There are million of carpenters in this whole world who build beautiful buildings, houses, bridges and others but, only one carpenter who was build real music in our hearts, that was Karen... you will always be remember forever!
karen carpenters voice remains timeless all through the years...her music contribution is really irreplaceable..rest in peace karen..i know youre singing in heaven..
WOW, Karen Carpenter nailed it! Her flowing impeccable voice and the expression is amazing! I have never heard the Carpenters do this song before! To think she did this song many many years ago, way before Madonna and others sang their version, what an AMAZING Singer! A perfect voice for this song! Beautiful Vibrato, not over done. There will never be another Karen Carpenter so naturally gifted with a voice like hers!
Evita was and still loved and admired by the people of Argentina. Until present days you can see a photo of Evita everywhere you go in Argentina, from a bus station to a top ranked hotel. This woman became a myth and even the new generations recognize her as an important personality in Argentina's history. Evita plus Karen is something touching. Congratulations for the amazing videoclip!
I have spent the whole hour listening to all the versions and this one is by far the best of them all! She has that very distinct voice, very soft, yet very powerful. Her voice will make you wanna listen and really capture the sense in the song.
I like this version the most. Yes Karen had her problems. So do most of us humans. She sang me to sleep many nights. This version got less credit than it deserves. So sad. I have been to her grave. I let it out. I'll never forget telling her she was loved by many loyal fans, including myself. It was a move that may have saved my life. Rest in peace Karen. I will always love you.
Only Karen C. with ability to hit 3 acoutives, contralto voice, can totally make this song a piece of art: A Renoir, Picasso, Cassett, Van Gogh, Michangelo. The Mona Lisa of female vocalist, the artist, name "Karen Anne Carpenter". Thank you, Karen, for the enjoyment we receive from hearing you, paint our canvas, with beautiful, color, form and shape.
"Karen's melting vocals--always their most powerful asset--are lost when they tackle.....'Don't Cry for Me, Argentina.' .....It's a tragic comment on such talent, but Carpenters fans can safely ignore this release....." --Ray Coleman
In fact, iirc, she was considered for the Phoenix role in Phantom of the Paradise. Which could’ve been very interesting, but I think seeing Karen Carpenter’s nipples would’ve scarred me for life. Not my Karen. 😆
It’s not just her voice carrying the tune is the difference, I think. I’ve always melted for her lilting voice, but usually I did not like the music of her biggest hits. In this tune she is matched with flawless orchestration, and it’s breathtaking! Karen is one of those 70s artists whose best work is found mostly on the albums, not so much the singles, at least in my opinion. If you are mostly familiar with the singles, buy one of her albums, especially from the early years. I promise you won’t be disappointed.
A remarkable rendition of Don't Cry for me Argentina sung by one of the most beautiful voices of our time. The video is excellent. Thank you for sharing.
What a beautiful presentation!! The collection of videos & photograph are amazing. Karen's voice & the song are perfect - full of feeling but not over-emotional the way so many have sung it. For those who haven't read up on Eva Peron...She was loved because she started a charity in which she personally met with as many poor families as possible, taking notes on what they needed. Then, with donations required of mainly business, she built a whole community of homes from scratch for them.
This is now my favourite song of all time. I am 14. This is soooo much better than all that new hip-hop crap, its all the same. Nice soothing songs like this are where its at! :)
Superb video! The newsreel footage of Evita Peron along with Karen Carpenter's singing was fantastic. Karen's singing, along with the orchestra and back-up singers just nailed the song in my opinion. Patti Lupone may have made a name for herself playing Evita on Broadway and I'm not taking anything away from her because she owned the role of Evita Peron, but Karen definitely sang the definitive version of this great song.
+Kaoru Jankov OK dear ! But if you are onto looking for curious variety, i´ll recommend this song Evita under the versions of PALOMA SAN BASILIO ( Spain ) and VALERIA LYNCH ( Argentina ) . Thank you
SHE is one of the few singers in the world who was able to sing low notes efficiently. IN fact she reigned supreme on singing low notes . MOST of the famous singers even have / had problems producing same degree of excellence while singing low notes . IT specially happens when a high note of a song plunges to a low note and requires to remain there between three and seven seconds -- here most of the singers find themselves in an unknown territory but LATE KAREN CARPENTER was different and exclusive. AND of course her mellifluous voice which still enthralls the audience UP AND DOWN THE WORLD. INDEED, A RARE VOICE.
I am an Indian ..I grew up hearing Karen Carpenter .. God ..What a voice and what rendition .. The song made me emotional when I was a teenager and today heard it after 41 years ...Sitting in Buenos Aires ..City of Evita Peron .. I don't know the truth of Evita Her Husband .. But the song is immortal ..And so also Karen Carpenters singing .. Madonna should be thankful she got to sing this absurdly wonderful melody ..... Dr Mitra Saxena India 23 rd Oct 2018
One of the most touching and beautiful videos on youtube, if not the most beautiful! Karen singing this is heartfelt, you can feel it! Beautiful song about a beautiful woman, sung by a beautiful woman!
I had never seen all this footage before. Very rare indeed. Nor had I noticed that Eva Duarte and Karen had died at about the same age. Thank you for this production. In my opinion, Karen attained the pinnacle of her singing at the time of Passages. She could have sung anything she wanted to had she been better guided and her mental health more robust. What a sad, sad loss.
All these years I have loved only you Karen.... Since I met you a long time ago....(1973 I was twelve years old....Just a teenager) ...you came and hugged me and kissed my face, from that moment on I feel in love with you. I Iive for you Karen, I breathe for you and I feel emotions for you my love . Today I feel like a widower without you here.. I suffer everytime I hear you singing..... Your sad eyes and your sweet voice kill me slowly... I know that someday I'll go where you are Karen... Wait for me my love. Please I beg you wait for me my Karen....
The first time I have heard this version of this song. And once again, Karen Carpenter's crystal clear, sweet, and strong voice gives this a life of it's own. Undoubtedly, the Number 1 female voice of the '60s and '70s.....so sad that her talent was unable to triumph over her personal esteem issues. I feel sadness whenever I hear her beautiful voice, because of that.....having known people, personally, who have fought those same issues their entire life.
Boy, what a great arrangement for Karen’s voice and style. They knew each other so well and Richard played to her strengths in his arrangements. I just love her voice…their songs helped me through the 70s
HOWEVER, in Evita's case, her ''breaking of hearts'' was JUST the result of her (and JUAN.) manipulating the ''great unwashed'' ignoramus peasant masses, by ''buying them off'' AND ''brainwashing'' them with her ''HORSECRAP'' SO-CALLED, empathy for the ''dregs of uncivilized society''. get real, you SAPPY, naive MORONS!!! who BELIEVE Andrew Lloyd Webbers ''PABLUM'', which, POSSIBLY, the evil CIA PAID him to write!!!, in the hope of helping the PERONIST party win the next election!!!. by the way, you gullible SIMPLETONS!!!, all '' Evita LA PUTA'' cared about was the wealth and power she could have by ''gulling'' and ''fleecing'' the ''suffering poor'' out of their MEAGER amount of MOOLA, and, as ever the ''HAM'' actress, by ''whipping'' up the ''stoner-like'' crowd of ''trash scavengers'' into an emotional, HYSTERICAL, FRENZY, so that they would CHEER for HER!!!. how ''shallow'' can you get?. maybe (this may sound like a conspiracy-theory.), she was becoming a THREAT to Juan Peron's ''POWER'', which COULD have driven him to ''POISON'' Evita, and, make it LOOK like she died of CANCER!!. stranger things have happened!!!, you brain-dead Boobies!!!.
Madonna is a very attractive woman but the real 'Evita' outshines her as much as Karen's voice simply outclasses her.Thank you for posting what i believe is the definitive version of this classic song!
How could two people not like this. A great singer with a great song. The video really adds to the history of what the song is about.
There are million of carpenters in this whole world who build beautiful buildings, houses, bridges and others but, only one carpenter who was build real music in our hearts, that was Karen... you will always be remember forever!
As an argentinian, I can't be so happy this beautiful woman made this incredible version of the song of our country. Happier than life
No doubt. She is one of the greatest singer of all time. In my opinion, she has the most beautiful voice of all.
karen carpenters voice remains timeless all through the years...her music contribution is really irreplaceable..rest in peace karen..i know youre singing in heaven..

not even madona can duplicate the song " dont cry for me argentina" rendered by karen carpenter.
OMG, Wow, A Huge Thank You, The Carpenters singing this Gorgeous song & with Karen''s voice, Perfection, a Real beauty..

1741clovis Thank you. She is STILL so loved❤
I agree with you. No one can perform this song as Karen does. Bravo Karen, Bravo.

I believe without question that this very piece is the single greatest performance of Karen's entire career.

Whoever this person was, he was quite incorrect. Karen Carpenter could have been an actress in the right hands.
definately this is the best version of the song. madona , paige, brightman dont hold a candle, if karen did broadway it would have been amazing
In fact, iirc, she was considered for the Phoenix role in Phantom of the Paradise. Which could’ve been very interesting, but I think seeing Karen Carpenter’s nipples would’ve scarred me for life. Not my Karen. 😆

So beautiful and moving, her voice does it all... So much emotion..... And of course, the sheer quality of her vocal prowess...
Never thought she could sing this song.the best interpretation I ever heard!
Brilliant as always. Karen sets the bar for every song she sings.
Que voz bella ! Sublime, no conocia esta version de The carpenters. Sencillamente preciosa. Lovely...Kisses from Argentina.
Her reading was nearly sublime she does justice to this awesome song
It gave me chills. she had the most beautiful voice

so smooth, so sattle, yet her voice is so sharp that pierce thru my heart! best version of this song, no one else can do better.
surely it can't get any better than this. KC's one-and-only standout voice and great visuals.

Proud to be in Karen Carpenter's home county now for 28 years!!!! Orange County!!!! Way to go OC!!!!
i find it amazing how Karen can make such a difficult song sound so easy and simple..and yet so easy to listen too...
One of the best female vocalists of all time. Such a tragedy.

One of the most touching and beautiful videos on youtube, if not the most beautiful! Karen singing this is heartfelt, you can feel it! Beautiful song about a beautiful woman, sung by a beautiful woman!
With All my heart I bow deeply to Evita - so human !! As a Singaporean I respect her more than I respect my President and Prime Minister..

Bravissimo!! Probably the best rendition of this now classic song. Even better than Sarah Brightman and Madonna's version IMHO.
Madonna is a very attractive woman but the real 'Evita' outshines her as much as Karen's voice simply outclasses her.Thank you for posting what i believe is the definitive version of this classic song!
This song reminds me of one of the most liked movies EVITA. Evita peron was Argentinian's first lady.
This is the best version in my opinion. It's so clean and crisp. Why did you have to leave us so soon Karen?
Gracias Karen por recordar a nuestra Evita
I am simply speechless!
She could sing ANYTHING!
