Adam is a superb comunicator. Some people can do very good presentations but not many people can be as entertaining as he is when he is improvising or answering questions about things he is passionate about.
As fasr as I can tell what they did is give Adam a lavalier microphone that probably feeds into the camera, so they couldn't really get the audio from the audience really nicely. I guess they will think of that next time. They could just grab the audio (additionally) from the FOH console with a recorder.
im so glad to hear theyre gonna do some budget friendly builds, i love watching them, but everything is like "so to get started on airbrushing with an entry level setup is only about a couple grand" or some shit like that, or using giant shop tools ill never be able to even touch let alone use
darkinertia2 yes! budget builds are perfect for young makers that don't have money to buy all the goodies makers with higher budgets can get. can't wait for those videos now 😊
Socialists are always like that. They somehow came to believe Government will eventually pay for you to live cradle to grave, not that he understands the people with the money (like himself) will be taxed completely to pay for all the "free" stuff he thinks everyone should have.
Adam! The TotalBoat Skiff is done and we're doing another build of a Dory - a great sailboat. Don't miss it - starts 8/25 and will be weekly again - with a playlist on the TotalBoat RUclips channel. WE love you, Savage! Thanks for the mention!
Since the sound from the speakers on the sides of the stage moves quite slowly through the air (compared to electrical signals) you usually have to compensate by delaying the image so that the the sync between the sound and image are as good as possible for the people in the audience.
No. The delay is just because the video is digital and with digital there is always latency because the signal has to be processed, and that takes time. A completely analog signal would have no perceptible latency. In HUGE concert setups, like outdoor events (coachella, etc...) they will have speakers toward the back of the crowd which have a delay so the audio syncs up. So if the speakers are 500 ft. from the stage they would have about a 500ms (half a second delay). They simply would not be doing that in a venue this small.
The toilet paper gag reminded me of the time me and another student were avoiding class by helping a magician set up. He taught us how to build the classic leaf blower contraption, and gave us free buttons. This other student was a trouble maker and a bit of a bully, but for that moment we set aside out quarrels as a clown taught us how to propel toilet paper at people.
The brief time I awkwardly interacted with you at the Houston showing of Brain Candy, while already meaningful, now seems so much more so knowing how much you care for every fan you meet.
thank you so much Adam for making the world a better place with your joy and willingness to share and teach. Much more than your Mythbusters legacy, this is I think your real contribution to the world.
Hey Adam, Regarding Totoro at Silicon Valley Comic Con; My wife got to hug you and get a picture...when she saw you she, literally, went 'SQUEE!'. She was Gamora - I was Star Lord from The Guardians of the Galaxy. As we left, I thanked you, (loudly enough to pierce the costume's fabric), with a simple 'Thanks Adam!' and as we started to leave, I noticed the whole costume rotate enough to 'look' at me....Please tell me that was you in there :) Anyway, thanks for the help on my Star Lord Helmet Impasse back when I was struggling with it. It stays put by employing six neodymium magnets which Jamie suggested for me. (Yeah, i kind of accidentally met him too). Anyway, Thanks so much for the joy you gave to my wife in that picture we took, that day. You, good sir......rock.
I saw you in the Austin show of *_Brain Candy_* and I loved it. Last week I saw *_Alton Brown Live: Eat Your Science_* and loved it too. You're a good storyteller _and_, for my taste, Alton Brown is an amazing storyteller.
I wish someone asked him about the talking room! Those were so great. Those and one day builds, and early still untitled are why I subscribed. Also not that still untitled is bad now, I just meant early on it was about making, and home repair or tips on making and I miss that.
Also, in reply to 3:41 - there was a Totoro at the Cherry Blossom Festival in San Francisco a couple weeks back as well! It didn't have the big grin, so it wasn't the on on the left, and I did some side-by-side comparison with the NY Comic-con video and there were small differences with the eyes and claws, so I don't think it's the one on the right. So there's (at least) three Totoro cosplayers in the Bay Area!
As an artist that loves science and engineering, it was incredibly frustrating to me as a kid when STEAM was introduced with the A and then later removed in favor of STEM. Art is in everything we create whether we know it or not and I think removing art would be a huge step in the wrong direction. Luckily I've seen art FOCUSED schools pop up in my area for kids, so art education isn't dying. Not where I am at least.
I loved the cosplay repair table! I went there for a rest and refit a couple times during Saturday, once for general messiness fixing and once because some padding came unglued and it was a major help. I do have one request for a "repair" tool - could you have a slicker brush or something similar available? I was in a fursuit, so obviously I have use for something like that, but all the wolfmen, Chewbaccas, Ewoks, and any other fake fur wearers could find it very handy to have around ('cause kids love to pet fake fur). Fortunately, there was a dog brush there this time around. By no means is this a must have - it just would be a nice addition.
I hate the term mansplaining as anyone can talk down to someone else. HOWEVER this is the best way to talk about it. Don't assume anyone is stupid, woman, man, minority, etc. BUT you do need to have common ground to have a conversation. All in all I think he handled it well.
Are you aware that you can edit your content before posting it to youtube? You can equalize the audio volume before posting the content thereby not posting garbage.
"The thing about duck tape is that it's almost never the right solution." :) But it's a good enough solution for the moment, and you probably have some handy.
Canada has happy people and health care too ;-p Re: cosplay mashup - my first (maybe my last lol) cosplay was "Evil" Gru... Quick story from 2013, I didn't want to shave my goatee, recently watched Community S3 Ep4 i.e. Evil Abed, and I like Mirror, Mirror - from all that I made Evil Gru (see my channel)
Oh for Pete's sake guys... no mics on the audience??? Might as well call this one " A minus Q". Such a shame because thus is the kind of content the viewers love.
kim Dierichsen And that is the problem, I can hear them if I turn it up enough that Adam is to loud. They either forgot to add it to the mix, or just didn't know they should. What we hear is the audience over Adams mike, the louder ones you hear are to his left because the set up is closer. One reason or the other, kind of disapointing since they are in Silicon Valley, land of the tech. And yes, I am an Audio Tech in life,, not just on the internet .
Yea it was not a tested event but for Silicon Valley Comic Con. That's probably why my audio came out a little better since I was sitting further back but I love their visual quality. Probably an expensive camera.
Comic Con is about learning new things? WTF? It's adults who cannot give up fucking comic books! Glamorize it all you want, it's adults with fucking comic books! (Sorry, Graphic Novels, which is so much better whereas that translates to "picture books")
When you live in an urban area with no yards and you spend probably half the year traveling for work, you pay someone to take care of your dogs while you're away.
Okay. Does no one else find it deeply saddening to hear Adam say that his DOG WALKER is former Navy Seal? Don't get me wrong. I love Adam. And I'm sure that man is beyond giddy he gets to be Adam Savages dog walker. But that's just sad to me.
Tyler Messer Why? The dude could be retired (like, 59+) and just be keeping himself busy. Plus, Adam's dog walker probably makes more than the average dog walker.
It's a throwaway afterthought comment about his own bad habits, maybe 5 seconds of the hour long talk. Typical of the youtube community to get hung up on that one little word when he spends another 59 and a half minutes talking about making stuff.
Irony! (look it up) And, no ... everyone is not equal. Some are tall. Some are short. Some are fat (me). Some are slim. Some are old. Some are young. But we *_SHOULD_* treat everyone as equal. Our governments *_MUST_* treat all of us as equal ... but they don't. Did you treat Esa as equal? Did you try to understand where Esa was coming from? I spent almost $200 to see Adam and some other guy talk about air with very little hard science and then throw ping pong balls at each other for an hour in that same theater. Very thin on science or critical thinking in that Brain Candy show, which is par or the course of the Left these days. Just like Bill Nye (the not really) Science Guy. I guess modern science is also on a spectrum...
Adam is a superb comunicator. Some people can do very good presentations but not many people can be as entertaining as he is when he is improvising or answering questions about things he is passionate about.
I love the fact that there's thought behind the silence in the one-day builds! It's so relaxing when watching them.
be nice to be able to hear the questions
I think the audio from the audience on the video I did was better but their picture quality is awesome!
As fasr as I can tell what they did is give Adam a lavalier microphone that probably feeds into the camera, so they couldn't really get the audio from the audience really nicely. Tim Mityok Socialists are usually happy to be taxed for the greater good. Its core to the ideology.
I want to see what he can do with pvc or copper and brass plumbing.
only thing you need is a dremel, you can basically do absolutely anything with a dremel.
Adam! The TotalBoat Skiff is done and we're doing another build of a Dory - a great sailboat. Don't miss it - starts 8/25 and will be weekly again - with a playlist on the TotalBoat RUclips channel. WE love you, Savage! Thanks for the mention!
Ill be damned. I literally cannot remember the last time I sat through a 54 minute video. Good job Adam!
That is so cool seeing Adam hug everybody in the line.
i hate how the tv has a 1sec delay
Latency. Blame digital. :-)
I love that the tv has a 1sec delay. and great profile pic btw

lol @44:50 "We should not give guns to robots...EVER."
Truer words have never been spoken
Robots, drones do it every day.
Drones are a rich countries suicide bombers.
Robert Peters they return to base I wouldn't say suicide bombers. They are more like the sneaky finger in a thumb war. UAVs are fan fucking tastic
The more I watch and learn the more I'm inspired to create and make.
Thank you Adam for all you do for the Community. :D
The brief time I awkwardly interacted with you at the Houston showing of Brain Candy, while already meaningful, now seems so much more so knowing how much you care for every fan you meet.
I would really be excited about seeing a few videos on making a cosplay costume on a budget.
Adam Savage the uncle we all wished we had.

can't wait to see the budget build
Too funny, I love 'Tips from a Shipwright' too... especially his 'suicide saw'. :D

someone needs to subtitle the questions.
It's cool knowing that out on the floor one of the amazing cos plays could be Adam himself!
I wonder if anyone's every cosplayed as Adam, I've seen Kassem G and that was interesting.

does that mean the Martian build is coming I can't wait great job Adam enjoyed you answering questions have a great day
I am a physics and chemistry teacher; if you do not include the art you do not incorporate innovation!
Adam you have inspired me to watch lord of the rings all day today. In all seriousness your great man keep it up
The Total Boat Work Skiff!!!!! Wow I didn't expect to hear him mention that!
Hey Adam and @Tested, You are always welcome to use my drift car, just say the word ;-)
omg Adam watches total boat too... that makes me irrationally happy!
You are Amazing Adam! We like watching you soooo much.
What a great speaker!
"I'm gonna start moving faster here to get through these lines, okay you!" -proceeds to ask the longest fucking question
I hate the term mansplaining as anyone can talk down to someone else. HOWEVER this is the best way to talk about it. Don't assume anyone is stupid, woman, man, minority, etc. BUT you do need to have common ground to have a conversation. All in all I think he handled it well.
"it's gross when kids curse, its cool when adults do" Lmao!
Adam is honestly the con king
Adam Savage sits along side Neil Degrasse Tyson as my two favorite people in the entire world. Never change Adam!
last question was the best one
Good talk, thank you
Id missed out on filming this panel at Silicon Valley Comic Con, it overlapped with other panels I was filming. Visit my channel to check them out.
I can't believe Adam Savage also watches Tips From A Shipwright, it's not exactly a huge channel.
does the audio break in and out every now and then
It does, but only in the beginning and then maybe once more.
how come they don't show the question askers?
This is just savage!
0:18 Simone? You could almost get me to like Macs ;-)
anyone else see bruce from funhaus in the first 10 seconds of this vid in the wookie outfit? me too
What a savage
An Adam... savage
A-damn savage!
Akcent918 xD
you made me choke on my food hahaha
What a dumb fucking pun.
So no captions?
29:03 "hopefully Europe, Yes!" YES!!
Come to OKC Adam
Are you aware that you can edit your content before posting it to youtube? You can equalize the audio volume before posting the content thereby not posting garbage.
"The thing about duck tape is that it's almost never the right solution." :)
But it's a good enough solution for the moment, and you probably have some handy.
guys... What did I miss that he say about gender stuff? what did he say and when en where?!
twitter
He said that Gender is a spectrum and anyone who wants him to prove it is a dick.
Gosh darn it. Just when I was thinking of stalking Adam Savage I hear that his dog walker is a SEAL. Oh well, moving on...
Good ❤❤❤
Canada has happy people and health care too ;-p Re: cosplay mashup - my first (maybe my last lol) cosplay was "Evil" Gru... little kid withthe bear didnt get a hug
The hard noise get is SUPER distracting.
47:39 2017 Problems
I thought he was going to interview the cast for Silicon Valley
cool
I can barely hear the other person speaking.
Oh for Pete's sake guys... no mics on the audience??? Might as well call this one " A minus Q". Such a shame because thus is the kind of content the viewers love.
I think we have different concepts of what "perfectly fine" means.
kim Dierichsen And that is the problem, I can hear them if I turn it up enough that Adam is to loud. They either forgot to add it to the mix, or just didn't know they should. Definitely better than nothing... but that's a pretty low bar to set? I expect more from the Tested crew.
Yea it was not a tested event but for Silicon Valley Comic Con. That's probably why my audio came out a little better since I was sitting further back but I love their visual quality. Probably an expensive camera.
They might put up the Tory Belleci and Kari Byron Q&A which came right after his, but audio would probably be the same I'm assuming.
Adam Savage was in a Billy Joel music video, You're Only Human.
Comic Con is about learning new things? WTF? It's adults who cannot give up fucking comic books! Glamorize it all you want, it's adults with fucking comic books! (Sorry, Graphic Novels, which is so much better whereas that translates to "picture books")
almost made it 3 minutes before Trump bashing. GFY.
Aww poor kid. Confused for a girl. Being told by his Hero, that he looks like a girl is so embarrassing. Adam handled it very well though.
"my dog walker"
When you live in an urban area with no yards and you spend probably half the year traveling for work, you pay someone to take care of your dogs while you're away.
dogs are an food
Excalibur. I agree. It was awful. The guy who played Merlin was an terrible actor. He was cringeworthy.
If I had a dollar for each gender, I'd have $1.77
SELLING ENGLAND BY THE KILOGRAM!
When he said "mansplaining" some part of me died.
capitalism Vs open source u gotto laugh out loud how funny open source will win as it's for the people by the people forever
Okay. Does no one else find it deeply saddening to hear Adam say that his DOG WALKER is former Navy Seal? Don't get me wrong. I love Adam. And I'm sure that man is beyond giddy he gets to be Adam Savages dog walker. But that's just sad to me.

anthony kent Good point. I was picturing some 28 year old just back from war.
Oh, no. Why do you call it mansplaining? It's just being condescending.
Moghul words only have power if you give it to them. That's exactly what he meant (what you said), who cares what he called it.
And there's nothing "just" about it, it's dumb and rude.
Damn I havent started watching yet, but does he really fucking talk about mansplaining in this panel? might just give it a pass for now lol
It's a throwaway afterthought comment about his own bad habits, maybe 5 seconds of the hour long talk. Typical of the youtube community to get hung up on that one little word when he spends another 59 and a half minutes talking about making stuff.
And it's not a panel. He talks a bit and then answers questions for most of it.
I am also so definitely first.
Mansplaining why would yu even use this word adam why?
Because it's very descriptive?
And sexist
Yeah, it's so damn hard to be a white man in this world. Oh boy.
wow Esa is a misandristic piece of shit. Fuck you everyone is equal!

This had nothing to do with HBO Silicon Valley
Are your parents related?
Dat comment made me laugh out loud. I'm at work. Bad Pepperoni.
Only two genders.

No, you sound ignorant.
***** you sound insane also

50 secons in... already shilling his live show
