Thank you, Avital! You really are an amazing resource, this is such wonderful, common-sense advice. My oldest stepson got a dumb phone at 14 and his first smartphone at 15. My younger stepson got a dumb phone at 10 because he needs to travel between our home and his mother's sometimes, and we want to be able to reach him. I'd love a part 2. Particularly, I am wondering about appropriate ages for dumb phones, smartphones, and getting into social media. For instance, my stepson was pretty old at 15 for a smartphone, compared to his mates, but I was still shocked about the amount of not-youth friendly trash that came into his life as soon as he got one.
I have 3 boys, 9, 5 and almost 2. I don't have a smartphone myself, and told my elder son he would first get a dumbphone, and then get a smartphone only when he can pay for it himself. He said "I knew it, and I am grateful for it". He appreciates feeling us around him, I am so thankful for it! The words you drew attention on "strangers" and "algorythm" struck me, that sums up so well the connection dangers! I would love a part two!!!
Wonderful advice 💐Why can’t more mothers of today have common sense like yours! The mothers of today give their children EVERYTHING and then they wonder why their children have sleep problems, concentration problems, weight problems and anxiety problems.Keep up the great work….I hope they listen to your advice for them and their children. They think by giving so much their loving them but in the long term they are actually taking from them, their childhood ,imagination, self esteem and bonding with making friends face to face not through a screen.
Great, clear, common sense advice. Thanks for articulating it so well, and so proudly! So funny that we need to state today that "we don't need a phone to have friendships"!!
In my mind as an optometrist who sees children's vision getting worse every day with phone use and eye dryness is pretty severe even among 5-6 year olds, the answer is an absolute NO!!!
Great vid, thanks! I have a 7 yr old who is begging for something to play music and listen to audible on - I’ve looked at yoto boxes but it will be expensive and impractical for us as we already have loads of audible books and we live in the jungle in Costa Rica so can’t get hold of things easily! Any ideas for low tech music and audiobook listens for young ones? Obviously I’d love a nice set up where they can go and put on a vinyl but that’s just not our life right now!
I love how you address these issues, Avital. Thank you! I'm actually doing some market research for a project of my own on screens and play. If you are a parent who wants to cut your kid's screen time in half, I'd love to talk to you about it. Please respond to this comment and I’ll follow up with you to schedule a 15-minute zoom call. 💗
Ugh. At this point, I'm not even sure I should have a smart phone. Joking/not joking. But in reality, my 6 year old came to me asking for a phone because a 7 yo neighbor kid got a smart phone. Oye - I never expected this issue so early. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. I told him no. And he didn't push for long. Maybe a few days and then he moved on to other things. Hasn't been an issue since. I got my first phone at about 17, and it wasn't a smart phone (that wasn't even a thing then). I don't know when my kids will get phones, but it will be a decision we make on based on our own values not societal standards.
I am a doctor turned stay at home mom for (for now 😉) I’m soo glad o have stumbled on your channel. I hope more moms get to see your content. Thank you, Avital! Please keep the great content coming! ❤

I totally agree with your tips ❤ I'm mother of 3,5 and 6,5 , I'm Polish , used to live in UK . I'm fighting with this mobile phones generation , trying to protect my kids from mobile addiction . If all mothers shared your attitude ,world would be beautiful 🥰 I'm impressed by the way you talk , you are very smart and inteligent , it's a pleasure to meet you. Hi from your new fan from Poland 👋
I cannot believe my 5 year old is insisting they ‘need’ a phone. Geez they start so young. This video has lots of good advice because mom guilt can really mess with your head. 😊

Do your kids have phones? At what age? What are your rules? ...and do you want a part 2?

Serious question: don’t you think it’s very very bad nutrition?
@@beertjem1 what you mean
That the vision and dry eye is part of nutrition ?
I got my kids walkie-talkies so I can be in touch with them.
Me too!
Yes for part two:)
My twin babies loved your videos ❤
Part 2 please ❤
