As a London lad I first went to the Ace in 1966, It was a true greasy spoon no shop no glamour and the juke box was in a cage. In those days we were the Cafe racers not the bikes a common misconception in these times. The Ace was cool but for me The Busy Bee was where is was at it was like an American diner 24/7 364 days a yr if memory serves . I never stopped riding and now at near 74 yrs old still with no car I hope to be riding a few more yrs yet. Off to the Harley rally in Italy next week woo hoo as the kids say :) .

I was always told to fear an old man in a young man’s game. I fancy myself a pretty good rider and the last old geezer I rode with left me in his dust. Proving again what I’d been told.

2016, a Canuck from Vancouver is visiting England with his wife who left England back in 1968. We’re in a little village staying with family outside Milton Keynes and I say “who wants to see the iconic Ace Cafe?”
No takers so off I go on the bus to Leighton Buzzard, get on the train and eventually find my way to The Ace Cafe! On the forecourt is a a car show and inside is a great history lesson of the infamous mods and rockers era.
After a burger I head to the gift store and get a couple keychains for the guys back home. I decide on the bullet shells attached to a key ring.
Bad choice. On the way home at the airport of course the x-ray picked them up and they were immediately confiscated! I shoulda thought of that.
Consolation: I also got the black t-shirt with the motto “speed thrills”👍🏻
    Thx for the memories Freddie!

I first went into the Ace cafe, in 1966, as a 10-year-old pillion, on my brother`s Triumph. It was a fantastic experience which influenced the rest of my life. Sadly, he was killed the following year, on that bike. When the original Ace closed, it seemed to me that it was a link with the past, that would never return. Glad it survives today.

The Ace Cafe and all the British bikes feature in a great kitchen sink drama from 1963 called the leather boys. A few RUclips channels have the whole film in decent quality if you search for it. It even has a young Mike Baldwin from Corrie in it, a great period film whether you appreciate the bikes or not.

In the early to mid 1990s I used to stop by the site on my bike. You would often see Mark Wilsmore sitting in front of a little cabin with a sign explaining the campaign to reopen the Ace and a bucket for contributions. He was a friendly bloke and I would put a few quid in the kitty even though I thought it was a bit of a longshot. Shows how much I know! An amazing success, well done Mark. The location is superb - a service road off the North Circular and close to the start of the M1. The neighbours are more commercial than residential which helps keeps the complaints down. Re the Bonneville, that front mudguard is useless, get yourself a full-size one, it will help you keep the bike clean. Cheers!

I live fairly close to the ace and was a regular visitor once, not so much now though. I tend to head south more now, Rykas has new owners and they are doing a fantastic job, Loomies also is a great coffee stop. Ive done many Ace Runs, Brighton, Southend and Margate to name a few. Since Mark did a great job on getting the Ace reopened many other coffee stops and biker venues have opened and maybe over taken (no pun intended) the Ace, great of the nostalgia although not often worth the effort of getting there for me anyways. If you've never been a must visit. Just found you're channel this morning and really enjoyed this film, many thanks.

I spent most of my teenage years back in the early 60s in the ace cafe, being all night with bikes coming and going. The likes of BSA"s triumphs bsa gold stars tritons Ariels Velocettes and many moore. In 69 it shut down and became a tyre company. And what is so wonderful when it reopened as the Ace cafe as we know it today the original Rockola juke box was found upstairs on the first floor if my memory doesn't fail me. Good old days, had a great impact on my teenage years..

Fantastic to see you back on the Bonnie, Freddie - now you have to look after it ☺! I live pretty close to the Ace, and normally it would be full of bikes, even on a Wednesday. I guess the weather kept people away.

Tho I live in London I’ve never been to the Ace Cafe on the North Circular Road tho I’ve passed it hundreds of time over the years! As I’ve got some time off soon I think are jump on the bike one morning & take a trip up there for breakfast, very good video Freddie & the Bonnie looks & sounds great too Joe from the WURKS has done brilliant!

I used to work in Park Royal for over 30 years, before it's reopening as you see it now, it was a car Tyre Centre... Hence the big front windows where the shutters used to be....
They do a very good breakfast & are always very friendly here.
    Great video! 👍👍👍

Brilliant video, love how you incorporate a bit of ACE CAFÉ history. I would like to recommend the WARR'S 100th anniversary celebration on Saturday 6th July. You can't miss out on that!

We notice Monika doesn’t seem to be so involved in your vids lately. Tell her my wife misses her input. The Bonnie looks fantastic, you must be so very pleased. Keep up the good work 😉👍

Last time I was there was 20 years ago. It hasn't changed. I remember being there at a Triumph day back in 2004 for a Rocket 3 event put on by Jack Lilley Triumph.

The scooter isn't a Vespa or a Lambretta. It's a Royal Alloy, a British designed Chinese/Taiwanese built Lambretta clone with a Honda GY6 125cc engine. I know this because I own a 300cc version. Love your videos Freddie, always really interesting.

Be honest...I'm not a really bike lover or have no idea about the bikes. But I like the way you are talking to the camera .as well as I'm also very interested in listening to your English .

Your bike looks so much smarter. Think it a combination of the new tank badge, silencers, front brake disks and the handlebar setup.

Get a fender extender Freddie to keep the crud off that rebuilt engine 😊
