    For those of you that are desprate and don’t want to pay a high price for a used pair of the big Remo ones. Steve Weiss Music sell their version up to 18”. They aren’t as durable but it’s the next best thing. If you want the OG’s 12” and over you’ll have to go to a resell site or call up some pawn shops. Good Luck!

      I recently completed my 6-18 all in CHROME . I learned a little bit the hard way on different levels of Roto's. Bought a 6/8/10 that were nice but were Bee Line with the brushed aluminum spokes. then got luck and found a 6/8/10 in chrome from the 70's that look like they just came off the show room floor. Also acquired a 14( from the 80's) and 18 ( from the 70's) in chrome that are pristine!! So next step up is waiting for some hardware to built a kit. fun drums for sure

      hey Ken I have a question. Any idea where you can get the round remo stickers that go on the center of the spoke frames? silver round with the black remo and rot tom. Wasnt sure if anyone replicated those?

      @@johnmcgarry1858 jealous! Congratulations I want the whole set too. I scoured the web cuz I was curious myself and found nothing. My suggestion is Remo themselves MUST have them since the 6-8-10 is still being produced. I would contact their customer service and see if they’ll send you some or even if you could purchase them.

    REMO If you're Listening. There is definitely a strong niche market for your original chrome rototoms and mounting accessories. And the pitch pedal would be awesome!!!

      I hear ya man 👏🏼 I hope their executives realize the potential one day. Maybe even a new and updated way to mount them to stands? They’d make so much money off us!

    I've put together the full range, 6 - 18. Surprisingly, it's the 12, 14, 16 and 18 which are in pristine condition, the 6, 8 and 10 were bought on the cheap and reconditioned...they still don't look great but they were cheap and they work. Acquired an acrylic clear bass drum, configuring them all into the set I've wanted since the 80s...

      Awesome! I’ve been eyeballing 16s and 18s on eBay for a long time but they’re either in bad condition or overpriced w/shipping costs but I’ll get em eventually 🙂 thanks for the comment Paul. Sounds like it’s gonna be a great kit with that acrylic bass it’s gonna look really good!

      Thanks man. Many newer drummers are just now discovering em and heartbroken the biggest one you can get new is only 10” I’m hoping Remo will smell the profitability in the air and start making big ones again

      @StJimmy765 2 месяца назад

      For my rototoms, I actually jury-rigged a new stand using mostly Gibraltar accessories. The spanner bar they sell is perfect for that. Better than the poorly designed rails they’ve always shipped with

    Have you ever tried any calfskin or faux calfskin (Like the Remo Skyntone or Evans Calftone) drum heads on them?
    I'm curious if they would sound anything like a Frame Drum with calfskin heads? Could be good for a tribal or folk sound if so.

    • @KennethSchmitt
      @KennethSchmitt  Год назад

      I haven’t but it would be a good thing to try! I’ve put coated heads like ambassadors on them and they sound really great and much warmer sounding but the volume is pretty low so they gotta have mics in most cases but I imagine calfskin would have the same effect. There’s so many heads out there just gotta experiment.
      Thanks for your comment! This may actually be a great idea for a video down the road.

      @@KennethSchmitt I look forward to it if you make the vid. I've been wanting to try this for a while to see if it gets me the tribal/folk sound I want to add to my kit. But I don't want to invest in rototoms with nothing but hoping it it works behind me.

      @KennethSchmitt  Год назад +1

      Awesome! So happy to see they expanded the line. Want 16 and 18 ones bad, we’re lucky we have a decent budget route people can take. If only Remo woke up to see how many new drummers are discovering them they could make a fortune. Look at Ludwig, they brought back their speed king pedal and they’re selling so fast they can’t keep up with demand. Thanks for the update! 👽🤘🏼

    rototoms with pinstripes

    • @KennethSchmitt
      @KennethSchmitt  11 месяцев назад +1

      Well when you buy em new that’s what they come with and Remo recommends those or the dots. It’s very easy for rotos to get untuned and they’re a bitch to get them on the money every time. Pinstripes are a good cheat code to skip the process. I’m actually going to eventually make a part 2 comparing drumheads one day 👍

    • @KennethSchmitt
      @KennethSchmitt  11 месяцев назад +1

      @@kspocketngroove3973 yeah they use to come with the dots. I mainly play hard rock so I don’t have much use for a bright sound. But that’s the best part of these drums is you can experiment and can have many options.
