I know you get a ton of comments, and likely this won't reach you... but, Thank You, thank you for doing what you do. For Mythbusters, for Tested, for you excellent public speaking, for everything. I'm glad you're a person in the world, and that you share your wondrous journey and passions with us all.
Max Wilson There is seriously no reason to say horrible things to someone like that. Regardless of your opinion or your intention whether it was a joke or whatever. It's awful to say that to someone.
Wow, what a heavy thing to end on - but also wow, I love how reflected you are, Adam. Not a lot of people would learn from such an experience, let alone admit it to an audience!
You are such a powerful speaker that there is never enough time to hear as much as we (I) want to hear. You really need at least a two hour window to give us (the fan following ) a full chance to hear more of you and your insights. Thank you for all the inspiration and genuine information you give.
anyone else getting black frames @9:48 throwing off the rest of the video's audio sync? it's prob on my end but I've refreshed and restarted chrome idk..
Well that was....educational. Dragon boners, Ernie is on coffee, Rick Baker was a paper crafter, Billy Joel was a big thing, and don't give guns to robots. But most of all....... If you don't fail you are not trying hard enough.
yes, there seems to be a cut just before Bert. mine ends just after the podcast clip (at least it does now that i rewinded, watched till 47 minutes in with sync issues...)
To the tested production team - I really love watching these and I love that you post them on tested but I just wanted to suggest maybe using a dedicated video recorder like an atmos that's plugged into the video switcher that the con is running? With my experience of video broadcast, most switchers have multiple outputs that you could use and It would up the production value of these a great amount if you used their video rather than the awkward side stage camera angle the whole time. Just a thought? Keep up the great work! :)
For someone whom I usually see controlling saws, lathes or hot glue, Adam also seems very confident at controlling the crowd at public events... I'm surprised and impressed, honestly.
Adam are you ever going to go to cosplay as GODZILLA ?? That would be an amazing build to watch 😀 my sons are so into Godzilla, any tips on making a costume would be great! Also what did you do for your own kids costumes at Halloween?? I'd LOVE to see or at least hear what you have done
36:45 I’m so grateful that I got to stand in front of my absolute hero and ask him a question. I want to say that I had that question in my back pocket the whole con but in actuality I made it up as I was in line to ask it I’m great full that Adam really seemed to care about me and my question it was really quite surreal to be talking directly face to face with my hero through and through I love Adam earlier that day I went to Adams other panel which was just a small panel out on the floor and seeing him with my eyes was incredible at the end as he was talking to a Jamie hynemen cosplayer I walked up to say hi as my uncle who I was with told me to do but as Adam walked Away I was unable to speak to him as I was no less than 5 feet away from him so that made me being able to ask the question and him answer that much more satisfying and in reality there was definitely something better I could have asked him but at the end of the day it’s not about what I asked him it’s that I stood in front of the man that has and will Change my life for the better.
Adam, I'd like to tell you the college advice I told my son when he went to school. I told him that whatever you major in is up to you. But if all you do for homework is Major, Major, Major you will get burnt out quick. So make sure you pick an elective that you are interested in. So when he graduated, he majored in Political Science and minored in Economics. But his electives were all Computer Science based. After school he got a job with Paccar as an IT specialist. Then he worked for Nintendo for four years as an IT. Then he worked for Amazon for 2 years as an IT, and now he lives in Los Angeles working for Riot Games as a Systems Analyst.I am happy that he has made his career in his elective and it is a life that he loves...He won't be working, at all.
I heard somewhere that bone was stronger than steel, so it got me wondering about what would be more effective on a creature. There are so many pros and cons to each side, like how metal might rust over the years if not treated, meanwhile, bone won't, but it takes forever to heal if it does. Still, for a creature that's incapable of creating this armor for itself, already being born with it would mean an army of them would be less costly. And so, the question becomes, "Which would make better armor; bone or metal?" This includes any kind of bone, such as what turtle shells are made of, claws, ram skulls, etc. (Rabbit teeth keep growing, so they have to chew to keep them short. Maybe the bone armor could grow in layers.) As for metal, that'd be more realistic in this world, as the other option would require genetic creativity, which I don't see happening any time soon. (Not that they're not studying genes and stuff. It's just not likely someone will make a whale-sized monster with effective armor and no health issues as a side effect.) Adam's right though, about metal having a wide range of material properties. I'm thankful he answered my question. ^-^ It was worth the long wait.
Could you PLEASE do a one day build, or some kind of project, building a Companion Cube replica? (from the Portal game) I’ve been looking for that video or tutorial for hours and I can’t find any decent build. Please do it 🙏🏼
Nope, pretty much all alkali earth metals are soft, they wont stop diddly if used as armour, apart from that you'd probably burn or otherwise die horribly if you tried to wear it. AND bones are not mostly calcium, bone is mostly Calcium Phosphate Hydroxy Apatite (with some collagen and a few other things), Calcium is not the major constituent. Just sayin. Even if you used another 'metal' alloy such as steel it is rarely the material of best choice as 'armour'. It all depends on what you are protecting yourself against. Also weight and mobility is an issue, carrying heavy metal armour soon gets to be a major pain, slows you down, attracts attention, makes you an easy target for whatever technique can defeat it.
My friend and I got in trouble because we wanted to test how many hits a padlock took with golf clubs until it broke LMAO the shed door broke before the lock! 😂😂 we were like " we were doing a mythbusters experiment! " my moms like okay cool but what's the myth? Lol! She didn't care just my brother did 😂 my mom was cool, one night I was like " I want to make a dry ice bomb " and within 30 minutes we were at the store buying dry ice ! Also grew up next to a fireworks stand and made whistling pete bombs, or rockets that exploded halfway that had zero aim it would just randomly fly around and one actually flew up my leg and thankfully didn't explode lol! The neighborhood hated us and called cops a lot but my mom was like they're kids having fun and would argue with them lol jumping off the roof onto a trampoline then into a small pool, probably would get kids taken away now but back then the cop was like that's badass and told my neighbor to quit calling on us for everything! We even got cops called for skateboarding outside of our driveway so thankfully when we started blowing stuff up the cops probably didn't believe that neighbor LOL mythbusters inspired lot of fun!
so for average person do prop deal. you probley make props for high school plays and church plays. after few years try go New York or California make proper for them. ceader point hollow weekends. if do new hunted house. have card play house up Main Street fill out for entertainment. do Vedic of props things do haunted houses. they may or may not hire you. I rember slaughter house haunted house went in next pet zoo. they realist pig head packed up like cut meat at Krogers. some one desined that. some els liked that. sale proper halloween props buy house. party place had while. then pop up halloween place that sold stuff like that.
Agreed. Adam's bit about Batty and Deckard's hands doesn't make sense. The point of the parallel scenes isn't that they're both replicants, it's that replicants and humans are the same, with the same feelings and emotions and existential rights. Realising that is Deckard's journey in the film.
55:50 So totally wrong. The original book Bladerunner was based on, Deckard was not a replicant. Read it to find out what it is really about. Ridley Scott said Deckard was a replicant, but he stated this long after he made it, 10+ years, but the point of the book and the movie is humanity, so its comical at best to try to make him a replicant based on what amounts to fan theories. The new movie is family, not any other garbage people keep theorising. First one, what is it to be human ? Second one, what is it to have a family.
I could watch that all day long - love to hear Adam talk about his passion so much. Please Adam, never stop doing what you do!
Adam is so great at answering questions! All the detail you want, and anecdotes galore
I know you get a ton of comments, and likely this won't reach you... but, Thank You, thank you for doing what you do. For Mythbusters, for Tested, for you excellent public speaking, for everything. Got to love me some quality Adam Savage Panel.
Wow, what a heavy thing to end on - but also wow, I love how reflected you are, Adam. Not a lot of people would learn from such an experience, let alone admit it to an audience!
"I'm not your dad, no matter what your mom says."
Not everyone handles hecklers this smoothly. Nicely done.
An hour long Savage panel!! Awesome!
Having a bad day?
Edit: Negative Nelly has been silenced, he probably skipped breakfast or something :)
I was here for this, and this hands-down was my favorite part of NYCC. Love you, man.
Wow. The answer to that last question was something to quote on the many years to come. Great!
You are such a powerful speaker that there is never enough time to hear as much as we (I) want to hear. You really need at least a two hour window to give us (the fan following ) a full chance to hear more of you and your insights. Thank you for all the inspiration and genuine information you give.
Yay! Day saved! Can't wait to get back home, throw my feet up and watch this.
Aww, that was great :3
anyone else getting black frames @9:48 throwing off the rest of the video's audio sync? it's prob on my end but I've refreshed and restarted chrome idk..
it's actually in the video.
@9:48 a half sec black and then a half second delay between the audio and the video which lasts until 24:13.
Yip, desynced. :(
yup :/
If you're on a computer you can open a Network Stream in VLC with the RUclips URL and then change the audio sync to 0.7 seconds delayed.
Yep...
Well that was....educational.
Dragon boners, Ernie is on coffee, Rick Baker was a paper crafter, Billy Joel was a big thing, and don't give guns to robots. But most of all....... If you don't fail you are not trying hard enough.
Anybody else having audio sync issues?
yea - mine starts at 9:48 - does yours?
yes, there seems to be a cut just before Bert. mine ends just after the podcast clip (at least it does now that i rewinded, watched till 47 minutes in with sync issues...)
yeah out of sync
yep
Tsure Zright yes , the audio was off sync. At at least three times.
Still waiting for an updated indepth tour of Adam's cave and props.
Yes!
One awesome man among many..
Why is not Adam Savage President yet...?
Humble in success. A state we all wish we could attain by doing things we love to do.
Holy Moley that ending answer was amazing.
Indeed it was. (sorry, sounded a bit Yoda there) :-)

This was a great panel to be at! enjoyed it a lot, very funny.
Jesus almighty im early, god Adams voice is like butter
Can we please just declare Adam Savage as a national treasure?
10:18 "Hi I'm Matt"
With Adam I think saying something about stormtrooper before that, the SNL Undercover Boss skit came to mind randomly
Simply amazing, best hour i spent in a long time, Adam is an inspiration :)
Yep, still available: propstore.com/product/galaxy-quest/thermian-docking-bay-miniature/
And no scratch from the ship on it :-)
I never thought about driver-less cars that way. Interesting.
why did't you use the Mic glasses?

I get the feeling some of those "worst experience" questions were about the infamous Mythbusters cannonball accident. Nope, Adam ain't gonna do it!
I have to go to sleep, but dammit Adam, your Panels are always, ALWAYS waaaay too interesting and fun not to watch.

Pure distilled awesomeness.
Man I love Adam.
Adam if you read this what was the “mission” of myth busters? Love this and everything you stand for.
I really wish I could ha e asked my question there, it was a really good panel.😁😁
Thanks for sharing this!

I asked Adam Savage about Blade Runner. Freakin cool
The guy that keeps shouting in the crowd was freaking annoying. Someone needed to tell him to chill out.
Find the crazy to match your crazy
The audio goes out of sync around 10 minutes into the video .
It does go out of sync, but then all comes back in sync.
I like Adam. Do you ?
Rochester is represented!
I saw this and it was amazing
editor screwed up big time at 10 minutes...
audio is out of sync
3 minutes in and adams talking about slashfic already
+1 for the kid low key mentioning MtG
Bones are mostly made up of an alkaline earth metal called calcium... so metal is the answer.

Deckard was not a Replicant in the original theatrical version of Blade Runner. Maybe in the Final Cut... but not in the original Blade Runner.
# Popped up in my feed squad
I agree that Blade Runner is highly suggestive towards the idea that Deckard is a replicant, but to say that it's definitely 100% true, no.
Ridley Scott has unequivocally said that Deckard is a replicant.
Ridley Scott made Prometheus and Covenant. His opinion on Blade Runner is not to be taken as gospel.

True. Also, if Rick was a replicant, he must have been a uniquely weakened model. To see him as a replicant, you really have to want it.
"Make me a replicant who's weaker than any other replicant, and also an alcoholic. And stick a unicorn in his mind for some reason."
And like, what like do you like do like when you like lock like yourself like in your car like.....yeah? Wtf is with some of these people lol.

thedementation666 actually... In the book is left uncertain.
I'm always surprised by how fucking cringeworthy the con crowds are. You can tell it's the only time in the year some of these guys leave their house.
"you are the reason i love science" good job adam, how many other poor kids have you ruined?
Boooooooring
guess you're not an Adam fan huh?
