HI, I did something similar a couple of jears ago. My fixture looks different but results is the same. With these pistons I had temperature problems I solved by reducing the upper 5mm diameter of the piston
Awesome these aircooled engines run extremely hot it seems this one hasn’t seized (luckily) and been well over 200c, I normally relieve the top outer diameter as well.
I picked up a CNC router. Just trying to figure out where to start. Did you write your own G-Code to cut these Pistons? Or did you draw it in some kind of a program and then send it to the machine?
Yep i use fusion 360 to draw what i want the piston to look like and then create the tool path, from there you send the code to your control software (i use mach 3) and that controls the router, but first you need to design or copy the holder i that i made, its a lot of mucking around but once done its repeatable.

If you do get one and have trouble with it like i did, let me know and i might be able to help, i went for the non usb version and i use a uc100 to connect via usb, gd luck.
Ottimo lavoro top top complimenti

Maybe try bolting a drill press vice to the cnc. Maybe where bolt marks piston u could just make a small dimple like golf balling mods for oiling.
Thats a good idea i will do that, i need to find a nice low profile vice
@@makeorbreak2798 harbor freight man, 20 bucks. Very low profile vice, 4 bolts to secure, looks like the drill press table with slots.
@@SnookTuned nice 👍 i will have a look
wich CNC router table are you using?
Drop a plastic bead, or ball of salder down in those holes and you won't mark the piston.
What lathe are u using and how much did it cost
Its a cq9332 lathe i am unsure but i think they are about 2000us

Take off .002'' off the top 1/4'' circumference of the piston, .002'' around for a .004'' total.
Yeah ok i will do this when i machine the combustion chamber
Hi, Nice work! Could you tell me what cnc 6040 you are using?
Thank you🙏 its the common alloy 6040 you will see on alliexpress i have since upgraded the gantry using the same machine. 👍
Thanks, could you maybe post me a link? There's a whole bunch on there but I didn't see the one that you mentioned.

Did the piston survive? Or has it cracked
Yes mate the piston is good i had it too lean and it was well over 200c, its still good i have that engine apart and just been looking at the piston
Could you post a link to that CNC router? Thanks
As above 👍

Thanks, Just curious. What problems did you have?
Just a few issues missing steps & loosing sync its easily sorted.
Looks like a esp lightened piston
I did just see one the other week and yep they are fairly similar
