It’s UNREAL!! Been in church all my life…..and am just NOW finally “getting it”…..in LARGE part thanks to how Pastor Paul lays out all the biblical truths….. Thanks be to God!! My personal bible study is SO much better and richer now!! Thank you Pastor Paul!!
Recently, I've been obsessed with reading Jonah, I don't know what it is, but there is something very endearing, heartwarming and beautiful about it. I find it very relatable at times and very humanizing. I love it. I have re-read it maybe a handful of times... lol probably more but I never get tired of it.
Greetings to all. Thank you Pastor Paul for your awesome, edifying, insightful and powerful messages, prayers and scriptures. May the Lord continue to, bless, guide, lead, protect, shield and watch over you and your family.
Great bible study! I got my mom tuning in. She absolutely loves Pastor Paul's teaching of the bible and his sense of humor just like me. I got her an ESV bible to go with him in Scriptures. She Said he explains everything so easy for her in the bible. I agree he does too. I'm happy to see her diving in her bible drawing closer to God.
So I just read through Jonah before I watched the teaching here and I just started laughing almost uncontrollably at Jonah running away from God's command. He went opposite from what God told him to do...and I asked myself why is he running from God. When I really think about it, there have been so many times in my own life where I ran away from something God called me to do whether it be from fear or anger...it was always from a misguided heart. I receive the prayer to align my heart with the heart of God's because in doing so I will never allow myself to be selfishly motivated. This teaching was spectacular, thank you for your teaching of God's Word. God Bless you Pastor Paul!❤
Hope they get the message ..it's such a beautiful short long story..truly how everyone in High places look at others..few are chosen..loves all ..hope salvation for all
This was sooooooo good. It really made me take a look at myself. I don’t have anyone personally but I have looked at criminal shows and some of the things people have done is horrific! To little kids, their own children, parents and I just feel when you go that far there is no salvation for them. Like I said it really gave me something to look at and pray over. Thanks Pastor Paul.
Absolutely amazing teaching pastor Paul. You just spoke right into my heart! I have never heard so much insight from this short book ever! Thank you. God bless you abundantly.
Wonderful! I am trying to learn more about the history of the Bible and this is the first book I am going in to, likely because it focuses on the prophet as you mentioned. Thanks for the context and word!
I really enjoyed this sermon on Jonah! I will be checking out more of your teachings. I also study with Pastor Arnold and Dennis Murray of the Shepherds Chapel. They are also very excellent bible teachers for anyone that may be interested in checking them out.
I have been honored to teach a few classes at my church. I am no bible scholar but I love my church and the Bible so all your teachings have helped me in creating my studies. You are a blessing and hope to hear more. Continue the race God has set before you
Oohhhhh weeee this lesson touched my heart soo so much I was laughing with you and so much personal stuff in my life was touched on. About my brothers and some crazy stuff. they probably won't ever understand but I pray for them everyday so whatever God is wanting to do. he will.
Thank you so much Pastor for the wonderful word. I have never read the book of Jonah and gotten such a deep understanding of it, and I think a lot of people are unaware that the book of Jonah actually deals or talks about Jonah. I even realized that my own heart is not in tune with Gods, and its a matter of acknowledging that and allowing God to help us tune our hearts to Him.
Such a great expose on the book of Jonah. I’m teaching the final chapter tomorrow in Children’s Church and so appreciate the points you brought out! I have gleaned several nuggets that will be wonderfully helpful! God bless you!
it's a good reminder for us being unmerciful to others and having a self righteous attitude that God is merciful to us and that we should extend that grace to others. Great sermon PP! 👏
Pastor Paul I really love your teachings. I'm from Ethiopia, cush according to your Bible😊. In our Amharic Bible 'In 3 days Nineveh shall be overthrown' and l learnt just today that it is 40 days in the English Bible?
Obviously the Book of Jonah is God breathed. Just because it doesn't pose a problem doesn't mean that we should not question and learn. We should wonder and be amazed by what God has created. We should be inspired to learn but always remembering that at the end of time all that will remain is God's salvation and faithfulness. A salvation that will last for ever and a faithfulness that will never fail.
8:41 this happened in my family! It is about as serious as it gets. I found this passage that relates to when someone's conduct has become so wanting that God intervenes in dramatic style as you can see in Job 33:15-30. I would describe it as a twisted out-of-shape attitude problem that doesn't resolve quickly, it drags on and becomes the person's overarching characteristic. The person in my family did literally almost die to the letter of the description in Job 33. Let it be a warning to us all.
How big is God? If we don't believe in the story of Jonah or of Noah then we don't believe that God who made the heavens and the earth and who made humans with all our many complexities is not able to keep a man in the belly of a fish for 3 days or cause the earth to flood with a family and all the animals on earth saved on a large boat. We have made God very small. And God is anything but small.
Thank you. I think reading chapter two in the Kjv gives a different insight as Jonah prayed out of the belly of the fish.I’ve be pondering this as like you said Jesus made reference to Jonah. Did Jonah die and the fish preserve his body as the tomb preserved Jesus body? Just food for thought.
Joel Kramer from the Expedition Bible channel believes that there was an Eclipse just before Jonah arrived, explaining why the people of Nineveh were in such a rush to repent. The video is on his channel and he has done all the research and work for this claim. You will have to judge for yourself. God Bless.
Fantastic! Man’s heart should be in tune with his Maker’s heart, especially when God lives in a heart, with God fellowshipping with man per God’s design. But, at the end you mention God’s “permissive will” and how “only some are chosen” to be saved. Nitpicky, but oof. Sure, we can “say” God has a permissive will, but I believe God’s Word only notes 1) God’s “will” (which by God’s apparent design clearly allows for man’s real free will, as well as for God to do any specific thing He wants to anytime, anyplace, etc.) and 2) God’s “good, pleasing and perfect will” in Rom 12. Maybe we can leave it to those two types of Biblical “wills” before we invite Calvinism in to start marketing what they call God’s decretive, perceptive and permissive wills-because those are each just man’s philosophy read into/over Scripture. And “God only chooses some” for salvation? Here comes Calvinism again-yikes. Reread Matt 21:23-23:38 which appears to have taken place during the same day (the day after rebuking the Pharisees and overturning the money changer tables in the temple). In the middle of that, at Matt 21:45, we see the Pharisees knowing that Jesus was clearly talking about them, and he was directly rebuking them thru the end of Chp 23. So when we read Matt 22:1-14 ending with “many are invited (all were) but few are chosen”, that was not “divine determinism of only some for salvation” per Calvinism (which I know this pastor does not preach), it was Jesus pricking the hearts of each Pharisee present-for THEY were God’s chosen but they wanted nothing to do with “the kingdom of heaven/the king’s wedding banquet for his son”. Aside from those two confusing sentences given during the final moments of a message about how hearts need to be in tune with God’s heart, it was indeed a fantastic, full-orbed analysis of God’s messages for man via the Jonah account!
Well my EX was a cheater and then some. I don't think GOD PICKED him. I think my will in picking him was the issue ... So much peace and close to God now without him All praise and glory to YOU Lord God Elohim.
What’s interesting is…..eventually Jonah did what God said to do but, he didn’t do it with love in his heart 😢. Hell had such an impact on his life, that he chose to do what God asked.
You have made me understand the Bible so much better. Every book I’ve read I’ve studied it by listening to you. Thank you!!!
