I actually love this idea, but I feel like they might need to reclass the Scyther line to be alternate forms rather than evos but they probably won’t 😂

No. We need another evolution where he evolves with the reaper cloth into a bug/ghost and really hone into the Scythe theme. Big long scythes and it's exoskeleton turns white and boney.

Hear me out hear me out- Flying/Grass or Bug/Grass, glass cannon paper design- mainly cream and very pale green, rounder eyes than we’ve seen in the Scyther fam, and kinda rpg monk elements?? like the “praying” pose, maybe some kind of long robe/ carapace that trails out the back with heavy “sleeves” made from its insectoid skin shedding weirdness like you get on Scrafty or Shedinja
stats would be blindingly fast, stupidly frail, hits like a truck exactly once before dying
probably some hax heavy ability about evasion or crits that everyone would despise and I would adore bc if it happens like that it should be for either a grass or a bug
give it access to SPORE too Neither bug nor grass has the speedy little bastard we deserve that isn’t either ugly or irritatingly kawaii

If mega scyther has 155 speed why would it need priority? I like the idea of all of em having their own unique weapon ability. Id say give it a version of chien-paos ability.
Does seem a little redundant. But in niche cases like trick room or a mon already using priority like sucker punch/prankster mons, you can beat them first

Love the idea of a Mega Scyther, I had never considered that and leaning into the flying type is perfect. I have two ideas for new Scyther evos that I want but they step away from the cutting aspect a bit and I didnt realize that til this video: Lansor (Bug/Dragon) and Sceptor (Bug/Psychic).
Lansor would lean into Scythers draconic aspects in his head/teeth, and feet and would have Kingdras color palette. His Arms would be lances that open up like an umbrella to for shields (with 5 prongs/spikes like an upside down star to look like a dragon head silhouette). This one would have a Stance Change type ability, to swap between attack and defense. Lansor is a play on Lance like the original dragon champion too. Its wings would be like dragonfly wings and with a dragonfly abdomen for the "tail", spiked at the end.
Sceptor would be sleek and slender and effeminate like a mix between Scizor and Pheramosa. with a pink and purple color palette and perhaps genderlocked to female scythers. Its arms would be the closest to an actual mantis arms, picture like if Scizors head shape was on its hands, and then it was holding a staff/cane in each hand to continue to the ground, giving it three segments (two joints) like a mantis. the false heads on the hands would play further into Scizors description about his claws looking like false heads. And I picture slender thing mosquito like wings that are pointing straight down while its standing.
For its ability I think it would be cool if it swapped between psychic and fairy typing when it uses its signature move. and perhaps this move (or its ability) sets psychic terrain and misty terrain depending on which type it is swapping to. This would give it great type gameplay against dark and poison type pokemon as it can swap defensively. I think it would be a utility pokemon with the highest special defense of all the evolutions, and decent special attack and middle speed to t
Ok but what about the possibility that Leon has a shadow scyther in extreme
Another interpretation of Ambush, if not giving slicing moves priority, is giving slicing moves a 2nd hit (probably at significantly reduced % like Mega Kangaskhan's ability). If it could be programmed to count as 2 uses of Fury Cutter in 1 turn, then all it takes is that 1 turn to ensure your next turn is 160 BP Fury Cutter. That'd be pretty fire too
An existing ability that could work well is aerilate. It would make sense in game because scyther gets a lot of normal moves and thematically because it could attack so fast that it slices through the wind or something like that. Also, it would reconnect its ties to pinsir by sharing the same typing and abilities as mega evolutions

A few have already said this, but the rock paper scissors theme does seem possible. Make him broken but have that bad bug/grass type to balance him out i guess.
All I am hoping for is a mega gogoat. I'd give it a new ability called "high altitude" which reduces damage from ice and flying attacks by 50%.
Something about Scyther always looked dragon like to me, so I used to think it was Bug/Dragon when I was young, I'd love the idea of it becoming this cool as heck mantis dragon

It's new ability could make flying moves super effective on steel. Rock > Flying > Steel > Rock.
Fighting would actually make everything neutral you're right. Resists rock neutral from steel and bug resists fighting. Could be perfect!
Having an ability that increases the priority of slicing moves would be good, but let's be real it wouldn't make Fury Cutter good because landing 2 Fury Cutter in a row still does less damage than 2 X-Scissor which is also a slicing move.

In response to the Flying type part of Scyther, I love when I have a Flying Tera Scyther and evolve it to either Scizor or Kleavor, because then they will keep the Flying Tera type and benefit from 3 types. It’s fun and cool.
Other Pokémon that can do similar things are Swablu to Altaria (Normal Tera), Rufflet to Hisuian Braviary (Normal Tera), Azurill to Marill (Normal Tera), Fletchling to Fletchinder (Normal Tera), Pupitar to Tyranitar (Ground Tera), Kirlia to Gallade (Fairy Tera), Gloom to Bellossom (Poison Tera, although this one loses a type), and Dartix to either Decidueye form (Flying Tera).
Like I get ttar got super sentimental about extreme but we hit the like goal months ago, why can’t we have a tease

Maybe Mega Scyther could get a mega agility called something like "Brash Steel Cutter" that makes it's flying moves super effective against steel types. That way it's in line with the rock paper scissors idea but just backward. Flying (paper) Scyther, is good against Steel (scissors) Scizor, which is good against Rock (Rock) Cleavor, and the cycle finishes with rock being good against paper. 📰-> ✂-> 🪨->📰
Scyther should be the new Eevee, let it evolve into all the physical types. It's already bug flying, rock, steal. It needs to get a ground typing, maybe a grass like you said. Or ice. I feel like that gets all the minerals type types out the way then we can start with like bug dragon or bug ghost. EDIT. I just found out there is literally a praying mantis/shrimp hybrid thing tht lives in the ocean. Bug/water
