What a great statistic! Jay Robinson was the only other PBA player besides Earl Anthony to earn $30,000 on tour from 1973 thru 1980. I've long believed he was one of the truly unheralded players of his era, but this quirky stat shows just how truly consistent he was.
Does anyone know what ball Wayne Webb was using? Steve Martin was using a Brunswick Mark X, a polyester/plastic ball...it's amazing how he gets that to move and carry. Steve Cook won the '81 Firestone w/ the same ball.
John McDevitt The Black Hammer was the first urethane ball that had a two piece weight block. The other balls that were available at the time had pancake weight blocks in them.
Man the audio for this is crisp and clear

Yeah, and he *never* finished in the top 9 during that 8 year period. Twice he finished 10th.
30,000 in 1973 is about $203,000 in today money
@@crgray1979 not bad. And when you bowl for a living, consistency is king. And he certainly was
Made a lot of cuts, but not many shows or titles.
(1:03:21) Awesome spare followed by an exciting strike! Enjoy!😃

What a great last match between Webb and Martin. Wayne Webb is an all-time great. Steve Martin was always tough to bowl against. Thanks for the video.
I heard something about Steve Martin........that he's a WILD AND CRAZY GUY!!
When they had the Fair Lanes open, it alternated between the Baltimore area centers one year and the Washington, DC area the next.
The first, semi final, and title matches were exciting and close
1:03:36...Boy Steve Martin can make that 2-10! Did it in another tournament as well against Gary Dickinson (after he covered the 6-7-10)!!!
I was at this TV Finals in Baltimore on a beautiful spring Saturday, sitting at the practice pair assisting a newspaper photographer friend.
that title winning strike we got to relive from Mr. Burton jr. looked just like a Dick Weber shot, JUST LIKE HIM lol
I like KABC-7.
Who did the disco theme song for the pba?
Bob James.
Do you have the showboat invitational from 1985?
Andrew Phillips do you need it posted so you can spoil the outcome?
Andrew Phillips go to PBA and search, all tournaments are listed. You can also look on Flobowling who have a complete history
12:59 old messanger!
Was the Angle REALLY the first ever urethane ball?? I thought it was the Black Hammer.
The AMF Angle was the first ever urethane ball. The black Hammer came out two years later [1982].
I read one of Bill Spigner's Bowling Digest articles which said that the Faball Hammer was the first urethane ball on the market. I'll look it up. : /
John McDevitt the brunswick "edge" couldn't have been too far behind!!!!

Pancake = 3-piece?
Wayne Webb got 7 pins on his fill shot to win by one pin in the fair lanes open
Someone says, ange, that you are a dirty, smelly, runny, filthy asshole.
