Saying "I'm pro life, but..." is very similar to "yes, I should pick up my cross and follow God with all my life, but..."
Its mainly from Christians who want justify their own evil lives by justifying other evil lives.

I like how the topic is approached...but the argument here is not whether abortion is moral or not.
We do need to think about it from a secular point of view - because the US and our constitution are secular. This is not a theocracy.
I'd love for you to think about why you feel comfortable making a life-altering decision for someone else, and whether you'd want a stranger to make decisions about your life.
However you feel about abortion, nearly everyone who's had one didn't think they'd need one. I'd rather safe, legal care be available for everyone, and I trust people to make their own decisions.

Wow - thank you so much for speaking on this issue. I once thought abortion in the circumstances of rape or incest made sense and was 'compassionate' and I have friends and family who still feel this way. It is so important to remember that God is sovereign and all life inside the womb is made in the image of God.

Why don't Christians show some concern about the father of the unborn child? Surely, God does not teach us that children are women's property. The father of the child may want to adopt his child or find someone else to adopt his child. We have passed laws that a father MUST spend the next 18 years of his life paying child support to help raise his child. Yet, we are not willing to ask a mother to carry her child to term so that the father or someone else can adopt the child. Why don't fathers matter?

Really great to hear this- I'm in the early stages of educating myself and living pro-life, not just saying it with no action as many Christians do, just as you say.
One thing though- how could someone so passionate about life inside the womb, someone who knows that we don't have the right to take that life which was given by God, possibly say that the death penalty could be reasonable even for a rapist? If we don't have the right to take the unborn baby's life, then I don't see why we have the right to take the criminal's life (and yes, I know he suggested castration too, but I wanted to specifically ask about the suggestion of killing). Maybe you have thoughts on this you could discuss in another episode? By the way, I'm British, so it's not like death penalty is a reality in my country so it could perhaps be that mindset.

Natural law (Gods law) is based upon 2 main principles: Non-aggression and Self defense. It means you shouldn't SEEK to take others right but you MUST defend your own. Meaning, basically it means eye for eye. U might think it's unfair but it is actually the fairest principle since it is based upon the Golden Rule.

I would like to offer the idea as a Christian that we develop our arguments against abortion without using God and the Bible (when we are talking to non-believers).
I think we can argue simply based on that murder (the taking of an innocent life) is wrong to everyone in western culture and that abortion is murder.
To counter “my body, my choice” I would ask a mother if she should be allowed to murder her one year old. And if not why not? And why doesn’t that apply to the innocent child in the womb.
I think it is too easy for people to dismiss us as “religious right” and we shouldn’t try to force our religion on anyone (which is true) but rather appeal to the morality that is already accepted.

I have to say I’m really disappointed with this episode. I haven’t been following long and honestly after today’s episode I’m not sure if I want to keep doing so. That’s not a threat by any means. I’m sure your channel did just fine without me and will continue to do so without, but I DO believe there’s not only room for compassion surrounding these situations but a necessity for it. You are entitled to your beliefs and I respect them. I don’t like abortion or the death penalty. I don’t believe it’s ever okay to kill but I do believe that there’s nothing God can’t forgive if we truly repent and offer ourselves up to his judgement and grace. I believe the beauty of God’s plan is agency. I was suicidal almost the entire duration of my pregnancy. I was not a believer at the time. The only thing that kept me from taking my own life was not wanting to take my daughter’s as well. Had I not loved her with my whole heart and felt she had a right to existence, no matter how she had been conceived, I probably would have killed us both. So I understand that sometimes victims of rape, incest, or abuse are simply not strong enough to handle that situation. Had someone tried for force me to keep her and I not had that belief, I would have for sure, committed suicide and taken her with me unless someone realized I was a danger to us both and intervened. So I will always encourage a woman who did not choose to participate in sex to carry her child and tell her how your greatest blessing can come from the worst thing that ever happened to you, but I will never support forcing her.

I agree the PTSD and major depression that comes from that traumatic event can threaten the lives of some women..
The mental health system is broken and often her pharmacological options are limited..
If the woman is strong enough to carry the child she should..
But we can’t force a woman who is in distress and in danger to continue something that would only escalate it
