy and I like a lot of new music but your right after age 28 I think they said something like 97% people stop looking for new music
But Kendrick Lamar and j cole are mad corny and weak lyrically.
There’s very few truly technical lyrical rhyming going on right now at all if any unless it’s the old guys
But I agree with most of what you said, it doesn’t have to be lyrical but it has to be good
That being said the 2010s seemed to be the peak of hip hop genre when the man couldn’t control the internet and tons of people able to contribute and very original ideas were being sparked
people were choosing what they like organically
Now the man understands how to use the internet and everything is more manipulated and gatekept even more so then in the 90s cause back then you could still handout and sell tapes and CDs
