Honestly, I liked Boni Boyer the most out of all the Prince's female vocalists, other than Jill and even Lisa. Rosie was great; however, her voice was so powerful, it felt like she had to restrain it. Boni's voice was clutch...RIP

TI wouldn't be surprised if Prince developed Partyman from this track after he was commissioned to do the Batman soundtrack. He was well known for recycling unreleased songs from one project into something for another.
Clearly the some of the backing track (drums, keyboard bass, claps , some keys... etc) have been speed up from 33 and a third to 45 then played & sang over at that speed keeping in line with his interest in that theme of the time.... hard studio work for the engineer... yes!
I can hear this in the claps I think? Would have been sped up tape though surely, not cut to record and then spend up to 45! Got any more info on this technique being used by Prince?
