I’ve never used Norton but McAfee is pretty good! The software is light and when I’m running virtual machine with it turns on. It doesn’t slow down my PC at all

Been using Norton exclusively since around 2006, and stuck around even through their strange growing phase of changing product names/suites and making new types of products then awkwardly merging them or quietly retiring them. A lot of people seem to have a knee-jerk reaction to belittling or downplaying the software, but the capabilities and competency of its anti-malware engine have been proven to me multiple times throughout the years, and I am a happy user. I currently use the package with the LifeLock option.

I've been using Norton ever since it was on a 3.5" disk. I believe it's the best from what I've heard from others that have used different ant-viruses and then switched to Norton. I do use Norton 360 with the ability to install it on 10 computers. Great video btw.

Used most of them, Norton, Trend, McAfee, Kaspersky, Microsoft & all failed in their own way. Norton made my new PC unbearably slow & a worm still made it in. Trend was pleasant but still let a virus in & later let a hacker in. McAfee I was lucky to join them when they had just cleaned up their slow reputation, but at the cost of detection ability (waits for files to run before scanning, risky); still got a virus but it fixed it with 1 scan. Kaspersky's added features slowly stopped working like virtual keyboard to protect passwords. Microsoft least impact on Windows (duh) but virus still snuck in.

Sorry for being blunt but how in the fuck do you get so many viruses Ryan? Is it because you're downloading pirated files by clicking big green download buttons ? I'm sorry but if you went through so many anti-virusus and still managed to have viruses that "snuck" through. Perhaps you don't need an anti-virus Ryan, you just need a brain and some common sense on the internet.

@@notproplayer3649 lol no offense taken, if I were in your shoes I'd think the same. But I'm in my late 30s & this is decades worth of experience, some of which is me being an idiot but if you care for some explanation you'll see most were just bad luck: -
      1. Norton - was a teen on a shared home PC with a bro that didn't care what he downloaded. Dial up internet meant we never updated Windows because it took too long so when Blaster worm hit PCs in the early 2000s we were unpatched.
      2. Trend - 100% my fault, in my early 20s, trying to watch TV on my own PC. Clicked the wrong thing & got a virus. The worm came from an online Matrix game that wasn't my fault, guess hackers just gravitated to a game about hacking & decided to mess with me.
      3. McAfee I convinced my parents to install McAfee on their PC & it detected a virus they caught, not my fault. Oh & just recently McAfee corrupted itself on their PC & I needed to fix it for them.
      4. Kaspersky - Not my fault because not a virus, it was just Kaspersky removing features.
      5. Microsoft - Not my fault, related to point 3, parents had a resident virus prior to installing McAfee & it found & cleaned what Microsoft couldn't.

@@EagleLeader1 Hey, I must say I'm really surprised but I also really respect how well you took my very mean comment and actually gave some context to your story instead of (very rightfully) wanting to not respond. Thus, I apologize for the way I acted.
Regarding your story, what can I say, it really does seem like a streak of either bad luck, either things out of your control. Interesting insight on the different anti viruses too.
However, like my previous comment suggested, I haven't yet have to deal with other's people computer getting viruses.
In the early days, I'd regularly get viruses and sometimes they would entirely fuck up my computer but I always managed to resolve these issues, probably due to the fact that what I downloaded was more crapware than a real virus.
In any case, these, at the time, frequent occurrences didn't bother me that much and made me wary of what things were suspicious or not, regardless, I stopped using anti-viruses quite a lot of time ago because dealing with quite a lot of different files (code, obscure software, even some certain game files), no matter what anti virus I had, it would always find a way to fuck up my files even though I knew it was safe. But this is my story and I guess it is natural for me to live without an anti-virus for some time now but not everyone is willing to take the risk or to learn from getting infected from time to time as I did (my parents are an example too of people that I'd perhaps not trust to do many things without an anti-virus I must admit), hence, as your story explains it, anti viruses do make sense for many people.
But hey, in my mind, computer security has always been active rather than passive. These days there are so many hardware and machine code level exploits that are discovered that sometimes, no anti-virus other than your common sense is going to save you ; )
      Cheers mate!

I have a lot of issues with McAfee over the years and now thinking I go back to Norton. I used to have Norton 360. Norton is trojan. Power consumption is unpredictable. So you have already to uninstall one exe file. After when you have enough and you want to quit - MUCH FUN! MUCH FUN! Yesterday i was thinking to make a youtube video how it is not working. First the program hangs up. Then you need to install (the next trojan!!!) the Tool Norton Remove and Reinstall. Of course it is not working like it should. You still get popups and you have to delete files on your computer manuel. Much fun with this. And of course i guess they dont care at all about your data. UNTRUSTWORTHY in every point.

Quick help from Norton? Well I've waited for an hour and been disconected. Also, their chat bot is not helpful if you have anything out of the ordinary. And they are expensive.

Use AVG their free antivirus is better than both Norton and McAfee. They also have a paid version that is cheaper and far more effective.

I jumped to the end of this video knowing what the conclusion would be. Norton is better. In fact, all of his videos comparing Norton to other brands, Norton wins. Why? Is it because this opportunistic clown gets paid by Norton? Don’t believe a word of it. Norton is a ripoff. !!!

Been using Norton since 2004, my sister, brother and I split the cost for 5 licenses for the 360 Deluxe every year. I get one for each of us, plus my gf and then we have an extra one left over in case someone gets a new machine. $10-20 / year ain't too hard to come by. Even if I wanted to switch to another they are all so attached to the Norton Password Vault that I decided "why change it?". The few times I was having an issue with it in the last 18 years, I was able to chat with support immediately and they even remote desktop to fix everything for you. We generally do not use the mobile app, I prefer LookOut for my devices. It is just what I am used to.
